I’ve been desperate for Uldum to open ever since I got into the Cataclysm beta. There are ways – unapproved ways – into Uldum right now, but since my main interest is (of course) the creatures there, and since the zone at this point seems mostly unpopulated, getting in doesn’t do me much good. I need the zone to be done. Or at least opened by Blizzard.
But today MMO Champion featured a new Uldum video by TotalBiscuit and shared some of their own Uldum screenshots to give us a taste of the zone. You can see the lack of mob population, but you can also see a few hints of the beasts that may live in Uldum.
In particular, I see some brown hyenas, some red scorpids, and a new brown Cataclysm-style crocolisk.
Now it’s quite possible that these beasts are placeholders or that they will be replaced with something else entirely. Again, the zone is unfinished enough that Blizzard isn’t even letting players fly over it yet unless they exploit world physics to get there.
But the brown crocolisks seem pretty safe. As a new model, I suspect that they wouldn’t be used as a placeholder anyway, and they occur right where you would expect them – on the swampy banks of a river that winds through the desert in a very Nile-like fashion.
We don’t know for certain, of course, but – as always! – I have my fingers crossed that we’ll see Uldum open up in the next beta patch.

Edit: Looks like the brown croc isn’t the only Cataclysm-style crocolisk in unfinished Uldum right now: nobbie of WorldofWar.de sent me a great screenshot of a white Catacylsm croc. Again, this is a snipped portion of the image; click it to see the whole thing.
I’m still hoping that the blue scorpids that have been displaced from the Barrens will find their way to Uldum! That could be why they haven’t been found yet.

Yeah, but kinda cute spam. Apparently Mania is worth $843, or less than a third of some of the top-ranked characters on my server. :)
Anyway – I’m hoping this clearing of beta pets will help fix the hunters who’ve been stuck without pets for the past three weeks. And it gives me a good opportunity to recopy Mania (to check on her slime).
I want the green one from Loch Modan.. Hope they’ll make a non-rare version of him too. :P
Also, regarding the spam.. I’d guess that site is bugged. My sorry little excuse for a character is worth 643$ while my brother’s Bane of the Lich King is only 363..
I’ve always wanted a crocolisk but didn’t really like the colours of those in-game right now. I have to say though, I’m really liking the look of the new white one! I should definitely try and “snap” one up when Cataclysm is live.
Off-topic: That spam isn’t too bad. I thought it was going to offer some sort of service (not that I wanted one, I’m just nosy), but it’s just for fun. My main is worth $741.51 so don’t feel too bad, Mania. :D
One of my Orc’s early pets was a crocolisk. At first I just got him to train, like Bite rank 2 or something (remember when we had to do that?) and then I found I loved the guy. I even named him something corny like “Snuggles” or “Buttercup” or “Huggybear” and I just could not quit him.
That seems to happen to my hunters though? like, they find their pet match? It’s hard to recapture that magic. #longboringstoriesfromanerd
Will the new crocolisks still do that annoying breath/snap thing every few seconds? That’s always prevented me from taming one … and truth be told, makes me move away from any hunter that has one out, because it annoys me so much…

Thought I’d chime in with the price on my main hunter – Zarra – Uldum – She is almost worth 1900 :D – my original Alli hunter though Demnos is only just over 400 :(
