Patch 3.1.2 graduated from the Public Test Realms to the live realms this morning. You can find the full patch notes on the World of Warcraft site, as always.
The big news is the triumphant return of the Equipment Manager and the changes to the Argent Tournament mounts that introduces ten new mounts. Hunters only have a handful of changes:
- Hunters
- Disengage: Cooldown reduced by 5 seconds.
- Items
- Most scopes now have a level requirement and will bind the item to which they are applied.
- Bug Fixes
- Go For The Throat: Explosive Shot critical strikes now trigger this talent.
- Lock and Load: The tooltip has been corrected to display its actual chance to occur.
- Rabid: This Hunter pet talent no longer lists a percentage chance to be triggered, as that chance varies by the attack speed of the pet.

And guess what I found in my mailbox when I logged in! A letter from the WoW Dev Team containing Murkimus’ Little Spear. I can now summon my own little armored Murloc! (This is the result of way too many hours on the Arena Tournament Realm. I’ll post a pic — and more effusive thanks to the many people who helped me get him — soon.)
Hey Mania. I’m glad at least one reputable blogger is keeping track of the Patch notes but I was wondering. Could we do a Name that Pet post on my Devilsaur? I caught a Tyrantus not too long ago and I haven’t named him yet. I’ll email you a pic in the next couple of days. See ya!
Also, I have a question, too, Mania.
I reported a bug (live patch 3.11) I discovered in the last days… I tried to tame a silithid in thousand needles (a rare Lvl 36 one) and I recognized I can’t learn dash (spent points to dash, can’t click on it). So I decided to release the one and go into Un’Goro crater to tame (in the south) a yellow one but Lvl 52. This silithid had already ‘dash’ but I can’t learn or improve that ability again.
I guess this is a serious bug, but nobody wants to tame a silithid so nobody recognized that error ? I am confused…
You would be correct Peter.
I reported the bug long before patch 3.1 was even out. It was fixed for a while until the same bug in a different form popped up again. Before the point was spent and you would see it, but now it’s spend and doesn’t log with the UI, yet, you have a point missing from dash even though you have it in the pet’s spellbook.
After a few Google searches, I found this:

and

but here I didn’t read anything about it :-(
:D! I look forward to your screencaps, and may send along some of my own with Murkimus by my side.
SUCH A CUTIE. <33
Another news which could not be read here:
http://blue.mmo-champion.com/28/17223144541-improving-hunter-dps-through-ranged-weapons.html
Some high end distance weapons for hunters will be buffed.
But that means also lower item weapons will not be improved and so unluckily most of the hunters will not gain any ‘plus’ from that.
Lower item weapons weren’t scaling as poorly, though, so hunters with weapons in that range won’t really notice a difference. The scaling issue hit higher up.
I am just happy for some news, it’s been quiet lately.
Agreed. Things have been notably quiet on the wow front. Oh well, good to hear some things are changing, even if they only affect raiders.
Personally I enjoy playing the game from all aspects, so my many alts keep me away from that content. Guess Drake mounted XBow will keep throwing my arrows around the same way for awhile.
still nothing to undo the nerfs to bm. Really surprised hunters didn’t get another nurf, that all they seem to do now days.
Oh well i can still hope they return hunters somewhere close to the top ten… eventually.
Shh about the silithid, its a free dash, and it makes it great for pvp :P
Sari,
The silithid dash-glitch is not “free”; (at least last time I checked) the point was docked from my pet’s total, however it A) doesn’t count toward your tier 2 talents and B) it also prevents you from taking mobility.
There is nothing good about this glitch.
While it has been acknolwedged by Blizz I’m not sure if they understand that it is more than just a “display issue”… and I suspect part of the reason players aren’t pushing this harder is because they think they are getting a “freebie”.
Another thing that may be complicating matters is that not every silithid is affected by this – my orc’s tamed back in february still shows normally (although I don’t dare respec him), while every new one I’ve tried taming with my nelf from like mid april forward has the glitch (including lapress, fyi).
