Patch 3.1.3 launched today with very little fanfare. And for good reason — there isn’t much in it. As always, you can read the official patch notes on the official WoW site. And here’s the only two notes for hunters:
- Hunter’s Mark: The ranged attack power bonus from this ability has been increased from 300 to 500.
- Master Marksman: This talent now also decreases the cost of Aimed Shot and Chimera Shot by 5/10/15/20/25%.
As always, drop me a line if you run across any other hunter or pet-related changes!
This patch also contained the first nerf to DK tanks since moving howling blast to the 51 point frost talent :’(
I’m liking the hunter buffs. It should help with MM’s mana issues, I’m not sure if it’s enough, but it certainly helps.
So, judging by those patch notes, only the level 80 Hunter’s Mark is changed. Anyone know if the lower level ones were increase by the same %?
I don’t feel much difference on my DK in regards to the 20% diff in Frost Presence. But I –am– a Frost-DK.
In regards to Hunters: I wish there were more challenging and unique pets in the game. I mean the spirit beasts were a good step in the right way but I see ALOT of them on my server. (Kael’Thas-US) The ghost wolves were a great example: Unique skin, very very hard to tame, great sense of accomplishments. Again, not to belittle the spirit beasts; just saying I’d like to see more ‘uniques’.

aurg does this mean talents reset again? I’d just gone thru 3 retalents from the last patch! aaauuurg.
@ Faulken; you kinda prove the point of, it’s silly to make spirit beasts do less dps. Those who really want them would go for them :/
Ah well. Unique, or not, rare or not, I still gz hunters horde side that get STD cat or Loque. It’s better than the -other- whispers you can get for having them.
Well, at least they didn’t nurf Hunters again. Seeing how we got our pets served to us on a silver platter by OP Pallys and Death Knights.
And they are saying they are going to add mitigation for Resilience from the Hunter to the Pet, still wont save them from 2 shots though.
Ok sorry to say but those buffs still need Improvements!! I will probably get flack from non hunters but now hunters need to be unnerfed!! I do play pvp for gear but mainly for fun.. WhY you say well other classes have surpassed hunters in power big time and now with all the bubbles from pallies priests mages also DKs and now warlocks? omg Blizzard?? At one time sure hunters was the major DPS now ya made hunters easy pray!! If the opponent gets close which ya try to avoid like crazy you slim to no chance unless you have scattershot a small glimmer of hope!! Disengage is useful if you havent been hamstringed poisoned frosted and with Dks now they just pull ya back ouch!!I have seen Casters with more and more hp then some hunters I know its gear.. But have seen warlocks with a bubble a few times and I thought he was a priest till i seen his felhunter going after a pally and No there ws no priest in the area! LOL UNnerf Hunters!! LOL have fun my Hunting friends
sorry I failed to mention the all new fun of the new rogue stunlock combo where you have no chance at all
1) go beastmaster.
2) go to 1 – and solve all your pvp problems.
@ WTF
LoL.
Just.
LoL.
I’m sorry but do you even play a hunter? Do you even play BM? Seriously? As BM you have TWO buttons really, for pvp. The rest? You’re a sitting target. As MM you can sniper- but like BM you’re still a target. As SV it has the most survivability of them all pvp wise- tho fighting them as MM was fun ..
But again. Going BM does NOT solve the problems- you think the rogues, pallies and etc will stop doing damage just cause oooh big and red? no.
Are movement impairing effects a death toll for Hunter’s more than others? Absolutely. So set up Master’s Call to target yourself and grab two movement clearing trinkets and get to work. Yes, pallies and DK’s will likely mop the floor with you, especially if they know what they’re doing. Yes a rogue will stunlock you and flay the meat from your bones. Get used to it.
As for the boost in AP, it’s quite appreciated, especially if you or another raid Hunter is Imp. HM. Since I havn’t tried MM for raiding I can’t say how the other buff feels but after getting my dps handed to me in a baggie by a MM Hunter the other day, I’m considering giving it a shot as my second spec.
P.S. Snowtiger,
“I was ranting” is not a very valid excuse for lack of spelling and grammar. Please proofread, it does wonders for your credibility.
Not to get too much into this conversation, but Agadax is correct.
PvP has always been a “rock paper scissors” theme in WoW. Always. Unfortunately it isn’t Hunter’s turn to be on top of most classes right now… Too bad. Deal with it and learn what you can kill best, and simply focus on that right now. It’ll cycle around.
Hunters have the highest DPS and hitpoints in my raiding guild. If you want to know how to set your achievements for PVP look up the top ranked hunters on your servers they are all SV. DK do avoid the nerf bat allot and I will admit that right outa the box my lil DK is over powered, but in PVP Hunters own period.
I’m also Dual Spec BM and got Gondria about 2 weeks ago by the steps on the south end of the zone no place holder. Did you know you can respec your pet and reset your stable call at will with dual spec? Simply switch from SV to BM spec to reset your stable, and then spend all your pets talents in BM spec. When you switch back to SV for max dps in raid your pet will have all talents availible again.
SV FTW your pet is a trinket that can’t taunt DKs. Get yourself a crab and Pin them down for the 3 secs it takes to kill them with Explosive Shot.
