Frequent commenter and sharer-of-screenshots nobbie of WorldofWar.de contacted me with some excellent news from the Cataclysm beta: the appearance of a silver fox!
(No, not Wolverine’s lover.)
Previously we knew about three tameable fox colors: black, brown, and red. All three colors can be tamed in Redridge Mountains and the the browns red ones are also available in Loch Modan. (This is true in build 12604, anyway — as always, things in beta change quickly and continually.)
Edit: I swear the Hill Foxes in Loch Modan used to be brown. Ah, well.
But while questing in Silverpine with a new undead hunter, nobbie ran across a silver Highlands Fox:
It’s a white, so-called “Highland Fox” (level 14) which suddenly popped up while I was doing the newly implemented Forsaken quest chain in Silverpine Forest. It spawns during battle at the Forsaken front in Gilneas, so I assume it is phased (quest: “In Time, All Will Be Revealed”).
I’m not familiar with the new Silverpine quests, but it sounds like this may be a Horde-only pet at the moment. Still, once the color is in we can always beg, plead and bribe Blizzard to make it more available! *grin*

Your subject line sums it all up. Looks pretty spiffy with an undead hunter too.
Those red eyes make it look possessed.
Some additional notes:
- Since you don’t have an ice trap at level 14, this fox furiously attacks you when you try to tame it. I lost about 80% of my health during the taming process. The channeling didn’t break, though.
- There were also Gilnean bullmastiffs in the same area. Although they appeared hostile to me and can be attacked, I couldn’t tame them (as horde).
