So recovering from this damned surgery is taking me much longer than I anticipated … and it’s mostly my fault. The surgical incision is healing up nicely – no trouble there – but I keep doing stupid things that end me up back in bed for days at a time.

As I mentioned in my last post, I was scheduled for surgery at the end of June to remove the cancerous tumor in my leg. I thought the couple of you who were interested might want an update.
(That’s gentle sarcasm, by the way. I was blown away by how many people commented, posted, and e-mailed with their kind thoughts and well-wishes. I’ve tried to take a pretty equanimous approach to this whole cancer thing, but when it gets overwhelming I take comfort from all the wonderful, generous people who have sent their support.)
A couple of months ago, I went to see a doctor about a lump on my lower left thigh, just above the knee. An MRI indicated that the lump was likely a rhabdomyosarcoma – a cancerous tumor – although I would need a biopsy to be sure.
I had intended to post something cute about porcupines until I was distracted by silkworms, but the most recent beta build (15689) is so full of amazing hunter pet news that I’m just going to skip all the adorable and go straight to the awesome.
New pet families. Fen Striders. Basilisks. Goats. Quilen. Plus Cranes and Porcupines, which were probable shoe-ins for new pet families.
But in case you missed the important part, let me repeat:

Right now in the Mists of Pandaria beta, hunter pets have an interesting bug where they retain their pre-tamed size. As you can imagine, this causes a lot of fun and confusion in town when hunters pull out their King Krush and Chromaggus.
But my favorite stupidly huge pet in the MoP beta, bar none, is Terokkarantula.
