Beasthunter: Your long comments are welcome here! :> Excitement is good, and this is really cool information.

You may also want to check out the forums -- we get some good theorycrafting and testing back and forth there. But you are always welcome to post comments here regardless.

After reading Lienna`s Log about Cunning pets, I thought I would explore one of the thoughts that were mentioned, what would a beast mastery cunning pets damage look like under the right circumstances.

I took into account the Feeding Frenzy and Cornered talents, and tamed a 70 sporebat from HC, UB. After speccing my pet with Feeding Freny, Cornered, and Wolverine Bite I took him to the IF heroic training dummy, where I could test out the damage of a BM wolverine bite under the "perfect" circumstances.

I burned my pet to a crisp until he was below 35% health so it would gain the Cornered buff. The heroic target dummy was below 35% health, so it also gained the FF buff.I timed everything just right, popping a bladesfist trinket (Don`t have the greatest gear :( ) BW,put on Aspect of the Beast and Kill Command.Forcing the dummy the dodge, I allowed my pet to perform Wolverine Bite with KC`s first charge (60% increased damage for a pets special attack, in this case WB)

My 70 sporebat crit the heroic training dummy for 2694 damage! This simple test was created under the "perfect" circumstances I could make for Wolverine Bite.Another few tests showed that under the same buffs Wolverine bite hit for around 1.6 K on average. So even if it was not a crit, it opened up for some great burst damage, espicially when its coming from a pet!

I am not bragging about the damage I made my pet do (I certainly hope it`s not sounding like it) but after reading Lienna`s Log on Cunning Pets, I had to create to the best of my ability what Lienna described in that blog.A BW`d kill commanded, all those other awesome buffs Wolverine Bite.

I hope this gives everyone a better of idea of what a cunning pet is capable of. They are very situational pets, but they should`nt be overlooked when it comes to choosing something like a raiding pet, etc. My impression of a cunning pet now that I have tried out tests with a cunning pet, is that under the right circumstances they are capable of great burst damage. Unlike a ferocity pet though, it can`t keep that damage sustained for very long so I guess it comes to personal taste.

Sorry for the EXTREMELY long post, but because Mania`s Arcania is a place where a lot of hunters come for pet help, I thought that stating this here would help in some way making the cunning tree not as bad as it appears (at least I thought it looked bad at first).Mania, feel free to shorten, move, delete this post by your convience, if there is a place where this would be more sutably posted, feel free to move because I honestly did`t know where to post it.Sorry for the inconviences this causes, I`m still new at the whole posting idea (This is my second post, wish it was`nt so long, but I could`nt help it in my excitement)

This was done on the PTR with a lv 70 BM hunter and lv 70 cunning pet, both hunter and pet was specced so the pet would do the most damage capable of doing.Hunter had Beast Mastery talent for added pet TPs.

BABY TICKBIRD AND TINY SERPENT! I've started collecting as many vanity pets as I can, and I can't WAIT to get these! I just wish my blood elf could get the faerie dragon alliance pet. /sniffle At least my priest has a baby hippogryph (birthday present from my husband...and the reason I'm never allowed to delete my priest).

Tickbird! That settles it then, I'm getting a rhino.

Unless of course the tick bird is friendly with other pets.

Actually, I wonder if it will interact at all. =\

Oooh - good stuff! I've added a few of these to my big link list as well. I dunno about how to justify getting my hunter a rhino (it doesn't fit her personality AT ALL), but they sure are cool.
