*tap tap tap* Is this thing on?
So yeah, I haven’t been posting much lately. I thought I’d take a moment and tell you about some of the things I’ve been up to, both in and out of WoW.
Unfortunately, a lot of what I’ve been doing is work. My husband is involved in a tiny startup that’s been gearing up to launch a big project — well, a big project for a tiny start-up! — and I’ve been helping out with that rather more than I’d like.
For me, this means lots of very boring PHP, HTML, and CSS work. I’ve also got another contract on the side that involves a lot of very boring Java work. (Can you tell I’m bored with my work?)
In our joint free time, we’ve been spending quality time together catching up with the most recent seasons of Heroes, Lost, Reaper, Lie To Me (yay, Rosencrantz!) and *shudder* Supernatural. (We haven’t started our backlog of Battlestar Galactica yet, so no spoilers, please!)
We also watched the second and last season of Blood Ties, which led me to read the books that the TV show was based on. (I have an unfortunate soft spot for supernatural mystery/romance … or as I call it, vampire pr0n.)
But despite those obligations I’ve managed to spend a little time each day playing WoW –usually just enough time, in fact, to kill 15 Scourge, defeat 4 Champions, kill one dragon named Chillmaw and beat down a Commander and his friends.
Yes, I have been playing primarily for the Argent Tournament. (And until recently you could add 3 Valiants and a long trip to see a princess to that list. But now, thankfully, I am a 5-way Champion and I don’t have to do those bits. I saved the Wart-B-Gone Lip Balm, though — I love the taste of that stuff!)
My Argent Tournament obsession has paid off with, so far, three lovely minipets and five excellent new mounts. In fact, my White Skeletal Warhorse has displaced my Swift Zhevra as my most frequently-ridden ground mount. There’s just something about the silvery sparkles he leaves in his wake …
But the Argent Tournament minipets have their own interesting story. I wasn’t intending to get any of the minipets until I had more of the mounts, but a few weeks ago I saw a level 2 Blood Elf in the Trade channel, looking to trade the Alliance tournament pets for Horde pets.
Alliance pets are just becoming available on my realm, and they are going for thousands and thousands of gold. Now eventually I will be able to afford them, as the price falls, but it’s going to be quite a while I’m sure. In the meantime, a one-for-one trade is a very convenient way for me to get my hands on these pets earlier rather than later. and each minipet moves me closer to my Little Fawn.
(This is especially convenient for me since my trading partner is doing all the hard work of moving the pets between factions! She says she is repaid by my willingness to help, but that’s hardly enough. I’m going to have to figure out some way to pay her back for being such a great trading partner.)
So far I have an Ammen Vale Lashling, a Dun Morogh Cub, and a Teldrassil Sproutling. The Sproutling is my favorite: I named him Soterios.
(By the way, you can see my entire minipet collection at Warcraft Pets. I keep it pretty well updated.)
So the Argent Tournament has been taking most of my rather thin playing time. But here and there I’ve also cleared some time on my days off for more extensive playing.
With my slime by my side I have braved the depths of Coilfang Reservoir and emerged the triumphant owner of both a Tiny Sporebat and a Cenarion War Hippogryph!
(In the pic to the right, the poor little Tiny Sporebat was run off by Murkimus the Gladiator.)
I know, I know, doing the (non-heroic) Underbog and Steamvaults at level 80 is hardly something to brag about. But I’d never been all the way through them before, so it was fun. (Slightly less fun the tenth time or so, but overall the rep grind wasn’t too bad.)
Unfortunately, the attractions of my slime means that I’ve been leaving Cloud, my cat and main hunting companion since level 23, in the stable. Cloud is not at all happy about this turn of affairs. And I’m honestly not sure how I feel about it. I do love my slime, but … Cloud’s been a faithful companion for a very long time.
Anyway … that’s a few of the things I’ve been up to.
(Oh, and this is the third straight day of rain here. I am beginning to keep an eye out for animals marching past two-by-two.)

I have checked regualarly to see if you have posted even though you hadn’t in over two weeks, gratz on all the cool mounts and pets!
I totally feel ya Mania. I haven’t been posting on my blog either lately (oh I’m ashamed) due to real life issues with college. Statistics man, it’s evil!
Grats on that sweet Forsaken Horse, I love that mount. Other than the new ogrimmar wolf, its the best mount out of the AT in my opinion.
And yeah, day 3 of solid rain? In California, we’d consider that to be the sign of the coming Apocalypse XD
Sorry about the boring bits, Mania; congratulations on all the neat mounts and minipets. I’ll have to look over your minipets on my break today; I’m Teech over at WarcraftPets.
I’m so with you on the Vampire prOn. I seam to be stuck in that very good funk to lol. The Black Dagger Brotherhood books are very good if you have not read them yet. And the dark hunter books that I have read are good to. I would recomend them if you have run out of others toread. The is another vampre seareis of books i’m reading now but I forgot the name of them lol. Happy reading, and grats on all the neat new “stuff”
A suggestion coming from an alliance player on how to give the best gift you can to that little belf (since you like that he’s doing all that work) is -try- to farm up a Black Tabby for them. If they already have it, that’s fine. It’s more than adequate compensation for all their hard work (whether they use it or sell it). It’s an exceptionally rare little devil for the alliance, and whether you get it or not, it’s the thought that counts. :)
0.o I want that tree minipet for my druid. But I haven’t even gotten to the second rank in the argent tourney yet…
Mania, hey i don’t know if this has been posted before but last night I was on my hunter and they’ve now fixed the Ghost Wolf for tamed pets.
It now runs along side the hunter as normal and no longer does the funny trot thing it used to do. I’m sure its also scaling in size properly now as mine seemed much bigger than I remembered.
Basically it looks like an even more beautiful pet.
Heh, I know what your saying about running outland instances at lvl 80, I too tried the rep grind, but with less luck then you it seems. Gets repetitive, but does allow you too grind up some gold on a server that is flooded with gold farmers… :\ On a side note though: Don’t have my hunter too 80 yet too try it out, but with a warrior, grinding blood furnace and ramparts can line your toons pocket book fairly nicely and in relitively short order (100g/hour minimum with vendered items and gold drops) Might help you build up some more funds there Mania. Although you probably get that much from the AT quests.
As for the rain, don’t worry too much unless you see Murlocs move in next door. “Mrrrugellrrrgrll!”
I’m thinking of dropping $40 to stream the BlizzCon just for the mini-pet.
Well ty Mania, been kinda in a funk on my hunter but seeing you spending time to get the Griff- and I was confused a moment, thought you meant the slime, vanity pet, not the crocoslime, grats on the tame btw.
Mean lately just been doing dailies to earn up 900g that Aria loaned me [to allow me to buy three of the turny mounts], farming rep might be a good thing to do. Get me back into keeping Ryai as my main and not a farmer.
The expression on the saplings face is classic ^-^ its like “wait your not a night elf”
Heh, someone’s been busy :) I’ve considered getting someone to help trade pets across factions – and it shouldn’t be hard, since the RP community on my server shares a forum and events between factions, so I know people. But, I just got to champion with Darnassus last night. On a nelf. *is so lazy*
I have named my squire Nate, and right away I WTFpwned the Black Knight, then immediately went to become a Valiant for Ironforge. xD I wants me the oldschool-style ram! Plus IF just fits my character better, RP-wise. I just hope I can hold on to 500g long enough to be able to buy it. xP
Well, they’re more teenager or Tween books, but Vampire Plagues (1-3, haven’t gotten to read 4-6) are fairly good books, they’re not super romantic, but they’re vampire awesomeness to the end.
Eeee, tree! I’ve been trading with Horde friends on my server and the tree is by far the most popular little guy. xD I have a baby link flamingo running by my side at the moment, though I can’t wait to get back to my tree and black bear (who matches my first and favorite pet ;) ). Congratulations on getting such a lovely hookup!
Mania:
Now I had to ask. Does the teldrassil mini-pet actually that color? I use a patch thingy to change druid forms (cause holy crap defaults are atrocious) and that tree looks almost identical to my altered tree form.
And if that *is* how it looks, why isnt NE tree form standardized to that color XD
I just want to remember that one pet group is still *not* working as designed, and I am really wondering why Mania isn’t recognizing that – the silithids are still not able to learn ‘dash’ nor subsequent improvements of ‘dash’.
Blizz reported that as a “display problem”, but it isn’t one, it’s a functional limitation, and it lasts now for month…
I guess Mania didn’t tame with any hunter yet any silithid…
Easy, Peter. I am sure Mania know’s about it, but it’s been reported before. Probably many times. Not much more we can do beyond that.
Yer Been missing your posting, and impressive to see yet another Supernatural Fan, Season 4 Finale was amazing!. Looking forward to hearing about all the new hunter changes in the future: > Me and my lovely green dino, ghost puppy, and spirit kitty!
Lol welcome to 6 straight days of rain where i live, and grats on all that. My Bm/mm hunter has the argent hippogryph and 4 of the old argent tours mounts ( only have tb left to buy, im also a 5 way champion ). then working on the main ones, i aint into the mini pets much and on my server, the ally ones are 3k to 5k a piece in ah.
Grats on the mounts and pets Mania! I’m getting so close to the fawn myself, only one left, but I haven’t started the AT yet so that’s a plus. I will have to do it for the mounts too since I started to grind my way to the 100 mounts achivement. The best part is that I’m only missing the Red Qiraji Battle Tank! I’ll post on the forums about this in a few. =P
