Mania…I think the Devilsaur is broken a lil lol…I got some of the new pets and went to quel with them to test them and out of all of them (even my old pets) the devilsaur just couldnt keep aggro…something wrong?
Just thought id bring it to your attention..night everyone.
Even if you turn cower off autocast stableing your pet, using a portal, or hearthing resets that :/ make sure to check cower after any of those activities.
ah, spamming the google search button did the trick. :) No, really. Congrats. Possible to have a new topic - things other than cower broken with the new patch?
hey guys I just got on 3.0 and I got my pet talent tree….charge is really cool, but that’s beside the point, I have a cat named ferocity and I can’t find him anywhere? any suggestions? and big grats on google mania :D
Congrats Mania… I for one must be pushing out works bandwidth alone with spamming petopia and arcania… haha… although it could be a close run for allakhazam also…
Thanks for all your hard work on getting all the info together - I’ve been a longtime fan of your work and to confirm someones statement above… yes you are massive in europe… (Ireland here)
As far as your devilsaur not holding aggro, yea make sure cower isn’t on autocast. My serpent is only level 65 and he holds aggro like a champ as long as I let him regain some focus.
Serage: I think you mean turn “Cower” off. Turning Growl won’t let the Devilsaur keep aggro. I’m not too won over by Devilsaurs or Corehounds like I once was, though I cannot deny the Devilsaur’s crazy dps. I think despite what Ghostcrawler said, Blizzard did in fact create that “one pet” when it came to doing damage. All the other exotics would probably be more desirable if they had a damage output like the Devilsaur, but that’s just me.
I gotta say, watching a Devilsaur eating my enemies in PvP was pretty awesome though. I may keep him just for that XD
My Devilsaur holds aggro like crazy. I may pull it once but he’s right back on it when I do and aggro is restored to him. Heck I took out Tusker that level 68 elite Elekk with ease >>;;;;;;; heh
Though I’m a bit sad that I lost all my extra HP in the patch XD I went to be a full BM opposed to the BM/Survival talent tree I was using before. As far as the Disappearing cat, send a Ticket to the GM. They will tell you to do an interface restore. I forgot all the mechanics of how that is done so it’s best to just ticket a GM and they will explain things to you. What happens is you HAVE your pet, but it’s not showing up in the game for you. I had this happen with one of the 70 Ravagers that used to be tamed and are no longer. It had CLONED itself in place of Valansi my Ghost Saber. And when I went back Valansi was gone but I still had the Ravager and Long >_>;;;;;;; Freaked me out and I had the GM help me. And he spoiled Valansi by giving that cat Fish treats! XD
Also, a question: Do devilsaurs have the highest DPS out of all of the other pets? I’m considering whether I want a devilsaur as my fifth pet or get Readiness from the MM tree and tame a raptor… tough decision I think.
Do we know yet if the special abilities each pet has are affective against bosses? For example, will my new core hound be able to slow the spell casting of Shade of Aran?
Since Shade is immune to Curse of Tongues, silence, and mind numbing poison, he would most likely also be immune to the slowing effects of the corehound’s double breath. The pet abilities would probably have the same limitations as to similar debuffs when it comes to bosses.
I actually had a nice hunter lead me to my Black Devilsaur. He had one of his own in tow, so Either he was holding out for a different color, or was simply a good samaritan. I’m absolutely loving Silithids, but I’ve been camping Silithid Ravager since the patch with no success. =(
(He’s the Bronze colored one)
Any one know when/if Blizz is gonna convert the Azeroth Wasps to be tameable? I want Quirot(sp?) the White Wasp. ^_^
Yeah he is still at 65 but what I was saying is that my newely caught core hound has no problems holding aggro. I also have fully trained my devilsaur and thats why I was wondering what was up.
To whomever was asking, I believe that yes, Devilsaurs do have the highest dps. I really like the Corehound look, but as for how much I like it, well I gotta try it out somemore.
Anyone having a hard time choosing pet talents? My god they’re all so fun =D I think for once though I may not take obra reflexes since the spell pushback effect has been seriously nerfed and I may swap out Dash for Charge whenever my Ferocity pets receive their Charge back.

Never heard of her, but there you go, Amy Sedaris. XD
For all you Americans, just to let you know we here in the UK are now feeling the love of not being able to log on - same crap one day later… kind of like the credit crunch…
Define highest DPS…. if your talking about numbers, then monstrous bite increases the devilsaurs DPS by 9% after three usages, or 21 seconds for a longevity specced beast master, and also deals damage. The wolfs furious howl increases its AND your DPS by 10% and STAYS up, BUT deals no damage. The cats rake ability deals roughly 170 at 70, then ticks for around 125 every three seconds for nine seconds. Longevity might actually lose out here, since it will reset the damage at 7 seconds, just after the second tick, BUT it will do its full rake damage again, resulting in overall more damage, and since it resets the timer, but not the duration, the next tick will be at 2 seconds instead of 3.
For something surprising, if you let a scorpids poison get up to five stacks, it’ll deal around 500 every 3 seconds if your fully BM specced at seventy.
Yeah the patch seem somewhat rushed to me. cower and other spells turning emselves back on auto after porting and such is really annoying.
Pet wise i ran to get a chimera just to discover the breath attack got a way big nerf and caused the pet to stop, move, stop, move, stop until he was in range to fire it (also the pet itself dident do to great.(not at 65 atleast)). so for now that attack is only good for slowing down people in wsg.
Corehounds got the same prob with their breath. but at least it hits for more than the chimeras breath.
so far ive found devilsaurs and silithids to be great dsp machines. it also looks like windserpents do massive damage. a friends WS hit my 69 alt for 3,6k….
i was just about to go test a wurm when the stupid driver to my screencard went nuts and i had to restart, upgraded the driver and now my WoW lags quite bad…..
so…trying to fix compy up before going back to test the wurm, wasps, spiders, snakes and sporebats..and more if i got the interest.
Even with Cower off, I’m having trouble getting Frostmaw (my bear with maxed out growl, aggro, taunt talents) to keep aggro. Granted, Chimera Shot (with talented up Serpent Sting) hits like a bus, but unless he ONLY has Growl on, he can’t keep aggro, and that’s a new phenomenon.
I wouldn’t be surprised if the pet talents aren’t all working properly for all pets.
I’ve noticed that growl has a high chance of missing if the pet is around 5 levels lower than target. My Devilsaur holds aggro really well against a level 64 (his level) enemy, somewhat well on a level 68, and a little poorly (though not bad) on a level 69.
For me, my ferocity pets have been holding aggro better than tenacity. I’m sure at level 80 (and when my pets are level 80) tenacity will hold aggro far better, but as long as growl keeps missing often, it seems like high damage = high threat = better aggro.
Once I hit 70 (69) I’m gonna focus on training my pets to 70 and test it further.
Finally! News that I’ve been waiting for. It’s about time. From Ghost Crawler even. Exotics are a little special. 10% increase.
10% increase in what? Damage? Defense? Health? All? I might have to reconsider my tenacity pet now…was going with Gorilla but might want a Worm.
Behemot: A 10% increase in special attack, which would be damage. It’s good to hear that Exotics get a bit more love, that way the BM talent does feel like the 51 point it should feel like. And it’s not such a large number that non-BM’s should complain about BM favoritism.
The patch does feel rushed to me. I’d like to see Blizzard take more time to bug check new content than scamper to turn out content that is buggy or poorly implemented, even if it is on time. But the patch doesnt seem too bugged to me - a few people unable to access their banks or retrieve mounts or pets. It’s being resolved, so I’m free to start my foray into the world of pets I never owned.
Anyone else a bit annoyed with the hunters who think it’s funny to stand their enormous new pets over NPCs?
blacksting seems to be suffering from ex-casteritis or something. His stats are par for his level but he has less paperdoll dps then the other tenacity pets
i cant seem to find how to get there on google yet but all the same gratz
i tamed blacksting in live (ditced humar since every 1 out of 5 hunters had him) and im really shure his armour reduction is good for raiding whiel staking with sunder armour. i also got naxaries the red rare spider in duskwood after 4 1/2 hours of camping but boy was she worth it. on the devilsaur thing i really do whant one but it seems a shame to pass up 2 shots with no ammo/colldown/mana use so i gotta stay servival and wouldnt knwo about devislaur agro sorry i couldnt help much.
all pets were tested at 65, with the same gear, with the same beast spec, after dismissing and resummoning twice just to make sure all the kinks were out
*i’ve tried blacksting, umbraglow, bogflare needler, marshlight (haven’t tried any of the silithid type)
*Chuckles* Anyone who comes to Petopia a lot knew of the quality of it long ago. It is, however, nice to see Mania finally getting some recognition for her hard work.
I was noticing some aggro issues with my Devilsaur and my newly tamed Gorilla. Granted, I was up at the Shattered Sun area and they’re both level 65, but even still I’d have thought they’d hold better, particularly the Gorilla. Maybe they’re not quite done messing around with pet talents on my server.
You know I gotta admit I am guilty of using Google to find Petopia these past few days, if only because I can never, ever remember how to spell “brashendevors”. Did I even get that right? Probably not =P I really need to work on my spelling.
A lot of cats have been auto-prowling, including mine! Quite bothersome for us cat hunters.
Anyway, grats Mania! This has got to make you feel good about what you do! :D :D :D

Wow mania…congrats!
Wow, isn’t that supremely creepy?

Just thought id bring it to your attention..night everyone.
Shadowkaizen: Did you level your Dveilsaur to level 70 first? Or is it still level 65 and your hoping it will hold aggro?
Forgot, grats on getting to top 4 mania!!!
/Bow
You deserve it (and you’re a hot trend in Europe too, don’t you worry).
Shadowkaizen you did level the pet and train it right (talents)? they have a talent tree now. if you did it is probably as BM4Life says - too young.
some servers are still bouncing… oh well.
grats Mania on the google lookup status. you can’t hide now…
Shadowkaizen, are you sure that cower isn’t on? It can be on autocast even if it’s not on your pet bar.
And congrats, Mania!
Even if you turn cower off autocast stableing your pet, using a portal, or hearthing resets that :/ make sure to check cower after any of those activities.
Lol, I had to google “lexicon of power” myself to see what it was… found it a somewhat creepy search entry :P
2 out of top 5, wow really is a scary power factor!
And Mania, well and truly earned, a steady source of all information, even for part-time hunters as myself.
Grats Mania! A tribute to all your hard work!
Grats! Sexy as always. <3 I know I was at least one of your hits. lol
LOL. Your work has only just begun Mania
ah, spamming the google search button did the trick. :) No, really. Congrats. Possible to have a new topic - things other than cower broken with the new patch?

Congrats Mania… I for one must be pushing out works bandwidth alone with spamming petopia and arcania… haha… although it could be a close run for allakhazam also…

Grats on the top five :D
Core hounds are sick. Those things stomping around Orgrimmar rock.
Grats.
Yeah, as far as the devilsaur not holding aggro, I picked one up and he does fine. Just turn growl off.
Aren’t gorillas just the coolest thing ever now? Farming just got a hell of a lot easier and quicker. XD
I agree that this patch felt a tad rushed.

Who the hell is Amy Sedaris?
But gratz on all the success yo
Gratz! Sadly Im not with the 3.0 yet, My computer is stuck in a start up loop and having to take it to the pple to fix it 3:< Is it what i expect?

I love my white Devilsaur. I love his Epic DpS too! Totally. And I don’t see how this much needed patch was “rushed”.
Gratz, this is very deserved :)
Congrats! :)

@Mania:
The title should read “Petopia invades the internet” ^^
Wow…I love this patch. Hyenas are amazing. I have one for fun name “WhySoSerious” cause of that maniacal grin the hyenas have.
Do we know yet if the special abilities each pet has are affective against bosses? For example, will my new core hound be able to slow the spell casting of Shade of Aran?

You’ll still be able to nether shock him, as long as he hasn’t silenced your nether ray.
Got a black devilsaur this morning :) I was surprised I wasn’t fighting 60 hunters to tame him, but there he was, looking for a home :D
I actually had a nice hunter lead me to my Black Devilsaur. He had one of his own in tow, so Either he was holding out for a different color, or was simply a good samaritan. I’m absolutely loving Silithids, but I’ve been camping Silithid Ravager since the patch with no success. =(

To all the people concerned about pet aggro, a lot of pets seem to be auto-casting Cower, in my experience >.>
ryan92084 - I seem to have the same reduced DPS with my own Wasp pet. Hopefully it’s in error and will be fixed.
