Name That Pet: Petlover’s Nether Ray

Petlover with Nether RayFinal Name: Sukiyaki

Petlover, an aptly-named level 70 Blood Elf from the Turalyon realm, is looking for help naming a nether ray. She writes:

As my name suggests I love pets of all sorts and sizes (excluding spiders, yuck). After reaching level 70, I took some serious time to consider the pets I would like to use. I typically prefer solo play, but I also do instances and am starting to get into raiding. I tamed one of the Dire Ravens in Blade’s Edge for my solo pet, and later was able to acquire a bat from karazhan for raiding and group work. But the third pet has always stumped me.

Name That Pet: Tshaya’s Ghost Saber

Final Name: Onryo

To round out the week we have a nice simple request for a pet name from Tshaya, a Draenei hunter from the Laughing Skull - U.S. realm.
Tshaya and Cat

Tshaya is a very serious young draenei who lost her entire family in the crash of the Exodar. She ran across a ghost saber while hunting naga, and knew that he would be a companion she could understand, and who would understand her, and so far, they’ve gotten along wonderfully. The only problem is, he’s been rather quiet on the name front.

I’m looking for something Greek or Russian sounding, since that seems to be the base for most of the draenei names, but somewhat short. Cat doesn’t seem to fit with some of the long mythological names I’ve found.

Name That Pet: Cogar’s Serpent

Cogar and SerpentFinal Name: Jason

Apparently summer is the season of serpents! Today, Cogar is looking for assistance naming his serpent from the Wailing Caverns. Cogar writes:

I have traveled the vast regions of east Kalimdor, from Durotar to The Barrens, Ashenvale to the Enemy territory of Darkshore, and even to the grand grasslands of Mulgore. As I traveled I encountered beasts of unimaginable shape and sizes. From the swift Takk the Leaper to the majestic Mazzranache I have tamed all manner of beasts. Sadly no beast large or small, swift or powerful could stay long.

Name That Pet: Dalader’s White Lion

Dalader with white lionToday we have a request from a dwarf hunter named Dalader who has recently tamed a white lion. Dalader writes:

I would like to have a sensible name that would sound cool with a dwarf, maybe something about dwarf and lion lore, maybe you can mix names around so that they sound they go with the ‘WoW time period’, and make it so that they don’t sound silly at the same time. Just so you know, I do not RP, well not on WoW anyway, but I like the names people can use in RP servers, so nothing recent or silly, proper names, mythical or about lore. Thanks for reading and let the name creating begin!

Name That Pet: Fursecutor’s Sporebat

Fursecutor and SporebatKet Shi is one of Petopia’s most reliable contributors of data, but this time he is looking for some help himself. His hunter Fursecutor needs a name for a new pet sporebat!

Turns out I am in need of a name for a new pet! I’ve always loved how spore bats looked, but I’ve never had a reason for my hunter Fursecutor to use one. However, when I heard a rumor they may be getting a focus dump, I rushed over to Zangarmarsh right away to get a blue spore bat, and I’m currently in the process of getting her to level 70.

I’m stumped on a name, though. I’m not interested in silly names or drug references, which was all my guildmates could come up with. I’m assuming the spore bat is female, so I’d like a more serious feminine name that’s a little more exotic.

Serious, feminine, and exotic — we can do that!

Name That Pet: Lunania’s Warp Stalker

Lunania and Warp StalkerFinal Name: Magitail

I don’t think we’ve had a Name That Pet request for a warp stalker before, which is odd considering how much personality these little guys have. So today we welcome our inaugural warp stalker request from a Blood Elf hunter called Lunania.

Name That Pet: Kerub’s Serpent

Kerub with her serpentFinal Name: Níðhöggr

Another Name That Pet request from an RP realm, and this one is from Sentinels, where I keep my Alliance characters. But Kerub is Horde, an Orc hunter with a serpent that needs a name!

Kerub writes (in character):

I was tracking beasts down that day, learning what I could of them, feeding them ’til their bellies were full to show my appreciation of them, then letting them loose to run back with their kin in the wild. I wandered all over Azeroth, and the scattered lands of Outlands. There was one last skill to learn normally held by some snakes in Shadowmoon.

But my life mate and friend Ozrac said, “No Kerub, here, let me take you somewhere special.”

Name That Pet: A Couple’s Cats

Today we have not one but two cats that need names; and not only a couple of cats, but cats that belong to a couple.

Congafury writes:

I’ve recently commited a crime - I talked my man into playing WOW. To my surprise he made a hunter and now we’re both in big trouble: neither he, nor I can think of any good names for our brand new cats. So, there you go - 2 hunters in one mail!

Name That Pet: Wykea’s Scorpid

Wykea and ScorpidWykea, a young Tauren hunter from the RP realm of Kirin Tor, has asked for our help naming his pet scorpid, previously known as Death Flayer.

Stop by Kirin Tor server someday, and you might meet Wykea. A bit absentminded socially, this young bull nonetheless knows that focus is important in battle. But, like anyone, he has his quirks. He loves “collecting” unusual pets. Rare colors, odd behaviors, he loves them all, and is determined to find the perfect rare pet, even if it takes him to the ends of the world and back.

Name That Pet: Kindinos’ Ravager

Kindinos and RavagerKindinos is a Night Elf with a ravager habit! He writes:

I’ve had an orange Nethermine Ravager from day one when they became tameable. I’m kind of tired of looking at it, and have even had a few incidents where the Horde has mistaken it for a Nethermine Ravager and tried to kill it. I managed to tame one of the new Razorthorn Ravagers before they made them untameable, and I’m working on raising its loyalty.
