Flotsam & Jetsam

According to Wikipedia:

Flotsam is floating wreckage of a ship or its cargo. Jetsam is part of a ship, its equipment, or its cargo that is purposefully cast overboard or jettisoned to lighten the load in time of distress and that sinks or is washed ashore. Lagan is cargo that is lying on the bottom of the ocean, sometimes marked by a buoy, which can be reclaimed. Derelict is cargo that is also on the bottom of the ocean, but which no one has any hope of reclaiming.

You learn something new every day. Now that I know the difference between flotsam and jetsam, I suspect that this blog is now jetsam, not flotsam. But that word reminds me too much of the Jetsons … whom I never liked very well, primarily because of Jane’s skirt.

At any rate! If you’ve been following this blog – and I apologize if you have because there’s been a whole lot of nothing to follow – you may have noticed that … well, there’s been a whole lot of nothing to follow. I posted all of seven times in 2011 (not including guest posts). That’s … not worth reading. (Although the guests posts were good.)

The truth is, all the interesting pet stuff has moved firmly and inexorably to the Petopia forums. You want pet news? It’s fresher there. You want to talk about pets? Show off your pets? Bitch about pet tames? All there. Mounts and mini-pets and general hunter stuff, too. The community there is way faster than I ever was with posting the news and figuring stuff out. It’s a great, friendly, knowledgeable community and I love them to death.

But it leaves the question open … what do I do with this blog? After thinking about it off and on for months, I decided to turn this into a more general purpose personal blog … despite the risk of boring my remaining three readers to death. Since my personal life, such as it is, revolves almost entirely around the internet – especially MMO games – I figure maybe it will be interesting enough to read.

I guess we’ll see.

By the way, I’ve adopted Google+ as my general social community of choice. Feel free to circle me there.

Well, you did leave that option open when you called your blog Mania’s Arcania and separated it out from the Petopia news on the front page.

You and BBB are actually the only ‘WoW’ blogs I kept in my feed reader after I stopped playing earlier this year :)

I’ve missed the blog posts, and the pet-centricness of it, I admit, but I am looking forward to the new format as well. I’m a sucker for reading about people I like, so am perilously hard to get rid of!

Egad! People are still watching. I’d better hide – quick! *grin*

I’m taking a short break from WoW myself right now, using the time mostly for reading and writing.

I miss the updates too, but it doesn’t really bother me if they’re infrequent or not WoW pet related; I might have started reading for that, but I kept reading because I like your humour and the things you write about. I’m glad you’re keeping the blog whatever path you take it down in the future. :-)

Love the looks of the site now.. I had to do a double take at first; wondering what had happened to the site.. I have mania’sarcania as one of 4 tabs for my web roamings. Glad to see some new stuff

I’ve circled you over on G+! Feel free to circle me back if you like.

I think keeping this blog instead of making a new one was a smart choice. I know I lot a lost of readers when I jumped from Aspect of the Hare to Clockwork Hare (and then from Clockwork Hare to The Android’s Closet… yes, I blog entirely too much.) But on the other hand I couldn’t have really stayed around, with the game- (and even class-) specific name. Best of luck with the new blog endeavors! I’ll be reading! :3
