Fan Art: Join the Hunt - by RazzIsn’t that a gorgeous picture? (Click the pic for the full-sized version.)

It was sent to me by an artist named Razzy (aka Muldrik the Tauren Hunter on Azuremyst (US)) who says: “The images were obtained from WoW Model Viewer, and the background was obtained from Flickr.com under a creative commons license.” But the beautiful and creative combination is all Razzy.

Letters from Birdfall

I don’t think I’ve mentioned Letters from Birdfall here before, but it’s a very useful little blog. Birdfall posts a lot of how-to article on random arcane topics that you may not ever think you’ll need — until the day you do. *grin* For instance, how to upgrade to the collector’s edition with only an unused keycode so you can get a Netherwhelp non-combat pet. Or how to set AFK notes.

I especially like the fact that many posts start with a “Non-Gamer’s Guide to This Post” section which can help explain some of the basic concepts for non-gamers (as well as gamers like myself who occasionally realize that they’ve been living under a rock and have no idea what some term or concept means.)

Nick Yee on MMO Parents

You may remember that some time ago I posted about my crush for Nick Yee. Well the folks at Incredible Internet let me know that the amazing Mr. Yee is featured in “The Incredible Podcast Episode 1″, which discusses how parents of kids who play games like WoW help manage (or don’t) their children’s online activities. Coming from a researcher like Nick Yee, this isn’t a local-news-at-5-why-the-net-is-evil feature; it’s actually useful and interesting (and presumably more so if you actually have children).

PetEmote & Patch 3.0

Jorna wrote in to let me know that although an update will be needed, the wonderful PetEmote addon will indeed be available for use after Patch 3.0.2.

Aside: Speaking of PetEmote, I’ve finally added Big Bear Butt to my blogroll after realizing how many posts of his I really enjoy (like this one on PetEmote!). It’s a pity he’s not more of a hunter, although … I wonder if I could tame him … (*cough*)

Pet-o-licious Namerator

In a hidden update some time ago, Faeldray let us know that the Pet-o-licious Namerator now shows 10 random names for each pet/type (where previously some combinations had fewer names). However there are a number of pet families that could use some more silly names, so if you think you have a good one make sure to drop by and suggest it!

Wowhead’s Sexy New Item Comparison

By the way, if you haven’t seen it yet Wowhead has a new Item Comparison tool. I don’t get quite as excited by equipment as most hunters, but even to me it looks pretty sexy. *grin*

What a nice picture!! I’m glad I’m not the only one that think the prairie chickens are for food… ;o) Nah, I guess they’ll be useful after the patch, and otherwise batgrl always has her pink events ;o)

I’m glad the creator of the Pet Emote add-on is gonna update for 3.0.2. Was hoping he would, since he updated it recently.

    Cool pic!

Yeah the item comparison will come in handy with the new wotlk stats.

That’s a lovely pic! Kudos for using the “plain” tallstriders; it makes the whole thing look even more natural!

I have long wanted to tame my favorite druid for a pet, but I have to say, after playing my own druid….druids are like RL cats. They are not your pet; you are theirs.

    <3 DF. xD

Wow, that picture is amazing! My hat is off!

I just wish the item comparison would account for gems (by putting real gems in the slots rather than just counting the slots). Of course, it is also a question of what weights to use, but hopefull Shandira’s resurrection of Cheeky’s spreadsheet will help us with that (if you don’t know what I’m talking about, head over to tkasomething.com).

Kalli, I completely agree. I’m currently leveling a druid. =D

    Oh, nice set of links!

And the /afk and /dnd disturb messages…I did not know you could do that! I’m going to start putting my own custom messages when I use them.

And what a lovely picture…it made me stop and look at it, and go “Nooooooo! The frostsaber is going to eat them! Run Otis, run!” (Otis was the name of my old Ornery Plainstrider, who I will probably be retaming after the next big patch.)

And druid taming…ahhahaah. I’m really glad some of the druid skins are available as tamable hunter pets, since I can’t tame a real live druid. Best I can do is pretend my red springpaw lynx is an unlucky Blood Elf who decided to dabble in Druid magics with unfortunate results (RP servers are fun for this sort of stuff). :D I suppose I can keep dreaming about having a Moonkin hunter pet?

Official Forums down, its tuesday morning. IS IT TIME? Wy gut tells me an update is a’ coming. ^^ Roll on 3.0!

  13. Rykros - October 7th, 2008 @ 5:36 am EDT

Or not, just a temp server overload 8C; was getting excited there.

  14. Tarjin - October 7th, 2008 @ 3:08 pm EDT

Yes, that is a wonderful picture, but my first thought was also “No, don’t eat Chiskwa!”, my tauren’s Adult Tallstrider.

  15. Darkhallow - October 7th, 2008 @ 10:48 pm EDT

Got a bigger version of that picture so I can have it as my wallpaper?

  16. Faeldray - October 9th, 2008 @ 7:24 pm EDT

Oops, I didn’t think that making the Pet-o-licious Namerator show 10 names was a big deal, so I just stuck it in at the end of a post. :P

That is a beautiful piece of artwork. It’s given me some ideas to make my own.

I once joked about taming a shaman in wolf form. When he resisted, I emoted pulling out a huge taming rod and said “Taming is always easier when they’re unconscious.”

  17. Firewing - October 10th, 2008 @ 4:25 pm EDT

Ehehe! Sic ‘em Moonlight! (My Rak’shiri)

As for druid taming, the public note for my guild for my druid is, “I’m not tamable in cat form!” So, yes. You stay away with your taming rods.
