The much bigger task — the one that isn’t on this list — is figuring out what to do with my full stable. Which pets I should keep, which I should switch out … and how to spec everyone. And that’s what I’ll be contemplating for the rest of the the week, most likely.

My list is more simple tbh. Get on Amarai- respecc to Beastmaster. Look for Nuramoc.
Then log out and retalent like 20 other characters.

Wow, the drop rate on the Sprite Darter Egg sounds good! I’m so excited to finally be able to get my hands on one for my horde toon.
On my to-do list: Tame Aotona! The first time I saw her in Sholazar, I was like, “Whoa. WANT!”.
Can’t wait to try for a Sprite Darter. Always thought they’ve been one of the prettiest pets and my tauren hunter is my pet collector so she needs it. Better go pick up the Westfall chicken while I’m at it (I never got round to getting it the old way).
Stacking and then buying a bag are first on my list! I too will keep my quiver for sentimental value. :D

Onitenshi: It’s been confirmed for about what a week? That they did- and they removed Arikara’s summon poof.

Mania, a bit OT but a serious question: Due to the forced respec for Patch 3.1, I decided to go away from beastmaster (because BM is now almost nothing worth).
I already tamed 2 exotic beasts but I left them in my stable so far.
Now I decided also to release an exotic pet.
Why in hell is that NOT possible until I respec’d again to BM ?
Just getting rid of a pet needs an expensive respec (at least 2 if want to go back to survival) ??? Blizzard made me mad.

There’s no reason you should have to change from BM. Honestly, BM is in BETTER shape than it was in 3.0.9, so if you were BM in 3.0.9 happily, then you should at least try it in 3.1 because it is in a much better state.
In Best in Slot gear (for each respective spec) the numbers from EJ show SV doing about 600 DPS more than BM.
But in my latest runs since the patch I have beaten every SV Hunter I’ve ran with and they outgeared me. >=)
Peter: *nod* Blizzard has said that they didn’t intend you to have to respec just to abandon a pet, but they haven’t had time to fix it yet. So until they do — whenever that may be — we either pay the cash or post a big sticky note on the minotor that says “Abandon exotics before respec!”
tamed Gondria last night, after 30 mins of looking ,died 7 times he spawn in tight pack of bears and leopards.

That was the case with with me last night and throughout much of 3.0.9. Although, if there is a good SV Hunter in the raid with me I usually get smoked in DPS. Most of the good SV Hunters don’t seem to PuG though. I think the ones that really know how to play the spec are in actively raiding guilds.
I’ll probably go SV for my raid spec, but I’ll definitely still raid as BM on occasion and probably enjoy the same results as before.
I finally got beaten by an SV hunter this morning. but uhh he’s my guild class leader and one of the best Hunters I know (not cause he’s my guild but he has done like, literally everything PvP and PvE).
I *might* try dual speccing my Hunter BM/SV, but with gems that’ll be a pain.
I am dual specced BM/SV at the moment and am really looking forward to raiding as BM (honestly, I never got BIS before 3.1, and I doubt all three hunters in my guild will get BIS for a WHILE..we only have one SV hunter if I’m going BM). But like you rikaku, gems will be an issue. I’m trying to figure out what to do, and part of me is hoping that AP gems wont suck with SV so much or that AGI wont suck with BM. Tell me what your plan is! BM=<3
And my hunt for Aotona begins… Making laps round River’s heart mostly on the hour, every half hour, and sometiems on the ’44s.
I suspect most of the information on forums and wowsites will be far more in-depth for the cats, and I’ve been looking at that. Knowing about Aotona’s spawn point already, is there any other information specific to Aotona’s spawn rate that may be useful?
(I’m really missing my old wasp, qq, etc etc…)

Ok so I spoke to my Guild Class leader (aka Hunter Guru) he said that honestly you can keep your BM gems and still run SV. He said he does it many times and only saw a 15 dps difference; very minimal. He said his crit rate with his pet is lower with the lower AGI, but overall dps wasn’t effected much.

Eee, no one complained at me/about me, and I did even better than I was doing.
Ofc I had to give up pet survivability on Jupiter. And Jareth. And Abyss [and I don't think Wild Hunt is working correctly at lower levels], but I just gotta get better gear again :)
tho sadly with Ulduar out and me not in a raiding guild, doubt it’s going to be an easy task with everyone raiding ulduar now.
Afaik, my druid was the first on Boulderfist to get the Sprite Darter Hatchling. People in trade didn’t believe I had it ’til they came to Org and saw it. Apparently Boulderfist isn’t too observant to patch notes as they thought it was an alliance only pet.
The rest of the list is still in progress for me :P

Have done it. Unfortunately there was no “Warning” before to stay with BM if you want just to release a pet.
I have seen my attack power is better with BM than with Survival… may be I have done something wrong ? Have to check this…

Having a higher AP in BM is no surprise.BM is typically more focused on AP then the other specs because AP translates to pet much better than AGI does. SV’s have a talent where it’s based on AGI and Stamina. However, when it comes down to gemming, gemming for AP or AGI will not have a huge effect on your overall dps as SV or BM (so you *can* Dual spec those without re-gemming).
Woohoo! Makes me happy :D SV is in a bad place right now, less fun than it was before. I am happy I can be BM!
That’s a good addition, tijax! I didn’t even think about add-ons. :> Of course, the very minor number of add-ons that I’m using are still working fine, once I told them to go ahead and load, but that’s probably not the case for a lot of hunters.
Heh, I’m still working on my to-do list.
1. Manage to log in. (check!)
2. Swap quiver for a frostweave bag and rearrange bag slots. (check!)
3. Play with new options. (check!)
4. Buy Call Stabled Pet. (check!)
5. Respec self and my pets. (check!)
6. Update addons. (just got done, check!)
7. Jump in some water on my war bear and swim around giggling like an idiot for a few minutes. (have not done yet for some reason!)
8. Check out the Argent Tournament, and eventually got the war ram mount. (taken a look, but my internet died last night before I could finish the inital quest chain – curses!)
9. Level my new wolfy, Coran, to 80. (in progress)
10. Play around in that new raid I’ve been hearing so much about, forget what it’s called. (check – and I’d reccomend everyone at least going up to the first boss, even if you don’t like raiding… it’s super fun, and right now pugs are easy to find!)
11. Eventually save up a ton of money and get epic flying, an armored snowy gryphon, and dual-specs. (yeah, that’ll happen)

YAY Tamed Gondria, Bonechewer server finally up at 6:20pm PST and tamed him at 8:50pm at 62.3 Zul’Drak. Made a Marco /target Gondria and flew to the spawn points. There were a couple Horde hunters on the prowl looking for him at the same tie but wasn’t nearby when I targeted him. I also have Loque’nahak which took alot longer to find. Gondria is nice matches my Spectral Tiger Mount, would be nice to have your pet run along side of your mount like the gold old days…..
Logged in and promptly discovered that my Gezzarak no longer explodes when she summons. =(

2. Farm rugged leather to get money for dual spec (I’m dual-speccing BM/MM, I think, though Wyvern Sting is purdy…)

4. Be really mad because Akira no longer poofs…I made a Horde hunter just to get her! (I’m a night elf)

7. Have a party-no more everyone being mad at me for not having a gorrila!

Have they shrunk the max size for the Devilsaur Monstrous Bite stack? It just seems to me that Grimlock isn’t getting quite as big as he used to, which is making me a little sad.

Gel I’ve gotta kinda confirm it. I noticed Jareth wasn’t growing as big as he should during a [failed due to the tank 'dcing' on us :/] CoT run. And he only seems to get bigger with TBW.

As I don’t know if it’s THAT or if they screwed up Growl. As for some reason Aurelius, WITHOUT Cower on, WITH Growl on and with doing 5k dmg to one of those underking nerubians in icecrown [saw saronite ore :c need money] and yet in two autos and an SS I had 50% threat, then 80% and then all a sudden blamo. I aggroed it.
Then watched everything go still for 30 seconds with just screeches of the undead bug and Aurelius.
O_o and for some reason it feels like my warlock ‘lost’ one of his spells … ah well

Warlocks lost recklessness and siphon life, if you took that. Now siphon life occurs as part of corruption, which isn’t as exciting to me, but oh well.
No wasn’t that, it was one of his damaging spells, I was certain he had four .. maybe it was haunt- think it was most likely haunt.
I never really used that curse anyways o.o
AND ITS NOT IMPORTANT. And it took untill now, but I just finally got Nuramoc on Amarai :D the first thing on my list became the last hehe.
I was actually swearing out the damn warpstalkers before my target macro got’im, and then I started cursing the warpstalkers again because every time I quickly tried to sit down and eat and recover another jumped me.

I giggled when the tame completed and he shrunk while still hovering over in the air- before dropping like a rock to the ground and reluctantly hovered over to me.

It’s not really a wonder you wouldn’t have noticed. You were still being healed by it, probably for about the same, but it wasn’t doing it’s damage.

It was at one of the already discovered spawn points, specifically the one by the Mammoth oozes.
He does appear yellow on the map with track beasts.
another spawn point for gondria discovered at 5.44 server time eu server. 77.70, amongst the bears and leopards cruisin there. thought i make a try to find the new beast since i got lohk all ready and i alwaysed enjoy hunting those rare ones down before to many cords about spots come up.. call it exploration hunter style =P hope that helps someone looking for it. good luck happy hunting!

I couldn’t get one on my orc Rosalyn [managed on Ryai, Ama and my pally :c] and she killed about 50- then I decided screw it, and skinned all the corpses.
Got like 220 leather of thick and heavy.
What I mean is yeah the droprate is ‘bad’ but considering that if you’re a skinner, you get leather out of it and items to vendor, [Rosa also got two gems and an eng schematic for the parachute cloak O.o], and trust me, it is less aaaaurgle than the alliance quest.
Has you GO EVERYWHERE.
and mean bad as in so hairbrained, Amarai got the drop in like 5 kills, yet Rosa couldn’t get it in 50+
At least it’s not as bad as the other whelplings… It sounds doable once it dies down over there…
And it seems it’s gonna take a while before I get to that anyway. First night hunting Aotona was a failure. I’m ashaimed to admit it, but I made laps round River’s Heart like a freaking spiralgraph, constantly, with a target macro (for Aotona, as well as Bird of Prey,) to each spawn point, over and over and over s’more, all night. Not a single target, corpse, or other hunter tame. no one saw a single one.
Would anyone know if spawn timers are reset on server crashes and restarts. Lightbringer had a server restart last evening. Now I know the mobs won’t spawn upon a restart, but does their multi-hour long respawn timer reset itself after a restart?
Saranette: Were you spamming macros targeting the other mobs of the basin? Krush and Loque? As the spawns are random and shared, so it’s possible Aotona hadn’t spawned yet, if at all.
Things I’ve noticed: Gimpasaurus Rex is no longer gimpy (King Mosh didn’t ALWAYS run before, sometimes he shufflewalked, but now he seems to run fine all the time), my plaguehound no longer shuffles either (yay!) and…
I rode out and double-double-triple checked the sholazar wasps, and they all have the same model (silithid) as they always have. The weird mapping over the old-world wasp model must have been some peculiar localized glitch because all the wasps here in the basin look normal.
Erm…somewhat off-topic, but as I was playing a bit ago, I fell in the water with my kitty mount. As I crawled out of the water, I blink, and see my spiky hellfire wolf Iorek is by my side.
While I was mounted.
Did Blizzard pull a sneaky one on us and made it so our pets ran by our side, or was it the game still thinking pets come in water, cause I “dismounted”.

Here’s another pet fix: I noticed my hydralisk was silent! A very welcome change!

So this morning, I decided to try and contact some friendly looking hunters on the opposite side to relay some information on rare spawns and when they were killed/tamed in the Basin. It just started, but it’s already had it’s own small successes and trollings. I thought about starting a thread on the wow realm forums about it, but lightbringer has a kinda nasty troll population that’s been embedded for some time since it’s a pretty old server. I’d like to know, do you guys think I should start a new thread for aotona/krush/loq information on these forums, or just add info to a particular existing thread on the matters of hunting for the rare spawns?
It’s mainly meant to help out all hunters on cross sides, and to hopefully not get them to grief either side…

I don’t think the Sunreaver hawks are tameable by Horde anymore :/
I’m not sure if it’s only because Ryai’s done some of the turny quests or not. But I can no longer go ‘At War’ with them.
Ryai: Ack — you’re right! That probably puts them in the same boat as the Silvermoon dragonhawks — only tameable by alliance.
Would some kind Alliance hunter like to check that out for us?

I have respec’d yesterday (to get rid of my exotic pets, see entries above).
Have spent 51 points for beastmaster, NOW after one day Patch 3.10, I got only 33 points. And for marksmanship I spent 13 points, which I still have.
So in total I got 46 talent points for a level 80 char.
That’s really ridiculous, never ever had such an error.
I guess I bave to spent once again gold to respec (but I am not responsible for that!) – already opened a ticket, but after 2 hours I gave up.
Peter, you may want to wait until they get the problems straightened out — they may even give you another free respec at that point. On the other hand, you’ll be waiting instead of playing, so … not great choices, I suppose.
Definitely be waiting ’round. Kinda humorous, I’ve had an open “report an issue” ticket sitting on my main for over a day and a half now. I’m sure there’ve been worse, but it’s a new record for me!
I was having talent point issues also, a few were missing, they eventually showed back up though. Sounds like a few people are having this problem. Instances are constantly going down on my server too, we tried running nax last night and patchwork was just standing there evading. Anyone else having this problem? I have not been able to run a single instance since the patch…

Well just saw some sore person razzing dual speccing [not cause of the price]. Razzing it cause oh it’s ruining the game because now hybrid classes can tank- or dps, if they have the gear!
I’ve been in dozens of failed runs BECAUSE of the lack of tanks and or healers on my server, it’s why I originally rolled a paladin. And why I respecced from ret to prot.
And now he whispered me claiming oh it’s only a reward for hard core raiders!
Sigh some people.
I do appreciate most of the changes this time around, but one im not jazzed about, but hasnt yet been fully understood is the making of bosses immune to taunts from pets. I haven’t completely confirmed this yet, but it seems to be the case, and its the first big nerf to pet tanking weve seen, so kinda sad there.
Also, ill be keeping my quiver equipped. How else is it going to show up on my back? A little spring cleaning cleared up enough bag space to make room for my pet tanking set, so im good.
Meanwhile I got an answer with a predefined text. They told me I have to rename my Interface and WTF folder. As I already stated, Wow armory shows on their web page the same stats, so it is definitely not dependant from my PC.
I am really and seriously disappointed about Blizzard.

My only ‘hatred’ for it, is the cost, and ofc allowing it to be open so early [lv 60 would have made even more sense] but whatever.
So first the guy claimed, it ruined it for real healers and tanks cause people with no skill would be healing/tanking! No wait this was after he was ‘disgusted’ that people actually would level as dps.
Then he went on to say that it only rewarded hard core raiders- and that it shunted pvpers into the corner. I ofc pointed out it doesn’t. You could have PVE and PVP specc, like for warriors, you can’t really pvp well as tanks most of the time can you?
Then he tried to be all ‘it ruins the character building yada yada’! I ofc pointed out Hellscream is not an rp server anyways :/
Then there was ‘omg you have to choose to retalent at a trainer!’ when I pointed it out it’s basically the same. Then you know I went and said how is this any different than doing that? Once compared to constantly? And evidently the responce was ‘YOU CHOOSE!!’ and just.
I can somewhat admit that if you leveled as a tank it’s not unreasonable to be fearful some idiot who doesn;’t know how will buy this, think up a tank specc, and yada yada- but the thing is, as I repeatedly said, Skill > Gear, and what about the ones who know how to do it all in hybrid classes? Especially Paladins and Droods? And this benifits guilds, hardcore or not.
:/ I mean I was only blah over it over the price, but I’m getting it for my drood when he’s high enough and I have the money for it. I wanna be Feral tank/dps and dps caster Chicken.
Ihlos: I’m hoping possibly that it only affects ‘Taunt’ and not Growl. But if it does affect growl, you are partly right. But if worst comes to worst, I can flip growl off, turn bite on, on Erebus, and just keep spamming misdirection on him.

Aotona again today. No dice, though I did make some contacts to relay information between so not all was lost.
Gonna try the morning hours server time instead of evening hours. I suspect I may have a better chance then. Course watch me get a mail that she was found while I was sleeping.
I’m also trying to figure out if server crashes or region crashes (Northrend) effect the respawn rates. I know rare spawns won’t respawn on a server reset/crash, but I’m wondering if their timer gets altered/reset each time a crash happens…

It’s a cute little non-combat pet that used to be Alliance-only. Here’s the info on Warcraft Pets.
I think the game NEEDS more faction only pets, and not less to be honest. Give people some incentive aside from racials to play something different. Heck, I’ll go so far as to say race only non-combat pets as well.
Course they won’t do it, because then OH at the whining!

Hey guys, noob question because I’m one (hehe!)
I removed my Quiver and it still requires Arrows to fire a shot-sting etc.
What am I doing wrong? :(

Maria: At this point we still need to use arrows (or bullets, as the case may be). But we no longer need to store the stacks in a quiver in order to get the speed benefits we did before. And since ammo stacks to 1000 now, many hunters are just keeping a stack or two (or 10) in their normal bags and skipping the quiver.

Quick Newb question: if you dual spec BM and SV or MM can you still have epic pets (Gondria)?
