Today we have three gorilla-owners looking for the perfect name for their new furry friend. First up is Adams, a pun-loving dwarven hunter. Adams writes:

I’d like some assistance in naming a Gorilla I happened accross. My hunter’s name is Adams. He has had a variety of pets.

Bear – Grizzly
Boar – Gristly
Raptor – Grisly
Cat – Ansel
Wolf – Sam
Devilsaur – Quincy
Worm – Abigail

I tend to like puns, but I also like names that look right as names. I chose all my pet names because they looked funny with “Adam’s Pet” underneath. I am looking for suggestions for my hominid friend. Thank you.

I have to say, I really like the cat named Ansel and the worm named Abigail. I’m not sure we can come up with something as good for this gorilla, but we’ll give it a try!

Next up is a Draenei hunter named Yáena. Yáena writes:

For 4 years I’ve spawned a countless amount of hunters, which leads to a countless amount of pets. All of them with more or less original names. This is the first time I’ve asked for help, heh. :)

Anyways. The hunter in subject is a lvl 30-and-something draenei called Yáena. After almost 20 levels of huntin’ around with a wind serpent, I’ve decided to give her a gorilla, with their new 1337-ish Thunderstomp and all. Her other pet is, as said before, a blue/black windserpent from WC. His name is Kaizar.

I don’t RP, so I have no idea what kind of draenei Yáena is, but I mainly play solo on her. For some reason, she’s never been to any instance. Always been busy questing and hoofing around, and always nobody in the LFM. (Besides that, I hate PuGs with all my heart.) That’s why the gorilla would fit perfectly.

There’s no fancy taming story either, also because I don’t RP, and the gorilla wasn’t rare or hard to find. Let’s just imagine it happened it a mighty epic way.

But while I can’t tell you any fun stuff about either the draenei or the taming, I can certainly tell you what kind of name I’m after.

First of all: No silly names. Silly names are all fun and joy, but I just can’t hunt around with a monkey called BananaOmNomNom or something like that. And no ‘white’ names (like Snowfall, for instance), since I plan getting a black monkey at lvl 37. A black ape called Snowfall is stupid. >.< No DonkeyKongs either, I wanna keep everything Mario out of this.

Now, what I do want is a name that sound somewhat draenei'ish, or something you could imagine a draenei calling her monkey. The longer, the better, too, since long names makes it look more fancy. And something that makes a plain ol' gorilla stand out :)

And he's male.

I love a hunter who knows her mind! Okay, we’ll do our best with this one and I’m sure we can come up with something that fits.

Last but not least we have Allarr, a night elf hunter with a red gorilla. Allarr writes:

My character’s name is Allarr, and I’ve been playing on him for more than three years now. I recently tamed a gorilla, as per BRK’s strong suggestion, to help me level once Wrath hits the street.

Allarr has gone though lots of pets, and the creation of two extra stable slots literally made me /dance! I play on a normal server, don’t RP, and mostly raid and do instances with my guild (the Angry Penguins!)

I would generally go for a funny name, but I love Warcraft lore, all forms of mythology and
fiction, as well. For an example of what I’m after, I have a wasp named Rumblebee and grinned for a good while when someone in my guild suggested it. So please, help me name my beautiful red gorilladin*!

Anyway, let’s get to the pets. First up is Aranis, a night elf with the guild Stalwart Heroes of Dark Iron. Aranis writes:

As we all know, the new patch [3.0.2 that is. - ed.] was like gods gift to hunters, since with Gorilladin (as BRK put it) and other fantastic upgrades to our pets it’s like we’re a whole new class! Of course, nothing enticed me more when it came to our upgrades in the patch then the aspect of Exotic pets. And lo and behold, Devilsaurs, the T-rex that anyone who has ever transversed Un’goro knows, is tamable and ours for the having!

Of course, it took me three hours and constant messages over the general chat of the area to get this white beauty of raw female power, but hey, it looks fantastic! But the name….that’s something I’m having trouble on. At first, I thought I would just do what I had done for my other pets and name her after one of my favorite shows or something of the like, but I’m stumped on what best fits my Devilsaur.

Overall, I’m wanting something that’s powerful, but not silly, and something that would make me proud for my guild members to go “That’s Aranis’s pet!”.

I love the fact that Aranis sees her devilsaur as a ‘beauty of raw female power’, in part because I’ve always seen her that way too. *grin*

Next up, with the red devilsaur, is dwarven hunter Sergeant Thorondil from Dragonmaw (EU). Thorondil writes:

I tend not to Roleplay, though I have been known to occasionally make an alt on one of the servers, so I’ll just talk about my playstyle: My character is known by the people of Azeroth and Draenor as Sergeant Thorondil. He is a long-time veteran of WoW, was the guild-leader of the Defenders of Azeroth, and has seen about as much as can be seen!

Personally I’m not a hardcore gamer, I don’t have a full PvP set, or epic weapons, but I do have a lot of experience of the game, having played since 2005. I enjoy playing around in the game; collecting pets, pestering the Horde like a fruit-fly, doing one-man suicide runs through Orgrimmar and falling from ridiculous heights onto Halaa. I always try to be polite, even to the Horde (even if they’re unpolite back!) and I only gank other players if I’ve caught them ganking one of us.

I’d like a name that’s mythological, or one that relates to a TV-Series or a movie, preferably one that people will know. My other pets include a Core Hound called Cerberus (the 3-headed dog guarding Hades), a Chimaera called Bellerophon (the slayer of the Chimaera) and a Silithid called Trooper (from, of course, Starship Troopers). I’ve been toying with some names from various films, but I just can’t get the right one for my Devilsaur, and so I call upon other hunters for their help!

If you could help me choose a name, I’d be very grateful, and if you’re a Horde, and on the Dragonmaw (EU) server, please pop into Ironforge for some ale and an arrow or two!

I find it interesting that both today’s hunters often use TV shows to name their pets, but then I tend to use books and games and I suppose it’s the same basic idea. I’m just not very good with remembering TV character names (Dexter being an exception for obvious reasons). This leads to conversations like: “That chick, the military one, the one with the thing for the guy. You know, the one that was invaded by the evil slug-thing that turned out not to be evil.” (Bonus points if you can name the character.)

Anyway! (Sorry for the long aside.) So we’re looking for a powerful name to make Aranis proud, and something mythological or TV/movie related (and recognizable!) for Sergeant Thorondil. Let’s see what we can do!

Now here’s a pet that would make a good bouquet! And yet somehow moths, while elegant and beautiful, aren’t nearly as soft as you might imagine … at least not when they are gnawing on your face!

Anyway, we have two new moth-owners who are looking for names today. First up is Cherixion from Boulderfist, with a simple (but enthusiastic) request:

I need a new name for my pet Moth! I saw it on the PTR and KNEW that it had to be mine! It is a very beautiful pet, and I would like you guys to name it for me! Any names that refer to it as fuzzy, cute, buglike, or pretty.

A Tauren with a moth … at first it struck me as odd, but somehow it just fits.

[edit] And here’s a pic of Cherixion with the newly-named Astura. Cherixion says: “I thought it would fit better than Astur, since I got a little Blue Moth egg. :D And she did totally NOT eat that lynx in the background! >_> Thanks for the helpful names everyone! Good thing she doesn’t eat chain mail. :P”

Next we have a dwarf hunter from Elune named Hemingway. (And make sure you click on the pic to see the whole family portrait.) Hemingway writes:

Hemingway is everything I wanted in a Dwarf Hunter. Named as something of an homage to Ernest Hemingway, I think of him as strong, respectful of nature, and a rugged outdoorsman. I enjoy having my pets’ names mean something, but not necessarily a direct translation from another language.

My other pet, my bear, is named Shardik (taken from the Stephen King “Dark Tower” series). Hemingway will have many a great adventure with his new moth friend, so a great name is a must! Something mythical or nature-oriented, serious, lore-oriented, etc. would be nice. Nothing silly and please, NO Godzilla or Mothra references! Haha.

Anyway, I’m really excited to level my second Hunter to max level, and do it with a brand new pet! Thanks Mania, and thanks fellow readers! Happy Hunting to all!

So for Cherixion we need cute, fuzzy, pretty, bug-like names, and for Hemingway we need something serious, mythical, possibly nature-oriented. Let’s get started!

I was going to call today’s post “A Bouquet of Silithids”, being that we have four lovely creatures in four different vivid and beautiful colors. But silithids are perhaps a little bit too deadly to be going around calling ‘em delicate flowers.

First up is Zinagaro, a troll hunter from the Thrall (PvE) realm. Zinagaro writes:

My name is Zinagaro and I need a spot of help. I can’t think of any great names for this absolutely awesome pet. Hopefully I’ll get some great suggestions from the community though.

Being a Troll, I usually tend to name my pets something that sounds primal in nature — I admit to being a WoWnerd on that part. I love exploring the vast regions of Azeroth in the daytime and raiding at night.

I often had thoughts of what would happen if we could ever tame the silithids, and to my surprise now we can. So out of compassion from old school raiding in AQ I decided to befriend my once-hated enemy, the silithid. Any suggestions are welcome.

Next up is a blood elf hunter named Luminial (or Lumi, as her friends call her) from Zul’jin. Lumi writes:

Ever since the patch, I’ve been going out, testing the new exotic pets. And this is my newest pet, a Silithid. I am gonna use him in PvP for his web ability. Despite not being on an RP server, the story may contain some RP-like stuff since I am an RPer at heart

Luminial the Blood Elf was everything a Hunter should be. Swift, deadly, cunning… She fearlessly stood up to any enemy with a pet by her side. Her first pet, Aidyn, was a beautiful Springpaw Cat from the Eversong Woods.

The two were pretty close, but eventually the poor cat came to a disease which caused him to grow wild and violent. Lumi was forced to release him, sadden by her loss. Not long after, she got a new pet, an armored boar from a place known as Razorfen Kraul. He became her main pet, defending her against any enemy who dared to threaten her. The two hunted all kinds of enemies and defeated them.

Not too long ago, Lumi learned that the Devilsaur, a huge beast that looked like a T-rex, was now tameable. Excited, she placed her boar Dreadtusk away in a stable and rushed to get herself a Devilsaur. She found a beautiful pure white and purple Devilsaur, which became hers within minutes.

She named him “Whitefang” due to his color and his sharp fangs. As she began to leave, she saw something yellow. She saw it. A cunning-looking creature, which she later learned was called a Silithid. She decided at one point, she would tame one.

After training her Devilsaur to perfection, she went back to the former home of Whitefang. She searched all over, eventually finding the Silithids. Finding one away from the others, she took her chance. She began to tame it. Instinctively, the beast attacked in self defense. She shut an eye, enduring the harsh blows.

Her spirit began to bond with this beast’s. Their minds becoming one. Their very being began to come together, becoming one. And finally, the beating creased, and the creature stood by her side, ready for action. With a small grin, Lumi went off, her new pet following loyally behind her…

And now, I want to find a name for him. As you’re aware, my two other pets are Dreadtusk the boar and Whitefang the devilsaur; I want a name that is similar to those two. Something in the front, with the name of a body part on the silithid. Try to make it sound cunning-ish, or a name any Alliance would think twice of messing with. Thank you for the help!

Now let’s hop over to the Alliance side! Knyghtlander, a night elf hunter from the Fenris realm, writes:

After having come of age AFTER the final battle atop the world tree, Knyght felt the hero’s call. As he started his journey out from Teldrassil, he could feel the bonds of the various animals around him. So it was that he decided he would answer the Hero’s call as a Hunter.

He tamed many animals as he worked his way around the world. Traveling to many places, even dangerous ones. He traveled to the Outland where even more exotic beasts called home. Finally he settled on two of them: WinterHarte (named after his druid partner for she loved serpents and was enthralled when he found an ice-blue Wind Serpent) and Evangalina, a Dragonhawk he spent many days travesing the Botanica to find and call to him (named after a guildie who was just as much a spitfire as the Dragonhawk).

Now with the frozen wastes of Northrend blowing their cold wind upon the world, Knyght thought back and decided that he must have a third true companion to call friend and partner. He remembered the buzzing wastes of Silithus and decided to try and find what he yearned for there. After settling Eva & Winter into their stable stalls, he embarked out from Cenarion Hold.

Moving quietly thru the dunes and constant background buzz, he almost literally stumbled upon her. Finding himself so close without frighterning her, he set his mind and quietly whistled at her. She whirled around and out of camoflauge. She charged him, but Knyght was ready. He dropped his trap to slow her down, and then started humming the tune he had first learned, hoping by the time she was finally upon him, that instead of feasting upon him, she would instead befriend him.

As luck would have it, his tuneless hum to her worked. She finished her slowed charge, and lightly headbutted him for a tidbit to eat. So Knyght now has found his third friend and partner to continue his journey into the northern wastes with. But alas, what should the saga’s know her as?

This is actually my fourth tame since we now have 5. I also tamed Kurken, but she was already named after my four-legged baby girl. I’ve thought and thought, and haven’t been ableto think of a name for this Ambusher. Not many so far to my knowledge have tamed any of the bugs, but she has proven worthy of the taming so far. I turn to those who are like me and love bein a hunter to help me craft a worthy name.

And finally we have a simple request from a Draenei by the name of Nessima. Nessima writes:

I am a very pet crazy person. So far I managed to level three level 70 hunters. And I aim to tame one of each color pet in the entire game … so alot more hunters are ahead of me.

Anyhow … my latest level 70 hunter just tamed a lovely rare Silith. I normally dont have any trouble naming my pet, but this exotic one is giving me a bit of a headache. :) I’m both looking for fun, serious etc. names. I am not a roleplayer on Nessima.

Nessima’s others pets are the blue cat from Winterspring named Tsunami (I thought that was sooo brilliant), and a tanking turtle named Snøvsen (a Danish name). But my little critter Silith needs a new name … so maybe you could help! :)

I love the variety of pets that are coming in with Name That Pet requests these days. Sure, some people have always had the less-popular pets, but so often it was lion-lion-raptor-lion. (Not that there’s anything wrong with lions and raptors, of course.)

But look what we’ve got today: not one but two blood elf hunters who have chosen to hunt with a white bear from Dun Morogh! And both of these hunters have stories to tell about how they chose their new companions.

First up is Belysior:

I recently made a casual bank alt on my PVE server, but this little hunter is becoming more than just a bank alt! I ended up running him all the way to Ironforge to tame the white bear model of Mangeclaw. I plan on soloing instances on him and getting a feel for how hunters have changed since I leveled my 70.

Belysior comes from a family with a long history of tradition to the Farstriders. As the latest in his line to take up the mantle of the hunter, the young blood elf found himself slightly apathetic to the idea of taming the traditional – but common – lynxes or dragonhawks. His ranger mentors despaired of ever seeing him bonded with a pet due to his picky attitude towards the local creatures, and even those he went to investigate in Tirisfal and Silverpine.

But suddenly his interest was sparked by tales told by the dwarven ambassador of a fierce white bear roaming the snowy peaks of his homeland. Unfortunately the ambassador’s stay was short-lived (*cough*) but though the tales were likely embellished Belysior found the image of the white bear hard to shake. The young hunter – normally disdainful of the excesses of Silvermoon – took to the libraries for weeks. He poured over stories and maps, then took off to the south.

What trials he faced on his journey none know, but his Farstrider companions forgave him going A.W.O.L. when they saw him return with a grin on his face and an exotic companion at his side.

I’m looking for at least a semi-serious name to go with a semi-serious young hunter. Either something nature related or that would sound fitting for a Blood Elf to name a white bear.

I love this story. I can really sympathize with the young blood elf who wanted something different and exciting, and found what he was looking for in the tales of a visiting dwarf. So I really hope we can find something wonderful for Belysior’s bear.

Next up is Vynadrae, another young blood elf with a different but also fascinating tale to tell:

A young, level 27 Blood Elf Hunter, Vynadrae, from the realm of Bonechewer (PvP) has just traveled to the depths of Alliance territory, Dun Morogh, to tame herself one of the only low level polar bears in the game. Thankfully, due to the newest patch release, her fine specimen jumped up from level 9 to level 22. This tenacious pet (pun intended) is sure to be with Vyn for many more levels to come.

She can recall the day she met a fellow hunter — orc was his race — who stood tall and proud next to his own white bear. She whispered, “Where did you get your pet?!” He laughed and told her, “Winterspring, of course.” After looking it up on the map, she found it. Winterspring. And then she noticed the level range … way too high for her!

So what was the next step? Petopia, obviously. Finally, she found it.. a Mangeclaw.. from none other than the Alliance territory of Dun Morogh. She had no idea how she would make the journey from her current home of Ashenvale, to the woods of Dun Morogh. Then, she had an idea: currently, her account was linked with her husband’s, thanks to the “recruit-a-friend” system. Her sister, a high level priest, made the journey easily, and summoned her husband there. Once he was there, he was able to then summon Vynadrae. Vyn was ecstatic when she saw the polar bear that would soon be hers: those sky-blue eyes and snowy white fur fascinated her.

She had heard that these bears could be hard to tame, because of their ability to swipe.. but that was not hard for the beast master: Vynadrae. Once he was hers, he took to her like bread on butter, and the two were inseperable. The only thing stopping them now was the need for a name for her new companion.

I’ve tamed quite a few pets before: Humar the Pridelord, snow leopards, serpents, etc.. but I’ve always been able to name them easily. This one has proven to be quite a challenge to name, however. I don’t want anything funny — personally, I dislike those kind of pet names. I would prefer a name that has some sort of meaning behind it.. nothing random, either. Sorry for being so picky, I just want it to be the perfect name for the perfect pet.

I can understand wanting the perfect name! After all, that’s why we’re here.

So to sum up, we need a semi-serious name for Belysior, perhaps something nature-related or suitable for a blood elf. For Vynadrae we need a name with meaning behind it. Let’s see what we can do!

Apparently there’s just something about chimaeras and dwarves. Or maybe it’s Nuramoc in particular — maybe having a huge flapping purple monstrosity by your side is just the bee’s knees for a dwarf. (I guess I shouldn’t really make fun — I mean, Kaet likes crabs.)

At any rate, we’ve got three hunters today that need help finding the perfect name for their purple monstrosity — two handsome dwarven fellows and a very stylish blood elf. The dwarves are up first.

Torgar Troggstalker writes:

I tamed this beauty on Beta, having gotten quite lucky in finding him at the first time of asking. Live server was a whole different matter and it’s taken me constant circuits of Netherstorm before I finally got lucky today.

For some reason everyone is running around with Core Hounds on my server, which I find a little odd as we are a PvP server and as many of you know, the classes we struggle with are Melee, not Casters.

Anyway, this pet will be my PvP pet, but I am really stuck as to what to name him. (It’s definately a ‘him’ — I checked!) [How?! No, no, I don't really want to know. - ed.]

My pet since level 25 has been the Black Skinned Lion (Humar) who I named Nightfang. My grinding tank is the white Gorilla who is named Avalanche so I like my pets’ names to reflect their appearance and purpose/demeanor somewhat. Night and fang for obvious reasons, and Avalanche because he’s white and hits you like a truck and nothing stands in his way.

What possible names could we have that represent this purple 2 headed monster?? (And avoid the obvious jokes please!!) [Yes, please do! - ed.]

The second dwarf to write in with a request for Nuramoc is Nelmug of Steamwheelde Cartel-EU. Nelmug writes:

The chimera in question is Nuramok from Netherstorm – it took 3 days of hunting for her, and suffering fierce competition a few times before I could claim her as mine.

Nelmug is your average dwarf in many ways, he likes ale and explosives – especially when combined. But instead of just going out and shooting stuff like most of his fellow dwarf hunters he’s usually experimenting with one of his contraptions in an unending quest to modernize the way of the hunt. Despite his good intentions, he hasn’t shown any real success thus far.

The “Big Picture” stuff tends to elude him, he doesn’t really feel concerned about the Burning Legion, the Lich King or such matters. He ‘d rather avoid such dangerous affiliations if at all possible. But the family funds are running low, and as the eldest sun he has started exploring the world out there looking for an opportunity to sell some of his “inventions” and, perhaps, a little fame and glory.

I play on an RP-realm so I’d prefer a mythical or lore-based name.

Finally there’s that stylish blood elf I mention, complete with sombrero. Ethgri of the Runetotem realm writes:

I just recently nabbed this beauty waiting outside Tempest Keep and was wondering if the hunter community could help me out with names.

I quite enjoy naming pets after Warcraft and Starcraft lore, such as Mutalisk, but anything’s open. Yes, I have had suggested: PurplePeopleEater, PrplPeplEter, PrplGnomeEter, etc. — and I do enjoy those kind of ideas as well. Anything along these lines and many more is greatly appreciated and nothing could or would be ignored!

Ethgri seems pretty easy going for a blood elf!

Okay, so we need one mythical or lore-based name for Nelmug (on a RP realm, remember), and we’ve got two hunters who are wide open to names. So whaddya think?

As you might imagine, the plethora of new pets in Patch 3.0 has lead to an veritable flood of Name That Pet requests. So I’m gonna cheat and double some up. Today: that sexy black devilsaur!

First up is a request from a troll hunter named Tukuta:

Hi, my name is Tukuta and my pet is a devilsaur. I’m looking for a great name. His name on the PTR was Jaws, but that was a placeholder until I can get him on the real servers. I don’t role-play but here is my devilsaurs story.

I was running in the wilderness when I spotted an elusive and crafty beast. While so large, he always snuck up on me as a young Hunter. Now it’s my turn. I spotted the huge creature’s tracks and followed him to what seemed to be where he was born, an abandoned nest.

He was desperately searching for a friend, so that’s when I learned my destiny, to put this Mighty animal to peace. We have been close ever since, defeating many foes.

I’m looking for a name thats reminds me of a troll, as they seem like dinosaur-y kinda guys. Something to strike fear into the hearts of my enemies.

Next is a troll hunter named Torthrasher from Madoran:

I caught a brand new devilsaur today. It took me a while to track it down in Un’Goro crater — it almost seemed like it was hunting me for a while. I kept getting quick glances of it before it disappeared. I’d like a fierce vicious name able to strike fear into my Alliance foes right before they feel the wrath of my pet and hear the quick twang of my bowstring. I usually play fast and take my enemies down as quickly as possible.

I usually pick my own names for all my pets. I’ve never taken anyone else’s suggestion, but I’ve racked my brain trying to think up a suitable name for this quick and fierce creature and nothing sounds just perfect.

And finally we have a simple request from a night elf hunter named Cronoras:

I’m sure since the patch you’ve been flooded with name requests for the exotic pets that are obtainable right now, but I was hoping I could get you to post my request for a name for my new Devilsaur. I’m looking for all types of names.

Sometime it’s the simplest requests that are the most fun. Forbeef, a Tauren hunter from Scarlet Crusade, sent me this request:

Since I’m a Tauren I’m big and gentle but not afraid to fight. So I decide to find a pet that was mean.

After an hour of searching I fond Goreclaw and wasted no time taming him. My friend and I spent a week thinking of names for him but we came up with nothing. So we gave up for the time.

One day I was looking up pets and found your site and saw your Name That Pet page. So I thought if my friend and I couldn’t think of a name why couldn’t someone else think of one?

I’m looking for a name that’s not funny or silly and has a cool ring to it that goes with the pet. Can you help?

I hope we can! ‘Cause that’s what we’re here for. *grin* Okay, guys — what’s the perfect name for this Tauren’s raptor?

Among the influx of new and exotic pets, some hunters are focusing on the basics: a loyal wolf, a hulking bear … or in this case, a cunning giant spider!

Thtswatshesd, a 36 orc hunter in the Outland Outrunners guild on Mok’nathal writes:

Thtswatshesd, a 36 orc hunter, was fascinated by Bloodmyst and Azuremyst Isle bestiary. So he set out to get a Ravager.

But while he was going around Bloodmyst Isle, he saw the dreaded Zarakh. He had heard stories of level 70s running away in terror from such a beast! It charged at him but he was too frozen to move. But he unsheathed his axe and killed it with a couple of blows.

He knelt down to loot the corpse when he saw that it was only a level 19 spider. He knelt in sorrow … and at the same instant an egg hatched and out another one came. It charged, but this time he was ready.

He tamed the beast and returned to Orgrimmar. But he needed a good name for it.

That is why I am asking you. I know you can think up a good name for this dreaded beast. A funny or dark-themed name would be good.

Zarakh is one of my three favorite spiders. I’m certain we can come up with some great suggestions for this unique and terrifying pet.

In honor of Patch 3.0, today’s Name That Pet request features the prettiest of the new pets: a shimmering, royal blue moth!

With the new patch, I’ve learned that – finally – I can tame the one pet I’ve wanted since I first saw their majestic beauty in Bloodmyst Isle … the shimmering blue moth.

To make sure this was a pet that I would want to keep and level up – after all, it’ll be tough to stable my cat named Zella (originally the rare spawn Rak’shiri, tamed well before Shy-Rotam was summonable by Alliance) that I’ve had since level 58 through 70 – I transferred my hunter, Stutterfly (from the realm Cenarion Circle US) over to the PTR.

I tried the exotic pets. Devilsaur was, to me, a disappointment, especially after how tough he was to get (took me three days of constantly trying to find one of three Devilsaurs and there were always at least five other level 70 hunters in the zone who, I guarantee you, were looking for the same mobs as me). Core Hound was … rather unsightly, really. I tamed The Kurken and it was just … big. Really big. And the graphics (especially the white fire on his back) were rather annoying and I know would get to me sooner rather than later.

I just about gave up trying to tame the new pets and relegated myself to my old tried and true friend, Zella, when I remembered about the moths being tameable. I checked Petopia and headed out to the Eco-Dome in Netherstorm, where I tamed the beauty in the picture. Even at level 68, I was having fun killing things with her, and more importantly, the moth was fun and aesthetically pleasing, which, let’s face it, has to be a factor as a Beast Mastery hunter – your pet is your life.

So, when the 3.0.2 patch finally went live, the first thing I did was head out to Netherstorm to get the shimmerwing moth for real. The question is… what should I name her?

The only real criteria I have for names is that they are female (nearly all of Stutterfly’s pets have been female, so it’s more just a running thing now) and sound at least somewhat RP-ish (i.e. no names like “HordeWrecker” or “KillerMoth”, as funny as those are, lol …) and other than that, just something that sounds beautiful, I suppose. I’ll know the right name when I see it, as any good hunter should.

So how about it? What great suggestion do you have for this gorgeous creature?
