In Which I Participate
Normally I don’t respond to being tagged with internet memes. There’s just too many to keep up with. But Guntitan has a valid complaint that I’ve done very little substantive posting since the beginning of the year. And he’s giving me an opportunity to correct that.
I should clarify before I start that I’m answering these questions based on the character Mania. (Although as it happens she and I are the same age. I know my own birthday, though.)
Q1. What is your name, and where did it come from?
The name Mania was tossed up by the random name generator when I was looking for inspiration for my first hunter. I was amused that a recognizable word could pop up that way so I went with it. For a while I was concerned that the name wasn’t RP enough, so I pronounced it ‘Mah-nigh-ah’, to rhyme with Mariah, but eventually I realized that if I can’t get Blizzard to change truly obscene names on an RP realm, I’m probably fine as Mania.
In-game, the name was bestowed on me by a mother who was proud of the orc racial heritage. In either case, the name was oddly prescient.
Q2. How old are you, and what is your birthday?
I have no idea about my birthday, and honestly I don’t much care. I count my years from the Lunar Festival each year. (Well, now that the Horde tends to celebrate it I do. Before I just counted from the spring.) I am 35 years old and rapidly approaching middle age.
Q3. Are you in love, and with whom?
The only love in my life is my stable of pets. And really, every pet I run across in my travels. Including mini-pets. And mounts, too. I don’t relate so well to people.
Yes … I am a crazy cat lady.
Q4. What is your favorite mount, and why?
My favorite mount is Deathcharger, but lacking that (and I do) any of the skeletal warhorses will do. I love the way their hooves sparkle when they run.
Having said that, though, my first epic mount was a Great White Kodo, and I was extremely happy with that mount for a very long time. Kodos have a smooth ride and are so solid you can’t possibly fall off. Plus I really liked the white hide with red drums.
You might notice that I don’t name any flying mounts. I do have an Albino Drake, and it’s quite nice, but not nearly as cool as a good skeletal warhorse.
Q5. Do you prefer a certian type of Azerothonian meal, and where do you get it from?
When I have the time, I generally swing by Dalaran for cold cuts and cheeses. I’m also partial to the weird drinks that the ethereals sell in Stormspire.
Q6. You know those giant mushrooms in Zangarmarsh? What is your theory on how they came to be, and why they are so huge?
Err … I never really thought about it. I just supposed that there were a natural outgrowth of the swampy vigor that exemplifies Zangarmarsh. I do like to picnic on top of them, though. Cold cuts and cheese, a sparkly alcoholic drink, and a certain Twilight Runner for company … Ah, heaven!
Q7. If you saw the Lich King walking towards you, what would you do?
If he hadn’t seen me yet, hide. If he had seen me already, smile and wave. And if he’d seen me and he looked pissed … yeah, Feign Death is worth a try.

Feigning Death is always my first course of action when I see a baddie way too big for me…right in front of me. If it doesn’t work, I’m toast anyway, right?

Anyhew I don’t see why everyone likes Zangarmarsh? Nagrand is nicer and far more lore involved. Plus, my favorite reason, the main group of reputation is gained largely by mass slaughter.

CE rep is largely slaughtering crap too[if you can't do the dailies]- and Sporagger rep. I spent atleast 3 days in Zanga at one point just constantly farming those bog lords for herbs, greens/blues, and rep untill they stopped giving rep.
Then it was onto naga slaughter!

My brain knows how to pronounce Mania, but whenever I think of your name I say it as Mah-nee-ah. I don’t know why but I always have and probably always will. I guess that’s close to how you wanted it to sound like, right?
Who needs death charger if you have pumpkin guy’s mount :D!!! Its like the same thing, but with green glowy feet ^^
Punkin guy mount looks nothing like the death charger. You are thinking of the mount from the Kara boss Attumen the Huntsman who drops .

I can’t speak for everyone else, but I always liked that Zangarmarsh was the one zone that reminded you that you were in another world. Just about everything about it, the fauna included, is otherworldly and surreal, and it had a great feel to it, because of it.
I theorize that it might be the whole mushroom case for some folks, though.
I hate Deathcharger… I really do. 833 runs pre-patch and 33 post patch and I still have no Deathcharger *sigh*
I may have to try one of these for myself, they’re really cute & fun!
And one must always try to feign death. My mage friend and I were fighting C’thun last night. Mage was getting killed by lasers and I told him to Feign Death…. *sigh* what good is all the powers of the universe if you can’t feign death? ;)
Arthas? Danger? Feign Death? Ha! I laugh in the face of danger! Why live when you can send the warp stalker in, screenshot how puny it is next to whatever baddie is threatening you, shoot a few explosive shots, marvel over how small the hunter’s mark arrow is, then jump/run/fall/get squashed? In a world where the only bad thing about death in the cost in damage repairs, why not die just to have fun? XD

Very nice RP encounter, Mania. I didn’t know how far you’d fleshed the character out, but that was pretty good.
And for anyone wondering, that was Mania talking about her TROLL Mania, not about our dear Mania who runs and mantains this blog. That was why no mention of her husband or anything. Last I checked he didn’t really play WoW.
I haven’t been reading the headline’s for long but I use petopia all the time, & i don’t know much about Mani, like what race i Mania (I’m guessing Orc, female?) & what pets do you have? O_O

From the moment I saw Zangarmarsh, I swore that the one thing I HAD TO DO in my WoW career was get on top of one and /dance. Then I learned about flying mounts! I have the screenies somewhere, me and my precious bat Thrombus on a giant mushroom! XD
