A new Spirit Beast has been found on the 3.1 Public Test Realms.
His name is Gondria: he is a Spirit Beast in family, he is Exotic and uses the Ferocity tree, he is a rare elite, he knows Spirit Strike, he looks a bit like a cat — and he doesn’t look anything like Loque’nahak.
And no, I didn’t find him. :> BRK posted about Gondria early this morning (and gave me a head’s up around the same time), but I was deep asleep. It looks like Gondria was found by Wowhead user flatty and first reported there. You can check out all the info yourself on the Wowhead forum thread — including a map of the only spawn point we know so far.
(My thanks also to all the readers who e-mailed me to make certain I’d heard about this new find!)

Witrely:
I don’t think they made Loq anyless unique. Gondria and Loque may be the same family, but they look extremely different. I would feel cheated if they made Gondria look just like Loque, but as it stands I don’t think anyone’s cheated.
Pepsi:
Tbh, I think people would be happier if they did add a Spirit Spore-beast (I know I wouldn’t, I don’t like spore bats, but I digress) or spirit-bat XD
Personally I do not find at all that the model uses the frost saber. I know for a fact there are a LOT of people that do want the spirit beast, but hate the ‘cheetah’ like model Loque uses, that and it’s over all skin. Our guild leader and several other hunters that I know thing Loque looks ugly and or the model looks horrid and is a turn off to them wanting to tame it.
Having a more widly used model also count to the spirit beast will give people who hated how Loque looked a version that they may like.
This also could open up to Blizz briging us even more spirit beasts, perhaps one of each cat model?
WorldofWar.de now have a taming video of Gondria plus screenshots up. Enjoy! :)
Clicky! –> http://wow.gamona.de/2009/03/12/gondria-die-zaehmung-der-neuen-geisterbestie-erstmals-auf-video/
Kai: Er Loque isn’t a Cheetah, it’s a Leopard- yes a distorted leopard but if you look at all the godly animals, they ususally aren’t the same build of normal animals. I mean King Dred is supposed to be a ‘Raptor God’- and it’s a frelling T-Rex.
I don’t hear people complaining about that- and so what if you don’t like the model, then don’t use it. I don’t like alot of models so I either abandon them, or say I don’t like them and don’t use them, I mean no one is forcing you, to use a Spirit Beast- and with the changes to the animals and everything being equal, Blizz probably took away the +10% dmg Exotics can dish out.
Then there’s the fact that BM can nearly make any ferocity pet a force to be reckoned with; Exotic or not.
And to be honest… this really is not a solution- I am NOT saying it should have been the same model as Loque. But this is NOT a Spirit Beast imo, and it is NOT a Spectral Tiger equal. And even if it was a Spectral Tiger equal, I still wouldn’t really willingly dub it a spirit beast- it is just a ghostly Wintersaber.
That got very lost.
This would be an alright normal cat model- it, the white and the blue. But as a Spirit Beast? I’m sorry, it’s not that special. I mean if glowing lazer eyes and ghostly bodies make a beast a spirit beast, then by rights, Hydralisks, Ghostdiles, Ghost Wolves and Ghost Sabers should be Spirit Beasts.
I’m not mad at the fact they are making more Spirit Cats. I am mad at the fact how tacky, lame, and lazy they are going about it.
I mean look at Blackmaw; http://petopia.brashendeavors.net/html/mobs/mob_blackmaw.html
I would consider something like THAT a Spirit Beast- and wouldn’t you rather tame that then a Ghost Saber on steroids, for an exotic?
Make the ghostly cats, cats, so everyone can tame it if they want, and give us some real looking exotic creatures, please. Then everyone is happy.
Arg why was my post slaughtered by moderation? /sigh
/rant
Anyways as I basically said if you don’t like Loque don’t use him, this doesn’t count as a spirit beast imo because if making a cat half invisable with lazer eyes counts as Spirit Beast, then there’s 4/5 existing, retired or not, pets that would count as that.
Damn moderation. Am I really that much of a bad poster here? D:
Ryai:
You’re not a bad poster, we love you here! =D
Honestly, I agree. Looking at this beast, aside from the whole “cat spirit beast” debate, I’m trying to figure out why it’s here. I thought the ghost wolf was removed because it didn’t fit in with the “hunter class”. Yet the Ghost saber remained, and now they added another spectral/ghost beast but clearly meant for it to be tamed. (Not that I mind Gondria being what she is, I’m just thinking logically here.) If this is the case, I want to see the ghost wolves back, just slap on the name “Spectral Wolf” or something.
But this is assuming Blizz is logical, which they haven’t been for a very long time.
Well IMO people are not thinking too logically*. SPIRIT beast. A spirit of a beast. This is what i have imagined when i first heard the name of the family, and when i saw Loque, i was kinda disappointed. I think this is what a real spirit beast it.
Loque’nahak is not, to me, a spirit beast. I can’t figure out a good name for a family that would fit Loque to me, but it wouldn’t be spirit beast.
I think this is what should a Spirit beast be like, and Ghost Wolves could be added in too.
* Back then when Spirit Beasts have not been seen yet, i am pretty sure this is what people imagined them like. I highly doubt anybody would imagine a marble-like cat with glowing teeth, which has absolutely nothing “spiritish” in it.
But that’s just my opinion.
Honestly, I’m dissapointed in the new model- it looks like it’s in perpetual Prowl mode. The reason I loved Loque so much was his highly polished design. This cat just doesn’t do it for me. Less laziness, please, Blizz! We want to see NEW models in the NEW xpac and patch, not tweaks of what we’ve seen many times before!!
I think I’m also another one of the hunters who had been hoping to see a Spirit Beast representative of all non-exotic families.
Pepsi-The problem that people have with the new ‘spirit beast’ is that it’s still a cat, no matter how much they dress it up. Some of us are just tired of seeing nothing but cats every time we turn around. (I’m being hypocritical since I have both a cat and Loque, the cat is for min/maxing and the Loq is because it was actually a challenge) Is it so wrong to want something different or are you happy with everyone having the exact same thing?
Well it seems lots of people disliked the new Spirit Beast, I do not hate it just makes me feel quite annoyed that Blizz just followed the easy way to add a new Spirit Beast. But it is not the end of the world, maybe blizz will add more pets and not precisely Spirit Beast. I would like to see new and fresh tameable pets like a mammoth for example they have everything to be a new Tenacity pet or even penquins!!! Just think about it XD!!!
On the contrary, Rikaku, as already stated, a Spirit Bat, a Ferocity Bat with a unique skin, would make my week. It’s been a shame I’ve had to shelve the pet I’ve been using for years thanks to it getting stuffed in the red headed step child talent tree along with a lousy ability for good measure: think of how many hunters would be happy if that could finally pick any pet model with a great set of abilities and arguably the best talent tree of the lot.
Hell, they don’t even have to put much work into it. Set up in various zones a transparent version of several pet families every few content patches, a pretty skin is optional. If you can’t tell from the dozens of posts stating as such, it would make alot of people happy.
Oh. I misread your post. Yeah. A Spirit Sporebat would be pretty awesome, too.
While I think it would be really awesome to have more Spirit Creature Variety (I mean they already have the model for the spirit wolf, they’d just have to put it BACK in game – luckily I got mine already…).
Also this is only the 2nd Spirit Beast they’ve added – perhaps in the future we’ll start seeing non-cat Spirit Beasts.
I personally am just glad to have a ghosty purple cat. It looks like the model similar to the ghosty cats we’re ALL wondering about in Uldar – at least now the one I would have tamed is outside Uldar :).
I mean I’m not into cats but..purple..yea…gotta have Purple!
Volcan:
I can see your definition of Spirit Beast, and I think, honestly, that’s basically what this whole SB debacle comes down too. What *is* the definition of a Spirit Beast?
But personally, I find Loque spirit-based enough without being Ethereal. I mean, his head looks almost hollow (that blue glow pouring out of his eyes and mouth also has some bright blue spots on his head). So Loque does in fact look Spirit ish to me.
The only thing I dont like about ethereal or spectral beasts is, well, their blockiness. The old world models (which this new spirit beast has) is rather blocky, and by being so transparent, it really stands out. Mind you I am OCD, so little things like that bother me (but that’s the main reason I’m glad spirit beasts aren’t all spectral and ethereal). But I still think Gondria is gorgeous.
I think it’d be cool to see some other spirit animals, but like I have stated, I’m not gonna hold my breath for non-feline SB models.
Either way, I’m glad theres more Spirit Beasts for people who don’t like Loque. Personally I love my Loque and I wouldn’t trade him for any other pet here or previous.
*Waves to Ryai*
First off, lemme start by saying that spirit beasts, by all appearances, were animal’s that were stronger then your average beastie. The spirit beast’s of Zul’Drak are all considered gods to the trolls, for example. Loque and Gondria here both exhibit characteristics that place them above ‘normal’. Does that mean that there could possibly be other spirit beasts? Yes. Do I think that there WILL be non-cat spirit beasts? A fervent heck no. This is BLIZZARD. BLIZZARD. If you’ve just joined the WoW party, lemme fill you in. Blizzard will almost alway’s take the minimalist approach to any problem. If it isn’t a huge or major deal, don’t expect it to change any time soon. In fact, it’s only recently that a large number of the hunter problems have been addressed. I am sorry, but if you think Blizzard is going to make a spirit rhino or a spirit dragonhawk, you have another, unpleasant thing coming.
And spirit wolves weren’t removed because they didn’t fit in with hunter lore. That was the story, but my theory at the time, and still today, was because it caused coding issue’s with the shamans summoned wolves. Those wolves are the same model as the spirit wolves, but garner a different amount of stats from the shaman, as well as healing the shaman for damage dealt. If I had to wager, I’d say it was causing some problems in the system to try and have the same PC controlled model do different things. But of course Blizzard would never tell us that. Could you have imagined the outcry of “WTF?!”‘s had they of?
Now I wish they would make a Spirit Raptor, using the old style skin as I hate the BC raptor skin. Or a white raptor with skin color like the white cobras. Oh well. Nice to see another Spirit Beast finally. i got very lucky and tamed Loq, but would drop it in a heartbeat for a spirit raptor.
I just wish that they would make BM a worthwhile spec again. I’ve been running tests with Loque on the PTR and basically, except for soloing elite mobs, it’s a lousy DPS spec. It sucks for raiding and it simultaneously sucks and blows for PvP. After all is said and done, we’re still left with one viable spec… Survival.
So even though I’ve tamed Loque, I’ll never get to use him. Sure we can have dual specs, but what is BM for, sitting around Dalaran showing off your spirit beast?
Early on the PTR there was apparently a mistake that gave hunter pets too much DPS. When I was playing, it felt like the old BM. I could actually win a fight against a Pally or Death Knight, or Rogue. I didn’t feel over powered, basically just right. I had the old enjoyment of being able to manage my pet and fight at the same time, the whole BM style of play was back. It was so fun. Then I find the very next day it was a “mistake.”
I should have known that winning a fight in PvP as a BM hunter would have to be a “mistake” as far as Blizzard was concerned.
So back to boring old repetitive OP Explosive shots. Boom boom boom. You’re dead. I’m so leet.
@ Bestiarius; yeah I was figuring the numbers people were throwing out for pets would get nerfed eventually.
And sad fact is, when I rolled Ryai SV on the PTR, blamo, I was out dpsing my 51/20/0 with a hodgepodge of 11/9/51 that I ‘borrowed’ mostly from an SV hunter there, and tested it out and even tho my shot rotation is shakey, thanks to explosive shot and black arrow [I skipped all pvp talents as for the most part I've stopped pvping on Ryai] and the sad, sad fact is, I was doing MORE damaged UNBUFFED than I do WHEN buffed as BM. And this was before I tamed a pet.
So .. I figured… I would.. have to finally give in.. BM will by my guild instance specc [for 'tanking' Strat, ZG, and for the Ravenlord mount] and Surv is gonna be my raiding specc.
I hate you blizzard, I hate you so much.
And yay I am loved.
@ Palla; I know they won’t, and I know they won’t make Hydra’s tameable. But I still hope, because there was still a glint of possibility that other animals could become tameable atleast.
And I’m not really downing Gondria that much- it’s just that the model for a spirit beast is .. tacky. I’m not saying that I wanted another Loque- this is more incase others misunderstand. I’m just saying that Blizzard could have worked on the model, made a new one, maybe make it look like a tiger on steroids that would melt your face with lazer eyes.
Cause I mean while yes it is nice there is another ‘riding cat skin model’, what does this mean for the White and Blue spectral models? Are they too, going to become spirit beasts? Untameable by MM and SV, even tho they look like normal cats for the most part [compare to ghost/spirit wolf/saber], I know I shouldn’t judge by appearences, but I mean look at cats- for the most part there are three models. Cheetah/leopard. Saber lion/tiger and Riding Tiger/lion models.
So just taking a Riding Tiger, making it transparent and putting it ingame as a spirit beast is a bit of a ripoff to people. If Loque is SB’s ‘Cheetah/Leopard’, then Gondria could be an equivalent of ‘Riding Tiger’ model, without being such a rip off and badly renderd model.
But mean if it was a normal cat well hell I might have tamed it on my lil lowbie hunter… well one of them.. if they ever got that high. But to waste a slot for an SB when I really only wanted it on Ryai? And go thru more grief and luck chances for it? No- I’ll let someone who truly desires and yearns for it, a chance to tame.
‘In fact, it’s only recently that a large number of the hunter problems have been addressed. I am sorry’
Along with the ones they’ve yet to fix or admit they caused Palla? :/ was in SM earlier, Aria was helping me level up one of my hunter alts pets via mass smashing humans for exp for my white n black lions. So while waiting for her to come back from an afk moment, I go to loot a corpse that ran into the fountain in Cath I think, and after a few seconds realise poor Chaos is pathing back and forth over the same spot, trying to follow me and failing.
And the GCD bug wwas still happening on the PTR- and I really do think it IS tied to some hunter abilities, sometimes when I shoot AS or SS off, my pet’s GCD will suddenly activate at the same damn time- when nothing but growl is being used. And sometimes when nothing is being used at all.
And the random pet talents turning off don’t seem to be fixed either, offensive abilities keep turning off, the prowl bug isn’t fixed, tho it’s still not as bad as live atm.
I forgot to check before a run in UP and realised Jupiter’s Claw and SS were off, along with Grow, Cower and everything else.
I /facepalmed majorly.
‘I’d say it was causing some problems in the system to try and have the same PC controlled model do different things.’
I don’t think that’s the problem really- mayble slightly.. but not fully, because it wouldn’t explain how the models of the existing spirit/ghost wolves can run around in WoW, and there are bugged pets as it is anyways. Some pets do just act funny and bug. Like the Devilsaur’s, King Mosh, King Dred, Tyrantus[the black 'saur] and King Krush are all proven to have nearly perfect running animations. It can’t be tied to the fact that their large size = ok running when small. Because if that was true when Cherry, my belf’s saur grows in size, it should run too. It’s the coding for the mob, intentional or not.
I think Blizz just lied to us saying it’s working as intended, then decided oh lets just take it out cause it’s to hard to obtain anyways who wants it already got it, lets’ ignore everyone else yada.
Tho what they did with Gezz took me by surprise- they fixed her, for pvp and pve, yet made her untameable. Even tho there IS an npc with her as a pet.
For the love of God bring the ghost wolf back!! We were tripping over ourselves trying to get one. Make him a rare elite spirit beast and bring him BACK!!!
I think it’s fantastic that there’s a second choice for the Spirit Beast family!
And I have no issues with the model they chose except one thing (which is also my issue with Loque-nahak): THE EYES. Seriously… is the person responsible for choosing them eight years old?
Too much ridiculous glowy nonsense, and strange psychedelic colours for no particular reason in this game.
I’ll stop now before I start swearing about Draenei tentacles growing out of their nipples. Le sigh.
*sigh*
Great, ANOTHER bloody cat. Cats cats cats cats and more cats. So many pet familys they could draw from to make something special and unique, but no, its another cat.
Not even as nice as Loque, either.
While I love my Loque, I’m not a fan of this new one. I have nothing against cats. I don’t really care if Blizzard decides that they’re going to put fifty new cat models in. I like cats, I love it when I can use Loque (which is pretty much never these days, /sigh I’ll miss you BM)… but this is lazy. At least put some blinkin’ effort into it, Blizzard. My only real hope lies in this model being just a placeholder.
…also, I want a Spirit Dragonhawk. My little Draenei used a Dragonhawk for most of the run from 1-70 (pre-3.0), and I still love the pet type. Sadly I don’t PvP and cunning is no good for much of anything else, so I’m a tad stuck.
I would note that I wouldn’t mind a Spirit Sporebat either. Originally I was going to make my ‘grouping pet’ a Sporebat, mostly just to make pickups go “WTF”, but sadly I had to nix the idea due to to stable size limitations, as well as me actually figuring out the new pet system…
…not that I actually have room for that many pets, nor can I afford to roll with that many exotics since it doesn’t look like they’re going to make BM raid-viable anytime soon.
Well, if anyone had read my posts about the spirit beasts in the past, I never had much liking towards them. Loque was at one point my least favorite pet in the game because everyone made such a big deal out of one cat whose face was blue. adding the new spirit beast was alright. never before had we seen a pet with both glowing eyes AND transperancy… but then again we have only seen one ooze, too (Which I proudly state that I have :D!!!) adding this new cat-look-alike will at least draw people away from Loque, now. this one at least looks alright but they used yet another cat model. it’s a big cat model, whereas loque is a medium cat model, but it is still a cat. All in all, though, not a bad update :)
Also… WHEN ARE THEY GOING TO MAKE ARMADILLOS FOR TENACITY AND PRAYING MANTISES FOR CUNNING?!?!?!?!?!?!?!?!?!? :P
thank you for your time :)
Ryai
And I’m not really downing Gondria that much- it’s just that the model for a spirit beast is .. tacky. I’m not saying that I wanted another Loque- this is more incase others misunderstand. I’m just saying that Blizzard could have worked on the model, made a new one, maybe make it look like a tiger on steroids that would melt your face with lazer eyes.
Exactly my point. didn’t notice this before, just was rereading through the posts. Ty for the better explaination then me, Ryai :)
i’m thinking about it more and more, and i bet if i find gondria, i’ll kill it. rare = blues and achievement. loq i’d let a hunter tame, but not this one. this one is toast.
and i am actually kind of mad at bliz. hunters are *really* attached to their pets, and to add another spirit beast, raising the hopes of every [insert pet] lover, then only to have it as another cat, and one which isn’t quite as cool looking… major let down.
crabs are my fav pet, but suck horribly, and no, i don’t think there should be a spirit crab, but still… wolf is needed, maybe bear and some sort of bird (tallstrider would rock, too… another lazorchikin). c’mon bliz. this isn’t show some love to someone other than cat owners. it is show at least a modicum of respect.
Ryai: I pulled your post out of moderation. I think it’s a combination of length plus links — it’s a very common tactic for spammers to post long excerpts from books with links for drug or porn sites intermixed — but in any case it’s not personal. I’d whitelist you if I could.
i’m loving both the spirit beasts, but then i have a rage-on for big cats and still have my bright orange lynx from the belf starting zone. i think a spirit beast wolf would rock though and i’d be down to tame that as well.
i’m just hoping that this will take some of the pressure off of hunters who want one of them–i’ve spent 36+ hours camping loque with absolutely zero luck and gondria looks really neat to me–he’s got the same mistiness about him that my green skeletal warhorse has. :D
btw, if anyone feels kindhearted, send a tell to marais on bronzebeard if you don’t want to kill/tame–i’ll be eternally in your debt!
i wont tame or kill it,but damn is that a let down (its blockyness and eyes ruin it for me).
its been MONTHS since i last saw a ghost wolf that wasnt mine or a shamans.theres the frostbitten achevment to.so loqs camped to death for two things now…
People focus too much on spirit beasts. why do yuo need a spirit crab or spirit raptor or any of those things. Instead, why not have Blizz help some of the pets that actually need it. Spiders, for example, have the worst pet skill, web for 4 seconds… Why get a spider for web when you can get a crab for charge then pin? or get a silithid if you’re BM. they should focus more on spiders and tallstriders and other pets that people rarely have because of there ability, not make the strong stronger and the weak weaker.
I’m very excited about the Spirit Beasts. However, I have a question. I’m a Survival Hunter, so I was wondering: Can a Hunter spec BM to tame an exotic pet and then respec to MM or Survival and still have the exotic pet?
yes, but u cant use it
come patch tho, u can have a spirit beast, and just have to switch spec. then choose a dif pet via stable spell when switching to SV
I don’t mind the looks my self, No Loque but maybe i can at least get this spirit beast.. camped Loque for a month now.. i manged to see one last night recently tamed but still yet to see it myself.. I hate to go Surv but on the PTR bm is… well i wish they had bm the way it was.. what was wrong.. other then saying we were op.. so what eveyone is op now to a bm
well as of BM, im currently doing alright dps… im not an frequent raider, but with Dsuar i can pull off 2.5k on most Nax 10 bosses. which is pretty good. but i will most likely go BM/sv or BM/MM come patch for a raid dps spec
@Gimlion
Then with luck i was just using wrong pet.. i might go Bm/Sur tho.. as for now went mostly surv with some marks for raiding.. I just know i want a spirit.. cat as it seems to be.. who knows maybe there is anther spirit beast we just haven’t found yet (i can dream)
If they make another spirit wolf, I want it to look different from mine. I fought hard at a time when I had almost no money to get that wolf, and it would piss me off to have everyone be able to get one. I realize that’s being selfish, but they’ve taken away the raety of everything else I have worked for. My winterspring saber, my deathcharger, everything. It pisses me off.
Gah, another freaking cat. It’s “Spirit Beasts”, Blizzard, not “Spirit Cats”. Just make Loque-like textures with differing colors and a couple tweaks to the models for every pet family and have one Spirit Beast representative of each family, how hard is that?
Nachtwulf pointed out a good point on the forums, so I’m going to post it here cause of all the “another cat!?” comments. XD
Even if they made a spirit bat and spirit crab (etc. etc.), it would still use claw (Claw is the focus dump of the SB family), it would still eat meat and fish (diet of the spirit beasts); thus how would a spirit bat or crab make sense? If my Bat started eating fish and using Claw, it wouldn’t be very bat-like to me.
Like someone else pointed on here, Spirit Beast seems to be the exotic version of a cat (much like a Spider’s counterpart is Silithid, and Raptor’s Devilsaur). It sucks for those tired of the Cat love, but it’s kinda the inevitable truth thus far.
Simple:
change spirit beasts so that their favorite food is only drinks!
(better yet, their favorite food would be alcohol – spirits!)
‘Ryai: I pulled your post out of moderation. I think it’s a combination of length plus links — it’s a very common tactic for spammers to post long excerpts from books with links for drug or porn sites intermixed — but in any case it’s not personal. I’d whitelist you if I could.’
Ty for explaining that to me, and pulling my post out of moderation. I’ll try to not link in the future because of that- and I’ll try to cut down my rant length too.
And since it is now all dawning on us Spirit Beasts are possibly the Exotic varriant of cats or atleast their equivalent, Blizz should A: rename them to Spirit Cats or possibly try to prove us wrong .. hopefully.
I mean not all animals have an exotic equal.
._. not like it matters atm untill Blizz really cares about balancing and fixing the trees outside oooh flashy talents. Oooh jazz hands BM hunters, jazz hands!
Btw speaking of Prowl- does it boost SS’s power or not? I’ve been confused about this and so I’ve rarely used it outside a few times just before a boss fight. But then again rarely since it’s a ‘one off buff’.
Well… this leaves me a bit dissapointed and confused. Honestly, I wish I could tell what the folks at blizzard were thinking.
A. If it’s a new pet family tree (spirit beast), why give them all the models of cats? It’s a new tree – new looks.. make them.. not cats?
B. If they intend to make them all look like cats – why bother giving them a new family tree? Just throw them in the cat tree (they have the same stats, +1 new ability) – and call it that.
C. So – okay, they have a new ability which merits a new family tree. But what I don’t get is.. if it’s a new tree, new family, extra ability.. Why oh why make them all look like cats? We… DO already have a “cat” section – which is quite full, might I add.. the only thing they’re missing is the “druid panther form” really. *rolls eyes* So, if they’re going to make a new family for it, why be all cats? And more to that point, why make this new one literally a cat? At least with the other Spirit beast, it was something other than “ghost saber with stripes”… You know?
I can understand them doing something to make it statistically sound (new ability merits new family)… But.. Being somebody who runs a game myself, I find it particularly lazy that with getting $165,000,000 PER MONTH (minimum), they cannot possibly afford the man-power, time, etc that requires them to put a little effort into it and make it at the very least consistant with the new “standard” they’ve set with the Spirit Beasts (them having new models).
Not to be nitpicky really but;
‘section – which is quite full, might I add.. the only thing they’re missing is the “druid panther form” really’
the Nelf cat form is tameable. It’s been reskinned Red and tawny-yellowred.
The Tauren catform has not been made tameable- nor been fixed. It’s as badly made unfortunately as this current Spirit Beast. And I should know. I got a nelf and tauren drood to lv 22 respectively, and while ratbear scares me, squishcowcat is worse.
@Rikaku
It never made sense when they regulated all pet speeds and turtles moved as swiftly as cats.
Ghostcrawler admitted that most pet mechanics and changes are made not due to any sort of homage to reality, but to maintain gameplay balance.
Also, while both reptiles, a Devilsaur is not a palette swap of a raptor. Two different models completely. Nor are sithlids palette swaps of spiders.
So far, Spirit Beasts are exclusively palette swaps of cats, the only pet family in the game that is tameable with that (dis)honor.
@ Raze
‘It never made sense when they regulated all pet speeds and turtles moved as swiftly as cats’
Well not only that but have you seen how swiftly turtles can haul their lil bums around? My dad and I rescued about a dozen or more over the last few years, from becoming literal speed bumps on the road. And they moved FAST. I looked away for a moment and one had gotten 25 feet and was still charging along, and two others were running in opposite directions.
Now add the fact one was a snake head/soft shell whatever, and it gets REALLY FUN ROUNDING THEM THAR TURTLES UP.
My dad laughed as I swore under my breath when it bit me
One of my earliest memories is my brother leaning over the ditch in the backyard, showing me the tiny hatchling softshell that thought it was hiding in the grass. And then it leapt up straight out of the water and grabbed hold of his finger so hard! Heh. Poor thing was terrified.
Aha ouch and lol. I know they are terrified, but why do they have to bite, whatever happened to turtles hide in their shells when scared!
Tho it didn’t stop me from helping the turtles to a safer home- I just wish it involved less of the biting.
Raze:
Yes I realize that, I think you misunderstand my words however. I’m not going for realism. Trust me, if I’m playing a 6 ft 1 purple skinned, silver eyed Night Elf, it’s obvious the last thing I’m going for is realism.
I’m trying to point out that if they made a Spirit Bat (for example), it still wouldn’t seem like a Hunter-Pet Bat because 1) It’d *Prowl*. 2) It’d *Claw* 3) It’d have the diet of a Cat. Why? Because all those skills belong to the Spirit Beast family, not just cats. So even if my “Spirit Beast” looked like a Bat, it still wouldn’t be a Bat-family-esque Bat because of it’s properties that make it seem *like* a cat and thus, like a Spirit Beast.
If that made sense O_o
*meant to add this above*
Prior to this new Spirit Beast, Spirit Beasts were NOT a palette swap of a cat. Loque’nahak looks as much feline-like as Devilsaur does a Raptor. But that’s also not what I’m saying. I meant look at their family skills: A Silithid is like an upgraded Spider, Devilsaur an upgraded Raptor, Spirit Beast is perhaps the upgraded (though Cats still outdps them) Cat.
Again not sure if I made sense, it’s early.
