It’s true! It’s finally true! On the Public Test realms right now, Blue Flutterers and Royal Blue Flutterers — the low level blue moths of Bloodmyst Isle — can finally be tamed!
And just in case, I re-checked the following as well:
- The Sapphire Hive Queen is still becoming untameable.
- The Spirits of Atha, Ha-Khalan, and Koosu are still becoming untameable, but the ones I have in the stable still work just fine.
Thanks for the update. Any information on whether Gezzarak is still tamable on the PTR?
I think i still have a few scrolls in the bank, so I’ll see if I can pop on and check (for Gezzarak).
I heard that Gezz was not only still tamable, but that they fixed her bugs. I don’t have confirmation though =(
Hopefully they fix her inability to attack enemy players, but keep her special ‘entrance’ when she’s summoned. (That little tidbit was my favorite part about taming the Arikara, back in the day; I still have him for that reason.)
Thanks for the update! I am glad I have my little pet slime in my stables already, I love my Goober. Why is the Hive Queen become un-tameable? Is she buggy? (No pun intended- oh wait.) I am off to tame her even as I type.
awsome! ive been wanting one of those flutters!
Now if they’d just make the non-boss or lightning bug wasps available!
if you mean the Zangarmash firefly-type wasps, by “lightning bug”, then they’ve been tameable since patch 3.0. They and the Sholazar ones are the onely wasps available. I agree that it would be nice (more than nice) to get the regular silithid wasps opened up though.
… although if they do, please don’t let them be quite as huge as the Sapphire Hive wasps, which are lovely, but unmanageable.
I worded that badly, heh.
I meant the non-boss and non-lightning bug wasps. *blush*
Time for the low level hordies to trek over to Bloodmyst again… Dangerous, but rewarding!
BTW, anyone notice that they skinned the updater program? Skinned it to look like WoW instead of some grey Windows box. Classy, but maybe a little pointless.
Do the ooze and hydra still keep their annoying noises? Blizzard probably wouldn’t fix that since they hate glitched pets and steal them away from us :[ But I just thought I would ask.
Mythan, Gezzarak is fixed. Another user here gave me a URL to the screenshot and she had been buffed and misdirect cast onto her. I just hope that carries on through the patch.
OK NOW IM PISSED!!! I already snuck to Azuremyst, in depression because I had to tame one of the much lamer white-ish moths, and then go and make the blue ones tameable?! Grrrrrrrrrr
Ugh, I’m still waiting for the Oracle daily to come up where I can tame a slime. Hope it comes in before the next patch, or I’ll be stuck :(
You can ask in chat if anyone else has the quest…I just got it, tamed the hydralisk, then called up the hydra again to complete the quests, so it’s not a one-use situation.
Great to hear Gezzarak is fixed, time to gather those scrolls. ;)
Anyone know if the Dragonhawks over at the Crystalsong Flightpoint are still tamable by Horde? (‘Cause they *fixed* the ones at the Eversong/Ghostlands Flightpoints. >< )
Even more reason why my guildmates who hate her can piss off. :P
I had Gezzarak too, but I had to abandon her to get my hydra :/… I do prefer the hydra though.
I was gonna get the hydra, butt then I heard the hydra. No sale XD Gezzerak does maintain the awesome animation intro and is fixed properly on the PTR <3 Fun times. I haven’t tested Rake and Spirit Strike this push, but I will later. Rake has stopped overscaling with Attack Power this push, so I’m curious to see the changes in it.
How about the other 2 silithid boss wasps?
and the
Pardon for spam, the url tags are giving me a headache -_-
Meant to ask if those are still tameable on PTR
‘(’Cause they *fixed* the ones at the Eversong/Ghostlands Flightpoints. >< )’
Well damn.. I was gonna get the red dragonhawk thatway on an ally alt of mine..
Like Tsani I want to know this question too- and would they be tameable for alliance?
Cause really doubt at lv 80 it would be any easier to get to where the only other tameable skin is :/
Oh good, I’m glad to hear Gezzarak is fixed. She cost me a lot of blood, anguish and tears, and it was a shame not to be able to buff her to her full potential.
On another note, I’m using Fenrir, who is a tamed wolf (skin is the Old Cliff Jumper, even though it is hard to tell he is unique, at least I know and appreciate him). He is my raid pet, because who doesn’t love furious howl? But I have noticed that sometimes the cd is on, but the buff was not given to anyone, even if everyone is in range. Has anyone else had this problem with the worgs, wolves or Vargul Blighthounds?
I’ll never get my hunter up to 80 to get my hydra :(
Mainly cause I focused on my already-70 chars first (warrior & druid).
Ah well, I can only hope they add another beast family later for real hydra’s.
@Aeira Both BoM and BS override the wolf howl, this is most likely your problem.
the wolf, in a raiding environment, just isnt great. for soloing and for 5 mans if you dont have a lot of dps warriors or pallies they are really nice though. :)
As a hunter I love collecting rares and unique skinned pets.
In my stables I have:
1. Ghost Saber – Negligee
2. Koosu – Liposuction
3. Loque’Nahak – Conspiracy
4. Grimtotem Spirit Guide – Kordusatos
5. Devilsaur (not rare or unique but top dps) – Powder
And I would give up my troll dreadlocks for 1 or 2 more stable slots.
P.S. I wish that our beloved pets would still run next to our ground mounts but still be dismissed by our flying mounts. It made hunters look so formidable looking. So many times it takes to long for our pets to materialize when we attack something on the ground when dismounting.
Just my 2 cents. I wonder what you guys think of that?
:D
A lot of cool pets but I’m a leveling slug so I won’t get the chance. Thanks for the heads up though. If I was close I’d power level. So at least some will get the chance because of your heads up. Good job.
I am waiting dutifully for the Oracles ‘Cleansing Song’ quest, so I can tame the ghosts.
I too miss having our pets out while mounted, to the above poster. You would think Blizz could code it in such that pets stayed out with a land mount, but not a flying mount. Instead they just unsummon all pets on mounting anything, the lazy way out. What is this, EverQuest? :)
I know some people like it the way it is, so I’d rather there was an option we could check to turn pet/mount settings one way or another.
I hate the pet dismissing when I mount system. I always have and always will. To be honest, I only knew one person happy about that change, but he’s a noob so whatever lol. I guess some people were too lazy to fly high in the air and have the pet auto-dismiss before flying and thats what caused the whole problem =/
Now that Gezzerak is fixed, I’m happy. I can finally get rid of my devilsaur though cause Spirit Beast damage is getting fixed. I hate my noisy devilsaur.
And I really wanted to try to tame the Hydra…
He looks cute.
Oh well… I guess Blizzard doesn’t want us to be TOO much fun.
This is fantastic news for baby goat hunters, hooray!

Yes, just put yourself at war with them.
The hydra hiss doesn’t really bother me, but I don’t use it constantly. Kind of a shame I dropped the hive queen…since I got my two ‘druid’ pets (finally) and re-tamed my original pet, I don’t really have room for her…unless I dropped my crab…
I’ve been playing since the game first came out and I kind of like having the pet dismiss once you mount even though I miss having the old striped cat mount look like King Bang’s bigger cousin when he ran alongside it… but then, I was always worried about pet happiness when the pet glitched and got stuck around a tight corner that we went around on our mounts that they auto-dismiss on me and I find them getting unhappy after that happened more than once (I pretty much run all over the place)…. and I think the reason why they implemented the pet-wide dismiss when you mount was due to the fact we got flying mounts and most pets we use are land-based, etc, etc…. though there were those that had owls since level 10…. –just sayin’… anyways, there was also a huge glitch long ago when the Netherwing Rep grind first came up…. our pets were fine to auto-dismiss once we got enough height until we got into the zone where we change into the orc and they just got summoned, fell, and died over that area once our disguise takes over (rezzing them once we landed to do our dailies were a #^%@#%!! to do every single time we zone into the area for the first time)… rather than fix it for that alone, they did it for every instance we mount up.
I’ll miss the Ghost Hydradile/Ooze/Croc pet and the Wasp Hive Queen……. but I won’t cry over it too much, never was a croc fan… though I do think I’ll tame Blacksting on my alt hunter just for kicks…. I think he’s the only other Wasp colored red and black….. wish they could make pterodactyls tamable though as an exotic cross between a carrion bird and a bat (always did want to call that sort of pet “Razorbeak” after the Transformers G1 crew).
And as for Gezzerak…… WOOOT!!! I can finally get that one out of my stable and use it for real rather than have it as a simple trophy pet!
I am still kind of irate that the Silithid wasps are untamable, even by deep BM hunters… the Silithid tanks are, but not the wasps? Seems illogical.
so what strategey did u guys use for gezzarak? im gonna give it a try later
I to miss having pets run next to me while on my mount. i wish the dismiss only would aply to flying mounts and not ground mounts.
Aeira – old cliff jumper…ive only seen that dog ONCE. in my over 2 years of playing wow and lvling several toons though that area..the only wolf with that skin and rare, id call him unique too. for the howl. it doesnt stack with simmilar buffs :( .
There are many beast out there id like to see become tameable. specially the hydras and the marsh walkers in zangarmarsh. and the pterodactyls.
Gezzarak. You can solo tame her with alot of luck, but its best with a little party of 2-3 pallies or rogues that can stun lock her while you tame. haveing someone that can throw you a heal if you should get unlucky and get knocked over again and again is nice to have. She hits hard.
Haste gear and potion might help too.
If you are to try and solo tame her…farm about 100 scrolls and bring loads of patience. use a substitute pet to hold her busy while you get ready with potions, trinkets, deterance and whatnot, abandom your current pet and hit tame as fast as you can and cross fingers she wont knock you over.
oh and her warp doesnt brake your tame, so dont worry if she warps over to you :)
good luck and happy hunting.
moral is dont solo tame it its not eorth it bring aton of heals :p
I’m with Trowa on that; Gezzerak is a pain to tame, even with two people it took me at least 6 mins to successfully tame her. However, once I used my idea, it helped. I had my shaman friend drop some healing totems (Gezz was still running around amok) and I used distracting shot and she came out me. I backed up into this small spot between two trees, throwing the shaman out of LoS. The totems still healed and Gezz couldnt go after him cause of LoS. Tame finished without a problem. No haste, no heroism (we blew all those earlier).
I’m sure you could solo tame it, but it’s just not worth it. Keep in mind yoiu have to farm shadow dust, to get the shadow potion; you need that to even see the mobs that drop the time lost scrolls and you need about 10 of those just for 1 summon. Its about 30-40mins of work (if you already have the quest) just for that alone.
Save yourself a headache, bring a pal(adin) ;)
I am so happy that they are finally fixing Gezzerak. Me and a friend (Ret Pally) took her down, and omg, that had to be the worst taming ever. I agree with Rikaku, bring a Paladin for the bubble heals. Gezzerak hits hard too, even on an 80. And when she pushes you back…Ugh!
And for the earlier posts about having pets stay by your side when you ground mount, YES PLEASE. Or even all pets, like for Locks and Unholy DKS.
just saying it is possible to solo if you cant get anyone to help =P but no. its nothing i recomend. why i even tryied to solo her was cause i did have 100 scrolls and absolutley nothing to do.
Elph,
The silithid wasps ARE tamable now. I don’t know when it happened, but check the Petopia wasp page. They look AWESOME, and they maintain their pre-taming size, which makes them about as big as a gorilla…only flying! They have some cool animations, BUT they make a much harsher buzzing sound than the Zangara wasps, which is a pain. I love the look, hate the noise.
My bad! I thought the Sholazar wasps used the same model as the Silithid wasps, which they do not. Sholwasps are tameable, Silithid are not.
Just a question ;)
is the real annoying BUG with the “Pet-Dance” fixed?
The one, where the pet is dancing around the target instead of attacking it – and aggroing each and every mob in the region…
Yes it’s an old bug, Blizzard should have a solution by now *eg*
eh idk i stopped useing eagles n corehounds cuz of that :(
long live the lightning god dragon :D
Pet Dancing is a huge problem still. I find it happening ALOT with Raiju (Gezz). Not sure if its cause of the currently buggy nature or what. =/
