At about 11 pm on Friday, September 27 — about a week after we started this move — we unloaded the last box from the old apartment into the new place. The old apartment is completely cleaned out and my husband is going by tomorrow to arrange for a walk-through and drop off the keys.
Of course, the new place is currently decorated in the classic ‘precarious towers of cardboard boxes’ style, but there’s no real time limit on unpacking. Indeed, we have some boxes we never unpacked from the last move. So the urgency is off and I can get back to WoW. This is especially good news for those readers who are thoroughly sick of my whining. *grin*
We now return you to your regularly scheduled pet blog already in progress.
Congratulations.
Seriously. Moving is a massive hassle.
I wouldn’t call it whining at all. Moving is a pain in the butt and from my perspective, as well as many other faithful readers. You handled it quite gracefully.
Gratz on the new place, Mania. Moving my stuff when my husband and I first got marreid was a real pain. We did it slowly over the last few months before the wedding, and I STILL had stuff left at my mom’s.
grats and good luck with unpacking.may nothing be broken, bent, smooooshed, squished, ect…
Glad to hear it Mania… but do you want to risk letting your husband carry…… keys? *grins* Might hurt himself!
Grats! Sit back, relax, and have fun with your favorite pets :) (Real or digital)
Woot Grats!!!
/cookies&huggles
Grats, Mania – now go take a breather! ^_~*
Don’t worry about the boxes everywhere – I moved to my current place a year ago next week and still haven’t finished unpacking. >.>
Yay!!! Yep… I still have some boxes that are like 10 years old.
Yay for the move being over!! The hubby has some boxes like that… every time I mention that we *could* through them out, he almost has a fit!
Grats on finishing the move. ^^
Now if only I could muster up the strength to start packing…
Grats on the move mania, now unpack everything and take a long quiet nap =P I know how a move is haha, it’s a real hassel and kinda strange cause you leave your life behind in a way to say
Gratz. I already moved 4 times in my whole life, and it is a pain. Gladly enough, the first move was when i were tiny, and the other three were within one town so it didn’t really change.
Enjoy your new place!
Were not sick of your moveing Mania, its just that we are to jealous!
Hope you enjoy your new home.
Grats Mania, Im moving in my new place on 4th of October.Have a jolly time moving into your new place!
“Of course, the new place is currently decorated in the classic ‘precarious towers of cardboard boxes’ style” – Cardboard fort battles FTW. But seriously glad your settled now, moving is hard sometimes.
YAY FOR MANIA!! :oD And really, is there any other decorating style that is *so* much in vogue with the young and beautiful?? ;o)
Gratz, any of chance of finding my pet hydra in any of those boxes? (Yes I am going to bring it up in EVERY post I make)
But seriously good to hear you’re free to take the reins again; to think things almost got out of hand^^ have fun in your new place and remember, unpack quickly; lest gnomes begin breeding in the boxes (god what a christmas THAT was).
—Rykros out.
Nice to hear you are all moved in, now you need to get around to sleeping and eating properly… :P Hope hubby’s back is better.
Mania-
You missed an interesting discussion on women in gaming and cute hunter pets there.
And don’t worry about unpacking. I’m still settling in where I am after a year living here.
Congrats! You did better than I did. I moved 3 weeks ago and just unpacked the last of my major boxes yesterday — and I *still* need to go out and buy a couch and/or recliner for my apartment!
CONGRATZ
Nice, Mania! Sit back and relax for a bit, unpacking can wait.
And now for a fun tip to enrich your hunter experience! Use disengage, and then jump. You’ll have to work out the timing a bit, but if done correctly, disengage will kick in at the height of your jump, propelling you further backwards. Enjoy!
The fall of 2001 I spent every weekend for a few months driving down south to my parent’s place to help them move. They were moving out of the old house in the countryside into a modern apartment in the closest town. They were getting on a bit, my dad was retired already and my mom was drawing near to retirement age. My two sisters and me had been lobbying for a good few years that they should move to something smaller and less rural to simplify retired life for them, in the end we convinced them when we promised to handle the moving for them.
My parents moved into that house in the year they got married. 1963…
To me it had been a simple promise that we would help with the move, I figured that my sisters would do most of the work. :) They both live within a half hour of the old place while I have ended up living in the town where I went to university, a good 6 hour drive to the north. But when family, and especially my oldest sister, beckons there really is no choice. So off I went, every Friday evening…
To be honest though, it was actually the most fun I had had in a long time. Getting to sort through childhood stuff from the house where we grew up, working close together with my sisters and just plain being in an environment where I hadn’t spent any longer periods of time since I moved away a decade earlier. So I guess I want to say that, under the right circumstances, moving isn’t so bad…
Good luck in the new house, Mania and Mr Mania!
‘already in progress’ – a firesign fan, eh?
I see that you haven’t really updated new “skins” of animals. At least for the ones that I’m looking for. The Spirit Beast and the white rhino.
I hate to say this, but my husband and i moved into our house like ummm 6 years ago and we have yet to unpack boxes. our hobby room has like nearly a dozen boxes waiting to be opened. at this point i dont even remember whats in them.
When i was little my parents were building a house and we lived in a tent! so then we had to move in to it in 4 feet of snow! oh by the way congratulations.
Congratulations, Mania! I hope you and your husband enjoy your new place.
