PTR 3.1 Patch Notes Updated

The official Public Test Realm Patch Notes for PTR Patch 3.1.0 have been updated with, among other things, extensive additions to hunter notes.

By the way, one of those ‘other things’ is:

  • Hearthstone: Cooldown has been reduced to 30 min. down from 60 min

But let’s take a look at the hunter stuff. Note that these are the complete notes, so they will include things from the previous version of the patch notes also.

Hunters

  • Ammunition: All types of gun and bow ammunition now stack to 1000. All quivers and ammo pouches no longer provide haste. 15% ranged haste is now built in to Hunter Autoshot.
  • Call Stabled Pet: This new ability lets the hunter remotely access the stable. 30 min cooldown.
  • Cunning, Ferocity and Tenacity pets now all have +5% damage, +5% armor and +5% health bonuses. This should make more pet families feel viable, while additional talents have been added to distinguish a pet’s abilities based on its specializations.
  • Disengage: Cooldown increased by 5 sec.
  • Frost Trap: If the target who triggers Frost Trap is immune to its effect, the Frost Trap area effect will no longer be triggered.
  • Pets now inherit more spell hit from the hunter. Pets with magic attacks should not require a player to stack additional hit compared to pets with physical attacks.
  • Viper Sting re-designed: Stings the target, draining 4% of mana over 8 sec (up to a maximum of 8% of the caster’s maximum mana), and energizing the Hunter equal to 300% of the amount drained. Only one Sting per Hunter can be active on any one target.

Talents

  • Beast Mastery
    • Improved Aspect of the Hawk now has a new spell effect.
    • Improved Wing Clip: This talent has been removed.
  • Marksmanship
    • Piercing Shots re-designed: Your critical Aimed, Steady and Chimera Shots cause the target to bleed for 10/20/30% of the damage dealt over 8 sec.
    • Ranged Weapon Specialization: Points reduced from 5 to 3, 1/3/5%.
    • Wild Quiver: Chance increased to 4/8/12%, up from 4/7/10%. Damage increased from 50% of an auto shot, to 80%.
  • Survival
    • Explosive Shot: Base damage lowered by 10%. Attack power scaling reduced by 12.5%.
    • Hunting Party: This talent has been reduced to 3-points, and now increases your total Agility by an additional 1/2/3%.
    • Lock and Load re-designed: You now have a 33/66/100% chance when you trap a target with Freezing Trap, Freezing Arrow or Frost Trap and a 2/4/6% chance when you deal periodic damage with your Immolation Trap or Black Arrow to cause your next 2 Arcane Shot or Explosive Shot spells to trigger no cooldown, cost no mana and consume no ammo. This now has a new spell effect and sound.
    • New Talent: Black Arrow: Fires a Black Arrow at the target, increasing all damage done by you to the target by 6% and doing periodic shadow damage for 15 sec. 30 sec. cooldown.
    • T.N.T. re-designed: Increases the damage done by your Explosive Shot, Explosive Trap and Immolation Trap by 2/4/6%.
    • Trap Mastery: This talent has been moved up to tier-2, up from tier-9.
    • Wyvern Sting duration increased from 12 sec to 30 sec. PvP duration reduced from 10 sec to 6 sec.

Pets

  • Bullheaded now adds 20% damage reduction for 12 sec along with its current CC-removal effect.
  • Cornered: The crit reduction when this ability is active has been increased.
  • Feeding Frenzy increased to 8/16% damage up from 6/12%.
  • Furious Howl (wolf special ability) now stacks with Battle Shout and Blessing of Might, however, it only affects the wolf and hunter. Its effect and cooldown have been doubled so that it provides the same benefit but isn’t up 100% of the time.
  • Gorillas now have a new family ability, Pummel, which works like the warrior ability and has a single rank.
  • Grace of the Mantis and Roar of Sacrifice are now also available to Cunning pets.
  • New Talent: Shark Attack: This new two-rank talent is available to Ferocity pets. It increases pet damage.
  • New Talent: Silverback: This new two-rank talent is available to Tenacity pets. It heals the pet when Growl is used.
  • New Talent: Wild Hunt: This new two-rank talent is available to all 3 pet trees. It increases the stamina and attack power inherited from the hunter.
  • Roar of Recovery cooldown decreased to 3 min, down from 6 min.
  • Roar of Sacrifice can be used on the hunter only.
  • Stampede (rhino) only affects 1 target, but adds a 25% bleed damage debuff (that does not stack with Mangle etc.) in addition to its knockback.
  • Thunderstomp is no longer a gorilla-specific family ability and is now available to all Tenacity pets. It has been reduced to one rank.

Hunter Glyphs

  • Glyph of Chimera Shot: Reduces the cooldown of Chimera Shot by 1 sec.
  • Glyph of Explosive Shot: Increases the critical strike chance of Explosive Shot by 4%.
  • Glyph of Explosive Trap: The periodic damage from your Explosive Trap can now be critical strikes.
  • Glyph of Kill Shot: Reduces the cooldown of Kill Shot by 6 sec.
  • Glyph of Raptor Strike: For 3 sec. after using Raptor Strike, you take 20% less damage.
  • Glyph of Scatter Shot: Increases the range of Scatter Shot by 3 yards.

Bug Fixes

  • Savage Rend (raptor special ability): Fixed a tooltip error to correctly note this ability boosts damage rather than attack power.

Much of this stuff we already knew in one form or another, but it’s good to see the details making it into the patch notes. And some bits are new — like the changes to pet stats. I’m sure we’ll all have lost to say about that. *grin*

My thanks to Ceron, who posted on the forums here and then e-mailed me to be absolutely sure I noticed.

  1. Hierakles

Good to see the ammunition changed are back in, was getting a little worried there =D It will be interesting what our pet dps will be like with all these changes and buffs. “Cunning, Ferocity and Tenacity pets now all have +5% damage, +5% armor and +5% health bonuses” Am I reading this right? The way I see it, all pets are getting 5% more hp, armour and dmg?

  2. Jinza

Thanks for keeping us updated! Things are shaping up to be interesting for us BMers.

Our pets are seeing a lot of tweaking, however the BM Tree has been left alone for the most part.

While buffs are being put in the other 2 trees, I foresee, from the look of these notes, that BM hunters will get their awesome DPS back but at the cost of pet dependence. Many enjoy stating that BMers do not take skill and overlook pet micromanaging. If things keep up where pets are being buffed instead of the BM tree, then those hunters that excel at pet management will see the best results.

That’s my opinion, however. Its’ not gospel or fact.

  3. Nimizar

Not quite Hierakles. The +5%/+5%/+5% change means that, before pet talents and family skills are taken into account, all pets of a given level will now have the same base health, armour and damage output. Previously, ferocity pets had less armour than cunning pets (+0% instead of +5%) but did more damage (+10% instead of +5%), while tenacity pets had more health (+10% instead of +5%), but did less damage (+0% instead of +5%).*

Post 3.1, those innate differences will be gone – any differences will all be down to pet talents and family skills. The main upside to this is that taking a utility pet (e.g. a Nether Ray or Gorilla for their interrupt abilities, or a Worm for its armour debuff) will be less of a DPS loss for the hunter than it is at the moment.

  4. Ilyara

    @Hierakles

I take this to mean that the inherent bonuses for each pet tree will now be normalised to the above. This would imply that, without the additional talents, Ferocity pets will experience a 5% dps loss, since they currently have a 10% inherent damage modifier. With two points in Shark Attack they should receive a net 3% dps boost and you can put 2 further points into improved AP/Sta scaling ofc.

  5. Nimizar

@Jinza: something the notes don’t mention is that non-BM hunters don’t have enough pet talent points to reach and max out the new Wild Hunt/Shark Attack/Silverback talents (and apparently Grace of the Mantis in the Cunning tree). It takes 15 pet talent points just to unlock the 5th tier. At that point, non-BM hunters only have 1 point left, while there are going to 2 2-point talents in the 5th tier of each tree.

  6. Valanthe

I think the normalizing of pets is a bit of a loss, making them even less unique. I liked having that additional damage boost for bringing a ferocity pet, or the extra stamina for my tenacity pet. The 5% loss to damage in ferocity may hit a little hard, considering that Shark attack doesn’t completely make up for it. But I also still miss pets with unique skills such as increased attack speed.
I am, however, excited to have the 51 BM talent worthwhile for something other than pretty pets!

  7. Mania Post author

I should also mention that as of right now, the new stuff doesn’t seem to be live on the PTR. I suspect it will be coming in a new PTR build soon (this weekend or early next week maybe?), but probably not immediately since they’re doing scheduled Ulduar testing as I type.

(*grumble* Stupid raid testing making it hard to log in and check out pets. *grumble*)

  8. Drina

Unless I have been under a misapprehension for a long time then the ranged haste bonus from quivers also affected cast time of Steady shot?
If this was correct then the patch notes says the bonus has been incorporated into Autoshot meaning it is a sneaky Steady Shot nerf. (maybe Im wrong about the previous quiver haste mechanics!)
Im also not happy about the change to family bonuses. The different damage/armour/health was part of the uniqueness of the trees. I would also like to have seen pets get an overall boost to armour and health to make them viable to survive or even tank. From theorycrafting I estimate my gorilla will drop to about 16k armour unbuffed and IF I went back to BM for full Wild Hunt would only put it to around 22k health. Neither of these values plus its still low avoidance will make it a viable tank in anything but normal instances or soloing, making the point of a tenacity pet irrelevant as I can solo perfectly well with a ferocity pet :(

  9. Kanaan

Probably going to be laughed at for it, but color me one unhappy belf about the changes to furious howl. =/ However, I’ll refrain from bellyaching too much until I can see the change in action for myself.

  10. Drina

Also based on the changes so far it will make the pet lovers happy as I think I will change focus back off SV and on to BM again.
If Uldar is full of constructs then it makes Improved tracking useless as they are one of the few monster types it doesnt cover. Also the nerf to Explosive is quite significant. The reduction in crit on TNT and the new mechanic to LNL without serpent will also be a heavy penalty. The idea that Black Arrow replaces it is poor as its only 15s and unless the trap launcher is included (seemed might not be possible with tech) then immolation trapping will be sketchy (and currently I am unsure if the new TNT immolation trap refresh from Ex Shot is included yet.
All in all a sad day for a spec which had become quite fun to play.

  11. Grizzled Hunter Yojimbow

I’m sure that it’s hard to find out with the raid testing and all, but has anyone on the PTR noticed any new pets that are tamable, or old ones that weren’t that are now?

I would get in on this PTR, but I had a heck of a time with the last one and gave up halfway through. Not only that, but time restraints don’t permit it.

Thank you for any and all information given. I’ve still got my doubts about whether half of this will really go live or not, but I’ll reserve judgment until it DOES go live.

  12. Grizzled Hunter Yojimbow

** Sorry for the double post **
Also, I noticed in earlier Patch Notes that the “Call Stabled Pet” was Level 80 only, and now notice it isn’t. Is it confirmed that it can be used by (presumably) any level?

I’d think only being able to use it at 80 is not only limiting, but kind of stupid, IMHO…

  13. Slayr Abraxas

The best part of this whole thing for me is all Tenacity Pets get Thunderstomp. My Gorilla was an awesome tank, but honestly, pretty butt-ugly. I just don’t like the idea of having a Gorilla run around behind me. A Rhino or a Bear, or even a Jormungar Worm with Thunderstomp is awesome, though.

  14. Magnakilro

I have one question……how are worms Thunderstomping? Do they like slam thier heads or tails into the ground rly hard? lols

  15. Korzak

Why gimp Disengage? It was already limited by terrain. Were hunters not sucking badly enough in PvP?

    *sigh*

Lot of good changes, too, but…why nerf Disengage?

  16. Rikaku

I’m kinda surprised by the sudden outcry of the Dual spec and/or Call Stabled Pet feature being for levels below 80. I mean Dual spec I can sort of understand. Though personally, I had no trouble finding groups and leveling as Hunter, Shaman, Paladin, and Druid. But the Call pet feature? I’m sorry but…why? I honestly don’t see why this feature needs to be something implemented until 80; at the earliest I’ll say lvl 60. It’s not like you absolutely have to have 2 pets to level with all the time.

Anyways, the normalization is a good thing in my opinion. it’d be nice to have a bit more survivability to a ferocity pet in a raid, even if it is a small amount of damage reduced.

  17. Mania Post author

Personally, I would very much love to see the Call Stabled Pet at lower levels because it answers one of my greatest desires since the game launched: a way to keep my normal pet with me most of the time, but be able to switch to an empty stable slot or a throwaway pet if I happen to run across a rare beast I’ve been looking for for months …

  18. Ryai

‘Cunning, Ferocity and Tenacity pets now all have +5% damage, +5% armor and +5% health bonuses. This should make more pet families feel viable, while additional talents have been added to distinguish a pet’s abilities based on its specializations’

    LOLOLOL.

It’s like I once said to Pala before, if Blizz wanted all pets and hunter trees equal..

But tbh this is stupid, I was NOT being serious in my grumble about Blizzard, I do NOt like this, I’m sorry but that lost 5% from armor for tank pets, is alot imo. Tank pets are tanks, they don’t need to dps, they don’t need to cause extra damage. It’s not how they hold threat. Growl and Thunderstomp [and varios racial abilities] will be how they hold it.

I would rather tank pets have 10%/10% for hp and armor, than balance it all around.

    /facepalm

Though what I said before was if they truly wanted balance then there’d be no exotics- devilsaurs and etc would be tameable by normal hunters anyways. And what about them? Did they take away the +10% dmg or whatever that Exotics do? Oh GOOD GOING.

‘With two points in Shark Attack they should receive a net 3% dps boost and you can put 2 further points into improved AP/Sta scaling ofc’

Actually, since 2/2 for that would have, before this, brought all pets up to pre nerf days, [since that one talent still only gives 15%], and with this.. it’s basically no different. You’re just making a DPS pet have to make up for silly fixes from Blizzard :/

I mean don’t you see? 5% of the talent goes to fixing the BM hunter- then the last three goes into where the +5 they took away. Leaving you with a net total of … a pet that now lacks 2%. Not much but :/

  19. Ansawa

Yeah, I’m really upset I can bring my dragonhawk with me to a raid and not have to worry about the base 5% DPS I’m losing over a cat or a spirit beast when I want Roar of Recovery.

    *sigh*

  20. Ryai

Ansawa: This is still a nerf in general- to tank pets for losing 5% armor, for dps pets losing 5% dmg. Because as I said this now forces you to really specc 2/2 in shark frenzy to regain pre nerf and now pre fix status, then this also gimps my orc’s racial causing it to now really be a wopping +3% given the fact it’ll take everything to get to how it is now, including her +pet dmg racial.

Equality is not always a good thing.

  21. Warlock

    THIS
    IS
    RIDICULOUS

seriously, please stop crying those MEGA BUFFS are nerfs, please just stop
ALL other classes have stuff that fills about one bag, soon you wont have any of that and still you cry, that its not enough
    [...]
it’s almost like you never saw another class, but you always assume they are blizzards little favorites
im gonna go spec my warlock pvp now, round up my guild and go kill all hunters on my realm
    twice
i used to come here regularly, but all this whining makes me sick, [...]

  22. Mania Post author

I’ve made some minor edits to your comment, Warlock, removing those bits that most blatantly violate the comment policy here. Please try to keep that policy in mind in the future. (You can find it on the About page.) Thanks!

  23. Ryai

Wow … even when I hated being owned by mages with no skill I never went and whined in their forum.

I’d like to point out- these ‘mega buffs’ are countered by quite serious nerfs. That while ‘they are great’ when you view them in part with what is happening, they aren’t as great as they seem. And am I the only one still noticing BM has only TWO ‘fixes’ and those are for imp AotH AND a talent only SV has?

Anyways, unfortunately, Death Knights, Rogues and Warlocks are Blizzards’ favorites. Why? Because most of blizzard plays those classes. And if not the general class, a general specc. Have you seen the nerfs druids are getting? I mean someone even made a comic about the nerfs for resto druids. Yes I know they can still heal but it’s about the nerfs to what heals they were using.

And from my friend, if you’ve not got the gear, you don’t have a chance to gear up. Contradictory isn’t it? Then there’s people who blacklist her, just for being balance, or assume druids can only dps in feral, and not caster.. or demand she’s a healer and not listen when she says otherwise.

Then their tree is as bloated as BM and pet trees are.

Btw, I hope you have ‘fun’, because as much as I hate rogues I don’t go out and decide oh since that one’s a jerk, I’ll take it out on them all!!!!!

… make me almost ashamed I rolled a warlock.

  24. Ariamodasu

To be honest I’m not surprised with the cheapskate balancing out with the 5%s, they pulled this on Druids already when Moonkin and Dire Bear armor percentage got equalised then they nerfed them BOTH which started us further than the road of “Balance is screwed”. They’re infamously lasy rather than do things properly and it’s hugely fustrating :/ For every one good thing there’s about 6 that steal the limelight in terriblness.

Bye lifebloom, say hello to Starfall for me.

  25. Blacksands

Mania….. It would have rather been better it you actually deleted Warlock’s whole post. I caught the tail end of his/her post before your edited it. Its blatantly a troll post and judging by how much you creatively edited it, it still remains as one. If he/she had taken the time to actually do some honest research in regards to those patch notes, he/she would have seen what the others have seen. We may all agree to disagree with our own opinions to each news, but even with our tempers running high, we still manage to have the decency not to go ape (pun intended) and act like our sanity went bye-bye. I was actually tempted to quote a line from Det. Sledge Hammer from his TV series in response to Warlock’s post…..

On to the lucky few on the PTR: in regards to the pet “balancing” if its live…. any news on how tenacity, ferocity, and cunning pets hold up to the new tweaks? In all honesty, I wished that they should have just left the pets alone…. And I still don’t see the fixes to glitching on some pet abilities…. tbh, i haven’t played my hunter in a while only except to farm with either of my tank pets if my low level druid needed mats/cash(gorilla and rhino) , did they ever fix cower and similar related bugs? On both my pet tanks, I’ve kept that ability on the pet hotkey bar ever since the original glitch showed up months ago so I can’t tell coz I make sure that its always “off”

  26. Suzi

On a personal level I’m happy for all the good changes thrown our way, especially much higher ammo stacks. Some things are a little disappointing but I can see the reasoning behind it.

Overall whenever I see new patch notes I end up asking myself “is this enough of a nerf to make me stop enjoy playing my character?” – the answer is always no. Besides, the ptr isn’t over yet! :)

  27. Think

New content is good. But can we stop until we fix the many bugs in the old content? How many new bugs will interact with the old bugs? Pets getting stuck in arena is really stupid. Pets auto turning on and off abilities in the pet spell tab is stupid. Pets getting stuck in other areas in instances and even general areas. Pets getting disoriented about where to go or where to attack. Perhaps I play too much because I still run into all these problems with different pets and different specs.
Let’s hope Blizzard returns to their glory days of being the best bug squishers I ever dealt with. Let’s hope they stop being like Mafiasoft and keep adding bugs to bugs hoping the new stuff makes the bugs unimportant.

  28. Ronken

TBH I’ve lost faith in PTR tests. I have yet to see any suggestions or warning acted upon (bugs, yes) until after they hit live. So all those nerfs / buffs, I expect to see go live for the most part. The most horrible of bugs I expect to see fixed. The real balancing and fine tuning I expect to see after it goes live. This is my MHO after playing for four years.

  29. Rottingham

I seriously think that all of these changes and fixed bugs are great! (Personally I want my crab with thunderstomp :P) however I think that they sghould have focused on spiders a bit more. why get a spider to use web when a crab does the same thing and also does damage with it? I understand that the spider’s web has a 20 yard range, however a crab (or any other pet) has dive/dash, or even charge, so they can get to the enimy fast enough if they try to run away. I think that they should either extend the time on the web or make it a cocoon so the enimy cannot attack, either. But I don’t know if people think that the spider is still good because of the 20 yard range or not, I just think that spiders are one of the cooler modeled pets (especially the long forgotten ones from the Searing Gorge) and think that no one will ever use a spider anymore because of their web. They are so great, yet have poor skills :(

  30. Rottingham

    enemy* sorry.
On the other hand I still think that the extended ammo slots are excellent. 1000 ammo er slot, wow! Black Arrow also seems decent, and I want to know the new spell effect that Apsect of the Hawk has too. It will be a great patch, not to mention Ulduar coming from it (I really want to see someone pull a Leeroy Jenkins in a chopper :P)

  31. Gimlion

Ok, i for one like most of these notes, seeing as i am still BM, not much nerfs on my end, but one thing i am not happy with is the fact that all pets are getting the same modifiers… there was a reason blizz created the trees with dif modifiers… Ten.= tanking (more health and armor) Fer.= Dps (more dmg than others) Cun.= PvP/overall utility pet (+5% everything) so to me it is an obvious bad decision that in my mind i hope they drop or get rid of in the future

  32. Rikaku

Ok, I for one am quite happy with the modifiers to equalize the pet stats. Why? Because currently on the PTR BM pets are OUTDPS’ING the Hunters. BM pets (and I’m only going to mention BM pets because BM is really the only spec that HAS to focus so much on the pet) are doing a TON of damage as of the changes to this patch compared to any pet currently live.

Devilsaurs and Spirit Beasts are hitting over 3.1k dps WITH this current equalization on the PTR. On Live they’re doing what, 1.6-2k DPS roughly, and that’s WITH the 10% damage buff.

I can honestly say that I can live with -5% damage if my pet is doing 1.1k more dps. Maybe some others can’t (and I can understand that) but that’s just my 2 cents.

    Warfish:
Honestly, if you left WoW why are you still patrolling WoW-centered blogs?

    Warlock:
Don’t even get me started on you. I’m ok with criticism, but if you’re going to do it, be helpful.

  33. Noba

I’m loving the new pet talents. I love the reduced cooldown on roar of recovery. LOVE thunderstomp to all tenacities (yay for my ghost croc!)
The ‘balancing’ of the modifiers to 5%… well, that’s debatable. In a sense, its great that I can now use some cunning pets without shame. It’ll let them be close to on-par with ferocities when talented right. Now, also tenacities can be a reasonable choice to bring to an instance as well, if specced to include the few dps talents. Ok, so tenacities wont tank AS strong. But from my experience, they werent viable heroic tanks anyway, so does it matter? even at 5/5/5%, theyll solo and old-content goofing tank fine. It does hurt some to reduce the ferocities. :/ Perhaps they should have made pets 5/5/7, 7/5/5, whatever, with 7% instead of 5% in their primary stat. Ah well. I think they wanted it TOTALLY the same so min-maxers wont harrass others into using just ferocity pets. Sorry for the book. Just sayin’ its not ALL bad.

  34. Flinkbaum

I want to know more about the Haste change.

The 15% on our Ammo Pouches affected everything. The new wording makes me think that it will only affect the speed of our auto-shot and not any of our specials. For the BM hunter that’s worked hard to avoid getting any gear with +Haste on it (because we were already at the global cooldown for Steady Shot) to have to suddenly go hunting +Haste gear would be an annoying nerf. Our 1.5 second Steady Shots suddenly taking 1.63 seconds would make things messy. And I doubt anyone wants Volley taking ’15% longer’ to do the same damage.

  35. Saranette

I misread the pet wide 5% dealy, thinking it was an across the board 5% tweaking boost they did to pets on top of their tree strengths and weaknesses. Kinda sad about not being able to stack it with Silverback for some truly monstrous HP, but just Silverback alone sounds mighty fine. If they wanted to make interest in switching from ferocity pets, than they’ve succeeded… Hehe, but I don’t wanna get rid of my crew, I love them all!

  36. BM4life

I spent some time now on PTR with my spirit beast and worm, and so far the current changes to the pet talents look very good to me.
On a heroic target dummy my DPS went up by about 800 , from a bit less then 2k on live to a bit more then 2,7k on PTR. My spirit beast as well as my cat do about 1,2k on PTR, where last time i checked on live it was around 700 if I remeber well (My gear is far from great, as it’s 90% pre-naxx10 stuff).
As far as my thunderstomping worm goes, it finally stats to feel like a tank with over 20k armor and about 19K hp. Silverback works nice as well: although the tooltip indicates that it restores 2% of max hp with each growl, its 3800, so i guess its supposed to be 20%

  37. Arnen

I have a feeling the auto shot haste speed will now be added on to the auto shot tooltip like “Also increases all ranged attack speed by 15%” or something, so that just having auto shot works like having a quiver. I’m also glad they just increased the stack size; so we still have that unique aspect to the class, it’s just a little easier to handle. :)

I can’t wait for my cuddly bear to be thunderstomping! <3 Though I’m a bit miffed about his HP and armor being nerfed… Even when I was BM, he’d still have less health than me, unbuffed. You’d think a -tanking pet- would logically have more health than the hunter you’re taking for, hm? And I’m still not taking him to raids. Same base stats or not, my kitty is still far better suited for DPS. Really hope that doesn’t make it live.

The small tweaks to MM intrigue me, and I can’t wait to try them out.

And no one’s mentioned the Viper Sting changes? This could potentially lead to CRAZY mana draining! You basically get 12% of the mob’s mana over 8 seconds. On bosses with giant mana pools, you could be getting most of your mana back super fast, meaning that instead of switching to Aspect of the Viper you can just pop a sting on the boss and BAM.

  38. Leozero

so many ppl qqing about not beign able to reach last tiers… you can afford to get one but of course youl have to miss something else, this is they way blizz buff up bm hunters because we were behind surv, marks also got nice buffs and its preety close to bm.
my ptr researchon heroc dummy (bm and marks had same gem/enchants, surv had agi ones, and was a second copy of my hunter)
BM buld with devilsaur 3500 average dps with all cds, 3000 dps without cds (pet doing 1400 dps, also tested spirit beast wich did 1300 dps)
marks build with cat 3400 average with all cds and 3050 dps without cds
Surv build 3100 dps average with all cds and 2800 without

as you can see surv is lagging a little behind now, maybe because of the redesigns of abilities, perhaps this is preety close to my current target dummy damage on live, so im guessing they will nerf wild hunt to 10-20% that will even the things a little

On bm build and with wild hunt my pet had same ap as me (4k+)and both devilsaur and spirit beast were doing 1k and higher hits with 2-3k crits

Hm. A lot of those changes are fairly alright. They are never ever gonna get viper sting to be useful are they? Sure, 300% of drained mana goes to the hunter, but only 4% of the target’s mana is drained? What a waste of time. You’re not *reeeeally* gonna get much mana put onto yourself, and you’re not gonna drain the mana out of any target. I dunno why they bother even keeping the damn thing.

I can’t be the only one that thinks this way surely…

Spiders are cool but the cooldown is not. Silithids do it better in the same class and crabs do it better in another class. Plus all the really great new spiders are not tamable. Plus spiders are really small even at 80 for some reason.

But bats are the worst choice of all. One minute cooldown for a 2 sec stun and 62-88 damage at 80. Ravager has 40 second cooldown for a 2 sec stun and 106-150 damage at 80 in the same class of pet no less.

Though raptors are a joke too. One minute cooldown for an attack that does less damage than other pets in the same class that have 10 second cooldowns.

Sure need at least another 5 pet slots. Keep leveling 75 to 80 only to have to let go to try another one. Have special pets filling slots that are no longer available or too hard to get to give up.

‘And no one’s mentioned the Viper Sting changes? This could potentially lead to CRAZY mana draining! You basically get 12% of the mob’s mana over 8 seconds. On bosses with giant mana pools, you could be getting most of your mana back super fast, meaning that instead of switching to Aspect of the Viper you can just pop a sting on the boss and BAM.’

Ooooh just wait untill the Arena casters start QQing, there was alot of it going about last year when a hunter pointed out the facts all other ‘casters’ get mana back for what they do, yet our drain was a bit pitiful compared.

Alot of gameplay has been broken thanks to Arena and people trying to actually attempt to balance an unbalancable aspect of the game.

hm, did they remove the summoning-animation of Gezzarak? I’m only getting the animation when I call the pet, not when I’m dismounting
