Ghost Croc, Crocoslime & Hydradile

Mania & CrocoslimeDo you remember that presumed bug back in beta that let hunters tame a ghostly crocolisk, plus a ghostly hydra and an ooze that thought they were crocs?

Yeah, well … apparently it never got fixed.

That’s me there with my new pet “crocoslime”, who is as yet unnamed. Isn’t he just soooo adorable?

The Pets

All three pets — the ghostly crocolisk, the hydra, and the ooze — believe that they are crocolisks. Before you name them, their default name is Crocolisk. Like crocolisks, they eat meat and fish, they have Tenacity talents, and their family skill is Bad Attitude.

I haven’t yet played enough with my slime to know if there are any other weirdnesses with these pets (other than their basic nature, of course), but that is always a possibility with something that seems unintended like this.

How to Get Them

In order to tame these three beasts, you need someone to summon them. They are summoned as part of the daily Oracle quest “A Cleansing Song” in Sholazar Basin.

In order to get to the daily quest, you first have to finish the entire Oracle/Frenzyheart quest chain that starts with “Playing Along” and ends with the group quest “A Hero’s Burden”. During “A Hero’s Burden”, you kill Artruis the Heartless, who forces you to choose whether you will align with the Oracles or the Frenzyheart Tribe. (You can change your mind in the future by attacking Artruis and choosing again.) Once you choose the Oracles, you can start their daily quests, including “A Cleansing Song”.

[edit] As pointed out in the comments, “A Cleansing Song” is randomly available, not available every day. I got it the first day so I didn’t realize that. Thanks to Behemot for the correction!

Or you can skip all that and just find someone to summon the beasts for you. Once they are summoned, they are tamed like any other creature. The spirits are non-elite and not immune to frost traps. Keep in mind, however, that all three spirits are level 80.

The crocolisk is the Spirit of Ha-Khalan and is summoned from the shores of River’s Heart. The hydra is the Spirit of Atha and is summoned from the shores of Bittertide Lake. And the ooze is the Spirit of Koosu and is summoned from the shores of the Wintergrasp River.

Vafrous & Franka the HydradileBy the way, my sincere thanks go out to Vafrous of the guild Ex Obscurum, who helped me with the nasty group quest in the chain not once but twice (after the first time bugged out and I had to log out to help the husband with a contract), and who also helped me tame my pretty slimer. For his pains he now has a “hydradile” named Franka. That’s him to the right.

Caution

And just to be clear: It is extremely likely that being able to tame these creatures is a bug and that Blizzard will fix this bug sooner or later. Since the ooze and hydra are not part of a normally tameable beast family (oozes aren’t even beasts!) it is quite possible that the existing tamed pets will be removed from any hunters that have them, or shapeshifted into a normal croc or something along those lines.

So tame these beasts if you want to, but don’t expect them to be permanent!

[edit] And .. err .. my apologies the the posters on my own forums, especially Kweri, who posted about this 5 days ago. *cough* I’m still kinda out of it after a week of leveling, I admit.

I’m 78….hopefully I can hit 80 before they hotfix ‘em untamable

  2. barnes - November 24th, 2008 @ 2:11 am EST

Wow. My hunter is still level 70. Gonna have to get him to 80 by next tuesday just to be sure, but this will be well worth it. =D

  3. Spirit Binder - November 24th, 2008 @ 4:35 am EST

    Shhhh Be very very quiet!

Don’t let Blizzard know or they will take them away :(

I am secretly dying to get the hydra version myself and leveling my little booty off in the hope that I too will be able to get him b4 he’s hot fixed away.

R.I.P. grim totem ghost wolf >.<

  4. Lilita - November 24th, 2008 @ 6:28 am EST

Yeah, I’m 1/4 of the way to 80, hopefully I can get there before they disappear. =)

  5. Crow - November 24th, 2008 @ 8:07 am EST

So what are you going to name him?

  6. Behemot - November 24th, 2008 @ 8:17 am EST

It sucks though, because the quest in question is one of 4 random daily quests offered by one of the Oracles. I’ve done dailies for that particular oracle 4 or 5 days now, and I still haven’t gotten it.

  7. Corwyn - November 24th, 2008 @ 8:29 am EST

Important question! Do that make that horrible crocolisk sound?

  8. Mania - November 24th, 2008 @ 9:01 am EST

Nope! They make their own horrible sounds. The hydra heads fight and screech, and the ooze burbles.

  9. Bradagore - November 24th, 2008 @ 9:27 am EST

The Win solution would be to make all three Spirit Beasts…

  10. Sancho - November 24th, 2008 @ 9:30 am EST

    Awsome, plain awsome.

  11. Tashi - November 24th, 2008 @ 10:51 am EST

    I’M WITH BRADAGORE.
They are Spirits, yes? Everyone loves them and wants to keep them, yes? So make them Spirit Beasts!! Please Blizz? ^_^

  12. Circie - November 24th, 2008 @ 12:34 pm EST

Spirit Beasts and Spirit oozes? Lol ^_^

Are the demon wolfs still tamable? The Vargul Blighthound from Zul’Drak? I’m gonna have to lvl a bit and bum a run off of some guildies if they are still tamable ;p

  13. Oturiel - November 24th, 2008 @ 12:46 pm EST

I would probably bounce around like a two-year-old on espresso if they made those three Spirit Beasts and changed all the demon-type hounds to Beasts. I’ve always wanted one of the demonhounds near Brill.

Early Winter’s Veil present, Blizz? PLEASE? ;)

  14. Gwelynora - November 24th, 2008 @ 12:50 pm EST

It would make many happy if they were changed to spirit beasts! I’ll never get my hunter to 80 before this is fixed, though.

  15. Berg - November 24th, 2008 @ 1:51 pm EST

Thank you for informing us. I’m way to low to tame these but I appreciate the heads up. You rock!

  17. Rancidmilkmonkey - November 24th, 2008 @ 3:20 pm EST

That is awesome, Mania. I will never make it to 80 before Bliz fixes it, but I can dream. Oturiel, you are not alone in wanting to tame those demons in brill. My first toon was a forsaken rogue I abondoned just so I could roll a hunter to go back and tame one of them. As you can imagine, I was really disappointed when I realized I could not tame them, but hey, I love my hunter! Luckytom ftw!

  18. Rikaku - November 24th, 2008 @ 3:38 pm EST

All these pets are cool, though I’d never tame them. I wouldn’t want them to be the new spirit beasts though. I want to see the entire Hydra family become tameable. The slimes are just kinda icky D=

  19. Aoirselvar - November 24th, 2008 @ 3:49 pm EST

So, I wonder if we can tame them then keep them after the bug gets fixed or if we tame them and lose them. Is it worth getting attached to that cute little pile of green ooze?

  20. Nachtwulf - November 24th, 2008 @ 5:06 pm EST

Nnnngh. I don’t know if I’m going to get to 80 by the time they fix this either. Grr. But I wantses hydraaaaa…. this is gonna be another ghost wolf, I just know it. :P

  21. Sario - November 24th, 2008 @ 5:21 pm EST

My hunter is only L24 :( but I would love an ooze pet. (I know, I’m weird.)

  22. Behemot - November 24th, 2008 @ 5:24 pm EST

Yay! I was offered the quest today and Behemot got his new pet (I’ll still want to use my precious gorilla though)

i don’t really care about the ooze but hydras would make SUCH a great cunning exotic family! i was shocked to find that they didn’t do that with the expansion. bliz, do us a flavor and give us cunning hydras? and maybe ptenacious pterrordaxes? (don’t really care if they’re tenacity or not but i thought it would be punny)

  24. Snowy - November 24th, 2008 @ 7:02 pm EST

Well in the past Blizz didn’t remove the ghost wolf spirit pets, so i say lvl 80 now and tame them now! God! why didn’t i buy the expansion yet!? waaaaaaa :’(

  25. Snowy - November 24th, 2008 @ 7:11 pm EST

I also just checked the forums right now. NO ONE SAY ANYTHING! WOULD PROABALY TAKE THEM 2 WEEKS TO FIGURE THIS OUT OR MORE! THEN I CAN LEVEL TO 80!

  26. hyena84 - November 24th, 2008 @ 9:22 pm EST

hmm.as much as i would kill for that ooze pet.i dont think i could get to 80 and tame one befor they got nurfed.thought a tankooze would be cool…

  27. Rottingham - November 24th, 2008 @ 9:56 pm EST

Yeah, I’ve got 5 more levels to go and then I will have a precious Ooze… Also Mania i found something on petopia. Just a typo I’m sure, But the Sapphire Hive Drones are not lvl 75 :(

  28. Rottingham - November 24th, 2008 @ 9:59 pm EST

Wow, Just looking back on that last comment sounded really rude, I appologize.

  29. Rottingham - November 24th, 2008 @ 10:06 pm EST

Also (Sorry for having three comments in a row :P) but I thought Blizz said that they came out with somesort of new pet system. I think it would be awesome if in some random patches they make a new exotic pet without any warning, and I am always beast-loreing everything just incase (Gotta have a Tripod!)

  30. Naham - November 24th, 2008 @ 10:50 pm EST

Well, they did not take Ghostwolves back from hunters who had already tamed them because it was a challenge and not an easy thing to do so, but here you just have to be 80 and get the appropriate daily quest to tame them. If they are patching this say bye bye to ooze and hydra and hello to croco which will take it place automatically..

  31. Gurluas - November 25th, 2008 @ 12:30 am EST

If they remove it they will probably make them untameable and remove the “crocolisk” tag so it wont be part of a family, sort of like the zul’gurub serpents once they accidently were tameable.

  32. JayCanuck - November 25th, 2008 @ 2:57 am EST

I just went to the Oracle area. A Cleansing Song was not available. Is it a revered-available quest?

  33. Mania - November 25th, 2008 @ 3:07 am EST

JayCanuck: Turns out it’s one of several daily quests that you can get randomly. I didn’t realize that, but Behemot pointed it out. I’ve updated the post with that info.

  34. JayCanuck - November 25th, 2008 @ 3:08 am EST

Update: I think [A Cleansing Song] is 1 of 4 possible dailies given by the NPC. Hopefully [A Cleansing Song] will be available before Blizz hotfixes it

  35. JayCanuck - November 25th, 2008 @ 3:08 am EST

    lol, Mania, you’re fast

  36. snowyjoe - November 25th, 2008 @ 4:56 am EST

In the past, has blizzrad EVAR removed a pet that wasn’t supposed to be tamed?

I can’t remember, but i don’t think so. Would this be the first time they do it? My guess is, not a huge population is even lvl 80 yet. I think it would be a really cool idea to let the people that tame them keep them as a reward? for being lvl 80 at the right time? Or somthing along those lines.

  37. Crow - November 25th, 2008 @ 5:09 am EST

snowyjoe - Yes they have. The hotfixed out the ghost wolf from a quest and set a wind serpent to be unable to feed, thus eventually going to lose loyalty and run away!

  38. snowyjoe - November 25th, 2008 @ 5:22 am EST

    nooooooo :’(

  39. snowyjoe - November 25th, 2008 @ 5:23 am EST

Sorry for commenting alot but, they tried to remove the serpant by not being able to feed it right? That means blizz acturally dosn’t have the power to completly remove a pet from a hunter. And since theres no more pey loyalty………………… The ooze stays!?

  40. Rilgon - November 25th, 2008 @ 5:52 am EST

*adds “tame a ****ing ooze, badass” to list of reasons to rush for 80*

  41. Clawclaw - November 25th, 2008 @ 5:54 am EST

Strangely enough, I was wondering about these three “pets” yesterday before seeing this o_O I think when word gets out, Blizzard will “fix” them asap.

Didn’t they also remove an already-bugged quest Ravager in the Draenei starting zone that couldn’t be fed by making all new ones untameable too?
And those ZA bears on the PTR… did they just vanish from hunters when they “fixed” them, or did they stay for the rest of the PTR?

  42. Lilita - November 25th, 2008 @ 9:40 am EST

Previously not-supposed-to-be-tamable pets: ZG serpents. They let hunters keep these, but they made them unfeedable, so for the most part they had to stay stabled. Ghost wolves: They let hunters keep these. They said they’d let hunters continue to tame them, but then they did a switch and hotfixed them so that they were untamable.

Hopefully they’ll let people who tamed these keep them. The ooze… I dunno, they might remove that one, but the hydra I don’t see any reason to remove since it’s a beast.

  43. Namaria - November 25th, 2008 @ 10:34 am EST

Everyone keeps talking about ZG serpents that were once tamable and then made untamable. Those Hunters that had one were unable to feed them.

But the only serpents I can find in ZG are the ones that ARE tamable and have been for quite some time now. So which ones is everyone talking about??

  44. Elenion - November 25th, 2008 @ 10:52 am EST

Even if you were unable to feed those snakes, you were able to gain happiness through wsg rune buff

  45. Gurluas - November 25th, 2008 @ 11:15 am EST

They made them untameable and changed the species from windserpent to the yet unexisting “Serpent” specie.
Which means you could not feed it but you still kept it.

  46. Mania - November 25th, 2008 @ 11:16 am EST

Namaria: Way back before the Burning Crusade expansion, serpents were not a tameable pet family. But for a short time, hunters could tame the Sandfury Guardian in Zul’Farrak. It was classified as a wind serpent but looked just as it does now.

Then Blizzard fixed the wild ones so they could not be tamed and made the ones that were already tamed unable to be fed. Some hunters stashed theirs in the stable and only brought it out for very special occasions; others found that they could refresh its happiness via battlegrounds but still had to be very, very careful with it.

And then … Blizzard added the serpent family. And you could tame not just Sandfury Guardians again, but all the other serpents also. And the whole incident faded into ancient WoW history. :>

  47. Farseer Lolotea - November 25th, 2008 @ 3:05 pm EST

Making all of them Spirit Beasts would be one solution.  However, I’d rather just see hydras added to exotics.  (And basilisks and pterrordax—if I’ve said it once, I’ve said it twenty times—added to the normal list.)

And yeah, changing the creature type on darkhounds from “demon” to “beast” would be appropriate.  I don’t know what it is, but they don’t come off as demons.  (They seem to have more in common with wolves than felhounds…they even seem to drop the various sorts of wolf meat when killed.  IMO, they should all be beasts, and tameable as “wolves.”  Then again, I want a blue one for my draenei hunter.)

  48. Akussa - November 25th, 2008 @ 3:07 pm EST

Well here’s a thought about this bug if they ever made it so that you cannot feed the pets anymore. Now there are talents you can use the increase pet happiness and a glyph you can use. One of the talents increases on pet fighting, one on healing the pet and the glyph is also for healing the pet. I rarely carry food these days due to these lovelies. I just kick on aspect of the viper and go to town with mend pet.

  49. Wain - November 25th, 2008 @ 7:07 pm EST

It always seems a bit strange to me when people imply Blizzard would be mean in removing a pet that is (i) obviously a mistake, and (ii) not even logically a tameable creature. These beings are supposed to be powerful, named spirits, not animals. Taming them would make no more sense than turning the ghost of your dead grandmother into your personal retriever. Don’t we roll hunters for the fun of the animal companion? How quickly did that get boring for people that need to tame something that isn’t even an animal? Don’t get me wrong, if I had a hunter at that level I’d probably try to tame one too for the sheer silliness of it, but I’d fully expect (and indeed hope) for it to be fixed soon after.

  50. Lilita - November 25th, 2008 @ 9:03 pm EST

Wain: I can understand your point in regards to the slime, but people have wanted hydras to be tamable for quite a long while, and they -are- beasts, they’re just not tamable yet. It’s perfectly reasonable for people to want to tame a hydra, be it a ghost or not.

  51. snowyjoe - November 25th, 2008 @ 10:27 pm EST

The reason why people are going phyco about this every time is because, it’S new! It’s new! Not many people have it, and it might only be the only time we can tame them.
It’s just the same as people buying the Collectors Edition of WoW because it’s limited edition and it has lots of cool stuff in it that you might not be able to get, ever!

  52. Paidan - November 26th, 2008 @ 1:17 pm EST

If the crocs are called crocolisks, shouldn’t the hydra one be called a hydralisk (woo Starcraft nerd)? If this stays available by the time I get to 80, I am definatly taming one and naming it that!

  53. Jin - November 26th, 2008 @ 2:36 pm EST

Does anyone know if these are still tameable after todays maintenance? I can’t check myself since iI never seem to get the right quest.

  54. Mania - November 26th, 2008 @ 3:44 pm EST

*nod* I happened to get this quest today, and I tested the slime — still tameable.

  56. SilkFairy - November 26th, 2008 @ 5:43 pm EST

God damn it, im only level 25, i have like no chance of getting this pet.. hopefully blizz doesnt hear of it for the next 4 months or so.. ^^

  57. Jin - November 26th, 2008 @ 7:17 pm EST

Thats great news, thanks for sharing! Now I just have to hope for the right quest!

  58. John - November 26th, 2008 @ 10:31 pm EST

Are these pets every going to get added to petopia in the retired section at some point?

  59. Izsera - November 27th, 2008 @ 12:45 am EST

Oh good, I’m so glad they’re still tameable, I’ve been rushing towards 80 the past couple of days, I really really want that hydra!

I don’t expect that they’ll be changed into regular crocolisks, that would be a little weird, but they probably will become untameable soon. On the other hand, Blizz has changed the looks of pets that were already tamed in the past–Araga’s tail stripes, and the cats from Winterspring, can’t think of any others off the top of my head though. But those changes applied to the pets in the wild, too… /stops babbling

  60. Lilita - November 27th, 2008 @ 8:10 am EST

Whew, we finally had A Cleansing Song as today’s daily, and I managed to get the hydra about… 4 minutes before the server went down for rolling restarts!

I don’t think they scanned through their database changing the model/skin of particular player pets. Just changed the model in the game files, right?

I don’t think blizzard likes playing with player data.

  63. Gurluas - November 27th, 2008 @ 11:24 am EST

The araga thing was merely fixing a bug on a skin.

  64. Izsera - November 27th, 2008 @ 2:22 pm EST

I have the daily (well, hubby does), and I’m one bubble into 79.

Hoping that the restarts didn’t do anything to em. <.<

And yeah, I think it was just changing thos creatures entirely, not just hunter-tamed ones–on the other hand, a lot of people were upset when Araga lost her stripes, so I figured it was kind of relevant. I wonder, though, if they wanted to turn the tamed ones into crocolisks if they’d have to change the quest mobs as well. Ehh too much leveling, brain hurts, need to go make more xp….

    Got my Hydra tonight. :)

Her name is Sassy, and her other heads are Nibbles and Bits.

  66. Thorkas - November 28th, 2008 @ 5:31 am EST

    @Izsera
The other heads have names too!
    That cracked me up.

I got mine last night to alleviate the Loque frustration for a bit (I’ve not even seen his corpse after close to 10 days of camping, grrrr!).
This hydra must be the most annoying pet ever. It stomps like a Core Hound, the three heads fight constantly when idle (with much noise).

All in all, a fun and special pet. I hope Blizz doesn’t nick it out of my stables when they decide to nerf this :)

The slime is a bit silly really, but the others look like viable hunter pets.
And as for them actually being spirits or gods? As far as I know, so is Loque’Nahak, or at least Loque’s mate is :P

  71. karma - November 30th, 2008 @ 10:32 am EST

I got the hydra this morning. He is gorgeous! And since I have a ghost saber, I see no problem in letting us tame and keep these beasts. We are hunters playing in a magical universe–we have spells and abilities that partake of arcane knowledge. We use magical energy (mana), so let us have some spirits and demons as pets. Now for a name….

  72. Sheiko - November 30th, 2008 @ 1:12 pm EST

GOT MY HYDRA AND SLIME TODAY xD really happy cause i hit lvl 80 yesterday and they didnt have quest i was afraid it wouldnt pop up until they nerfed it for us…. now i just need a name for my slime and all 3 heads of my hydra >.<

  73. Izsera - November 30th, 2008 @ 4:57 pm EST

Has anyone tamed the ghost croc or are we all just going for hydras and slimes?

I was thinking I might grab one to hang onto while I still have an empty stable slot, I know it’s less likely to become untamable than the other two but then again they might just change all three, and I enjoy having uncommon pets. =D

theres a lot here about teh hydra and slime but I couldnt see any mention of the actual croc you can tame from that quest or the fact that is see-thru like the ghost saber. Hopefully blizz will be real nice to us and allow us to keep them as they are, got my slime and hydra now so i’m a happy little hunter

    /grin

  78. Zyroos - December 2nd, 2008 @ 12:15 am EST

ye, i recon these pets will be another ghost wolf story, not that im complaining, got my hydra(legiion) the other day, love the sound efects. drives my guildis crazy on raids, and the slime well im a guy and its a giant blob of moving , fighting slime.. no more needs to be said there :P

  79. JayCanuck - December 2nd, 2008 @ 3:34 pm EST

I have both the Hydra and Ooze on my hunter. I’m probably gonna get rid of the Hydra. It’s just too damn annoying with its constant sound effects and constantly fighting heads. It was real cool at first, but now it’s like “please, for the love of god, shut up!”. I can’t see myself seriously using it long-term; too damn annoying. Besides, I really wanna tame that purple/pink chimera in Netherstorm and my stables are full.

  80. snowyjoe - December 3rd, 2008 @ 2:40 am EST

anyone know if theri still tameable after todays maintain? Or yesterday what ever~~~~

  81. Mania - December 3rd, 2008 @ 11:39 am EST

snowyjoe: They still Beast Lore as tameable as of this morning. (Now that I’m revered with the Oracles and can buy Mysterious Eggs, I’m keeping the quest in my log instead of turning it in so I can always check.)

  82. snowyjoe - December 4th, 2008 @ 3:05 am EST

    Thank you Mania! Love you!

  83. Lilita - December 5th, 2008 @ 8:40 pm EST

You might check if they’re tamable after the rolling restarts, my stable appears to have bugged, copied my wolf when I tried switching to my ooze, and deleting my ooze when I tried re-switching.

  84. Lilita - December 5th, 2008 @ 10:51 pm EST

Update on the disappearing Ooze, he reappeared later. Evil buggy stables!

  85. Azbulldog - December 6th, 2008 @ 11:17 pm EST

The daily finally appeared today. With my Oracle friend I tamed the hydra, the ooze is ugly. :P
The hydra does a knock back that will break taming casts, and the cast would also break when my friend had aggro on him, I had to aggro and freeze him so I wouldn’t get knocked back, but all in all it was easy. Much easier than the ghost wolf.

  86. Rilgon - December 8th, 2008 @ 3:16 am EST

Still tameable as of 2:16 AM CST, 12/08/08. :)

  87. snowyjoe - December 8th, 2008 @ 5:11 am EST

I saw these 3 on petopia today. Anyone know what blizz are thinking of these pets? Does it mean they might stay for a while Mania? Since you updated them into the petopia gallery thing?

  88. Mania - December 8th, 2008 @ 10:36 am EST

    Rilgon: Thanks for the update.

snowyjoe: No idea what Blizzard is thinking. I was getting enough questions that I wanted them on Petopia, though, so I just threw them into all the normal places.

  89. Silverline - December 8th, 2008 @ 5:40 pm EST

I’m actually surprised how many people DON’T know about this… at least on my server. Of course, I try too keep up on all things hunter, but I was still surprised to see not a slime or Ghost Hydra about. However, after informing on of my Hunter guildies, he instantly had me go out and summon both Hydra and Slime for him, taming them both and showing it off to a paladin buddy of ours, who was downright surprised.

  90. Mania - December 8th, 2008 @ 5:42 pm EST

When I have my slime with me, I often have Alliance hunters come up to me and start talking gibberish and waving their hands madly (emoting), but there’s not a lot I can do to explain the slime that way.

  91. snowyjoe - December 9th, 2008 @ 11:09 pm EST

Lol sorry to keep on coming back, but can anyone update if theri still tameable?

  92. Jelaniana - December 10th, 2008 @ 4:19 pm EST

Yes they are tamable, just got mine yesterday

If theres any hunter on Runetotem who wants any of these summoned. I am keeping the quest in my log. :) Not charging anyone anything, just send me a tell or mail and I will head over there when I have a moment to summon any of them. Horde or alliance, I dont care. :) Just would like to help people get one of these cool pets if possible

  93. Flinkbaum - December 11th, 2008 @ 7:03 am EST

    Going nuts on Staghelm.

Every day I wake up ridiculously early to discover that it’s the wrong daily, yet again. Every day I save my Oracle dailies until just before I go to bed at night, in the hopes that they’ll be reset during the day by some lucky server crash or rolling restart. And paranoia keeps telling me that if and when Blizzard gets around to making these untameable, their first step will be to not tell anyone but just take the Cleansing daily out of the rotation.

I want my new pet, just so I can stop thinking about it! *^_^*

  94. Dweezill - December 14th, 2008 @ 5:56 pm EST

OK, I need some help on this one. I keep telling everybody on my server about this, and they think I am crazy. The daily hasn’t come up in days, and I am finally level 80, so i wanna get these things. If anybody on my server has the quest in their quest log, and is willing to help me out,I would appreciate it. Here are my details….. and I will probably be on the rest of today (Sunday, December 14th) and tomorrow (Monday, December 15th).

    Toon Name: Dweezill
    Server: Sargeras

If you are on the Sargeras serve, i would relaly appreciate the help. Thanks.

  95. snowyjoe - December 14th, 2008 @ 7:56 pm EST

Did blizzard remove the daily? Or are some people just unlucky?

  96. Dweezill - December 14th, 2008 @ 10:25 pm EST

I am hoping I am unlucky. I saw it when I was level 77-78, but that was quite a few days ago… probably closer to a week. and I have been keeping my eye on it. It hasn’t been back up for quite a while now. I am off work tomorrow, so i may come on when the dailies reset to see if it comes up. Anybody know what kind of a rotation the dailies are on. I know this guy gives 4 different ones, and it has been more than 4 days since i saw the Cleansing Song quest. Is it random or is a set pattern. anybody know anything?

  97. Flinkbaum - December 15th, 2008 @ 2:11 am EST

It’s completely random. And still hasn’t come up on Staghelm. I’ll be Exalted with the Oracles soon, and still haven’t gotten the quest, or found anyone while spamming on /general that has ‘A Cleansing Song.’

    I am sad.

  98. Dweezill - December 15th, 2008 @ 12:57 pm EST

    I feel ya.

  99. Dweezill - December 16th, 2008 @ 9:42 pm EST

It is up on Sargeras today and thery are still tamable. i have all three but will be getting rid of the ghost croc.

  100. Flinkbaum - December 17th, 2008 @ 10:41 am EST

I finally got A Cleansing Song too. I was surprised at how much the Hydra and Ooze shrink after being tamed.

Not sure if anyone else has said it, but for those wondering: once you have the quest, you get an item that allows you to summon the appropriate mob, if you are in the appropriate area. The areas themselves are quite large. The mob summons instantly, and will be instantly aggressive to the summoner. The item that summons the mob works instantly, but has a two-minute cooldown. As long as you keep the quest, you keep the item.

I would have thought the Hydra would be my favourite, but of the three I think it’s my least favourite now that I’ve used them. Noises aside, the ghost croc is less odd and ponderous (the hyrda always seems to lean to the side,) and the little ooze is comically cute zipping around with charge and intervene.

  101. snowyjoe - December 19th, 2008 @ 6:06 pm EST

Yep they havn’t removed the daily and it’s still tameable.

I’m surprised blizz hasn’t done anything about this…. looking at the forums i see no blue posts, and looking at the PTR patch i still havn’t seen any bug fix on these pets.
They acturally might make it a proper pet 0.o

If anyone on the PTR is able to get this quest, could someone check if their tameable there?

  102. Mania - December 19th, 2008 @ 6:54 pm EST

I just tested them on the PTR (build 9386) and the hydra and slime, at least, can still be tamed.

  103. Pedro - December 20th, 2008 @ 12:27 am EST

I just tamed both hydra and ooze, I really prefer the hydra, I like the animation on it (the head constantly fighting each other, really nice to login and see my hunter with it in the background ^^) but the screech it makes every 5 seconds is kind of annoying ^^

  104. Choo - December 21st, 2008 @ 12:29 am EST

Just a thought but going with the whole “Can’t feed a pet and it runs away” thing, if you have a Glyph of Mend Pet, you can just spam that until your pet becomes happy.

Thats what I do so I don’t have to waste money on food. 8D

  105. John - December 25th, 2008 @ 3:59 pm EST

Or Carrion Feeder? That restores Happiness.
4 weeks now, keep getting Song of Fecundity and Song of Wind and Water :S

  106. Wolfington - January 11th, 2009 @ 10:05 am EST

I tamed the Ooze and the Hydra after many days of “Is the patch tomorow? Is it going to be removed? WHen am I going to get that stuped daily?!!”. Needless to say I love my Hydra (Named Seamist, although I am going to rename him.) THe sounds don’t bother me, usualy I have music on anyway so I don’t notice.

I’ve been wondering, anyone have the “problem” where the hydra can attack an enemie from much farther away then a normal pet? He doesn’t seem to have to move towards casters that are 5 or 6 yards away. Hmm. Not that big a problem, really, but interesting.

Still thinking of a name for the Ooze! I don’t think there are any mythical piles of goo, are there? :-)

  107. thtswatshesd - January 14th, 2009 @ 7:41 pm EST

I wish i could tame these pets!!!

please blizz make them spearit beasts!!!

  108. Mizuko - February 12th, 2009 @ 11:33 am EST

As of patch 3.0.8, these pets are no longer tameable, as well as Gezzark the Huntress. Since I’m the worst Hunter ever, and no one on the Azjol-Nerub server ever tames anything but gorillas or wolves, I don’t know if you got to keep these beasties prior to the patching.

I know, because I did everything to get to the quest to tame the Hydra, (after spending an hour or so to try to get enough Time-Lost scrolls to summon Gezz), and I got the ol’ red message of doom: “creature not tameable.”

  109. emrsonbigins - March 5th, 2009 @ 3:36 pm EST

Tamed my ooze before 3.0.8. Name . . . “OozeYerDaddy”
