Ghostcrawler’s Arcania: Bugs, Bugs, Bugs
Ghostcrawler has been on the warpath (in a good way!) with the posting today. So here is your sometimes-almost-daily round-up of the wisdom of the crab!
On Charge going missing from land-based Ferocity pets:
Sorry. We introduced a bug in preparation for migating live pets over to the new system. It will be fixed soon.
On Longevity and Spirit Strike:
Longevity should affect Spirit Strike.
On the damage of Rake:
The cat’s ability, Rake, was doing too much damage. We want to keep the pets to very similar dps so that you really feel like you have a choice. If we err, it will be on the side of the exotics.
On Master’s Call:
Yeah, we’re working on it. It’s hard to tell sometimes with abilities that involve pet movement if the data are set up correctly and there’s just a code bug somewhere (that may happen infrequently) or if the spell itself is just borked.
On auto-cast skills turning on and off:
Players keep reporting it, but we can’t get a good repro case where it happens consistently.
I know that if the pet leaves you, that the autocast may change state. That’s annyoing but at least a known issue. But the problem where you turn autocast off and then it gets turned on again seems somewhat unpredictable.
On spirit beasts missing Revive Pet:
Is anyone else having this problem? Revive should just work on any pet. This one isn’t *that* unique.
On the rumor that pet AP dropped 20% in build 9061:
There have been no AP changes I know of, and we didn’t set out to nerf pet AP on purpose. So it’s either a bug or some misinformation.
[Addendum: As I posted in that thread, I see no changes in pet AP or DPS with this last build -- and I have pretty complete data -- so I strongly suspect that this is a misunderstanding.]

Still no word on our recent pets base agility nerf. over 50% less now and I’m still not sure if it isnt just a bug.
still waiting for pet hit…
The OP in that pet AP thread was either a fairly effective troll, or they changed their talent spec without thinking of the consequences on pet AP (e.g. going from MM to BM or SV may lead to a dramatic drop in pet AP, particularly with the loss of the 10% pet AP from True Shot Aura)
Pretty sure the pet hit change has already been implemented (I know I saw blue posts to that effect, and I think I saw player confirmations from target dummy testing)
Nryrony: So far as I know, pet hit is in, we just can’t see it on the pet panel yet … which is why I haven’t said all that much, because I have no good way to test it. :/ (My own hit is pretty pitiful.)
HAHAHA – page title read by google ads results in a bunch of Bug Exterminator and Bed Bug Remidies ads on the right ad bar. Pretty funny!
Has anyone seen this? http://files.filefront.com/Moviewmv/;11804834;/fileinfo.html
I think our pets might need some resilience as well as hit lol ^^
Ghostcrawler seems shocked that not many people have the spirit beast yet. Which might mean there is another one in the game.. Or the current spirit beast’s spawn timer is bugged.
@Kikaku
That’s pretty much what my poor pets – even the 70s – have been facing on the PTR. :( Of course, it also kinda depends on the OPness of the classes killing the pets. I mean, a rogue vs. a bird is only one example.
the revive pet issue was cleared up after a server shut down… kinda worked itself out. spirit strike still is not affected by longevity. :)
“On spirit beasts missing Revive Pet:

^^can delete that if you’d like
They could make resilience a Talent and have it set at 1/2 or 2/3 of a maximum player’s resilience. Though I haven’t gotten high enough to even get items with resilience. What’s the highest resilience can get?
GC just said…
“You did get the Hellfire Citadel dogs.”
Is he referring to the devil dogs, or is there something we don’t know about?..
ah okay, so if pet hit is already impelemtated the question is, how many do we get. I mean is it 1 to 1 with hunter hit, more or less… hmm… hard too test
Tried to get a group on the PTR to go into ramparts to test the dogs… no luck in getting someone to go… don’t know what GC meant…
I just tried, Rampart dogs are not tamable on PTR, at least not the first two you run into.
I just soloed ramparts up to the first patrol with 2 dogs in it, they showed up as untameable still, would be surprised if that’s changed since they are the mount model for wolves and blizzard stopped us getting a certain bear due to it being a mount model too.

apparently there’s some in shattered halls as well, but I can’t solo that, someone on the US forums has a picture of them being untameable though
Back after my internet went down for nearly a WEEK. Phone line was down, it took them until today to fix it. Since Friday night. *Growls* ANYWAY….
I am definitely noticing that pets are way to squishy at the eighty bracket. Even with a level eighty tenacity pet, they feel like a minor speed bump when one ((Forget two)) people decide they want your pet to die.
Good to see you back, Palladiamors! I admit I was getting a little worried …
pets definitely need resilience. if my pet had 20k hps at 70, it would still be easier to kill than me with my 450 resil and 13k hps.
WB Palla!
And I can safely say from the PTR that pets are still squishy at 70. x_x
did a target dummy test with recount and a lvl 70 target dummy.
fully clothed i have 154 hit rating no +hit gems either. and neither pet melee nor autoshot missed with a 2 min test using the built in timer
removing +hit gear so i had 0 hit rating gives me the expected 5% miss for autoshot and pet melee.
I do not have animal handler nor focused aim.
can someone else confirm this test?
*Laughs* Whats funny is, I was in mid-post on Friday when the line went down. Apparently it was either cut or damaged beyond repair and had to be totally replaced. Sorry for the silence!
Resilience alone won’t help, but it would go a long way. The problem I am seeing is that, for some reason, armor and hit point total aren’t standing in the way of damage at eighty for pets, and I have no idea why. My pets last longer at seventy, and thats with eight thousand less armor and nearly NINE thousand more hit points. It makes exacty zero sense for a level eighty tenacity pet with 20,000 armor and 16,000 hit points being healed for 2,000 every three seconds to disappear within five seconds. None. What so ever. Its frustrating.
Nine thousand LESS hit points* And I go back to doublin’….
For a triple, I should also note that my pet actually lives longer, much longer against casters then it does against physical meleers. Trying to make sense of this has been hurting my head for a bit now. Luckily ((*Rolls his eyes*)) I had six days off with which to recover!
Nice round up, as always.
But a recent addition regarding Ferocious Inspiration:
“Yes, it is supposed to be raid-wide. Fixed. ”
(source: http://blue.mmo-champion.com/3/10971928367-ferocious-inspiration-raidwide.html )
Good news for raiding pet freaks :D
maybe theyre refering to the blight hounds?
On cower coming back on: Just ran some tests on PTR. My buddy TypeOne had his cower come back on when I stabled him for the first time, but not after that. Full results:
stable pet – cower came back on 1 out of 10 times
flight = no
stay and run away = no
dismiss = no
mount = no
logging to char selection = no
exit game = no
I’m wondering if this has to do with him being out when they patched? I spent 10 minutes swapping pets around, spending points, etc, and couldn’t get it to happen again. Each no was tested 10 times with a level 62 spore bat, level 66 char and 51 points in BM.
Sukulatae: That’s a lot of testing! Very nice. I wonder if they’ve gotten the majority of the problem fixed. If it happens just once per pet after the patch, I’ll happily accept that. :>
