Name That Pet: Ardaion’s Cheetah

Name That Pet: Ardaion & CatFinal Name: Raksha

There are a lot of truly gorgeous cats, but the cheetah has always been one of my favorites — and a look that I think is often overlooked.

But not by Ardraion, a young Blood Elf hunter from Twisting Nether!

The pet I would like to name is my Blood Elf Hunter, Ardaion Sunleaf’s gorgeous cheetah/leopard, who I play on the Twisting Nether (RP-PvP server). I specifically went searching for the “just right” pet that would be useful but would have a somewhat unique look and found the lovely Dishu, the cheetah rare spawn in the Barrens. I am now level 22 and still have not managed to find just the right name for her, so I am hoping you can help me.

Below is some information about Ardaion and how he came to acquire his lovely companion.

Ardaion Sunleaf is a well-born, but rather wild son of a noble family from Silvermoon City. Taking more after his uncle than his father, Ardaion has joined the Farstriders and is spending a great deal of time traveling to across Azeroth. Ardaion often gives the impression of being little more than a spoiled brat, used to getting his own way, but lately he has been tending to surprise people with his insights and intelligence, though admittedly he has annoyed just as many. Brash, bold, and fearless, he is showing a strong tendency to watch out for others.

When the time came for Ardaion to choose a companion, nothing in Eversong Woods seem to suit him properly. He searched far and wide with little luck. It was in the Barrens that he chanced upon a gorgeous cheetah, resting in the shade of a tree near some lions. Rather taken by her beautiful, distinctive coat and regal bearing, he set about to taming her for himself. It took some time and some effort, but in the end, he called her to his side. Since then, she has been his constant companion during his travels and hunting.

I am looking for a lovely, serious name with a soft of “elvish” feel to it. Something that fits my image of the cheetah as being a regal, elegant, swift cat with a queenly air to her. Feminine of course, since I have thought of his pet as female from the beginning.

Regal, elegant, queenly … I’m sure we can come up with something for this gorgeous cat!

Name That Pet: Ardaion & Raksha[edit] Ardaion wrote to let me know that the chosen name is “Raksha”. And here’s a pic!

From an RP standpoint, a troll witch doctor that Ardaion knows called her that, telling Ardaion it meant “Powerful Cat Spirit” and he and his cheetah liked it. So it stuck.

Thank you again for the help and thanks to everyone who suggested names, but most especially Toxis who suggested Raksha!

Our pleasure!

I, myself, have always loved Dishu. But none of my hunters never keep her for long.

Some of the names that many of my Dishus have had are:
    Fiqe (Fi-que)
Kithrash (Can either be Kith Rash, Ki Thrash or something in between!)
    Falline
    Vovina
    and Quesalla.

That may seem like quite a few Dishus I’ve tamed, but I always seemed to go back and tame her again, only with a diffrent name during my travels.

My blood elf has a Crag Stalker called Kethai. It’s always been one of my favourite cat skins.

    Oher names that might suit:
    Ellara
    Vara
    Nemari
    Taelai

I’ve always loved the cheetah look, but it wouldn’t fit the flame red hair of my huntress. You look great next to Dishu, though! Grats on the rare tame!
Anyway, if I were to get Dishu, I would name her

    Willow.

I always think of the beauty and grace of the willow tree when I see the soft, earthy colors of this cat. I’m sorry for only posting one name, but good luck naming! ^__^

Izula – “Gypsy” or “Nomad” in Zulu (Also the name of my hunter’s cheetah =3)
    Erlina - “Little Elf”
    Nissa - “Friendly elf/fairy”
    Faye - “Fairy/Elf”

    Good luck! =)

On my hunter, my first pet was Dishu (Yes!!! I spent 5 extra levels without a pet!), I was about to name her ”Ambar”, but decided to keep ”Dishu” as her name… She is so pretty and I felt like I was commiting a sin renaming her.

  27. Corax - October 11th, 2008 @ 5:45 pm EDT

I have a Swamp Jaguar with this same skin, named Lily because she’s yellow-orange and spotted like a tiger lily. They really are gorgeous cats.

  28. Naughty - October 11th, 2008 @ 5:54 pm EDT

My second and third hunter both tamed Dishu until I got a pure white wintersaber. Both times I named them “Freckles”. Good luck in choosing your cheetas name!
