PTR 3.0: Almost Ready?
If you follow WoW Insider, you may have seen this news already: character copies to the Public Test Realms have been enabled. This is presumably for the PTR 3.0 testing, although we don’t have any confirmation since the Public Test Realm forum is also down right now — quite possibly for cleanup prior to opening the PTR.
This is terrible timing for me. I’m going to be down at the new house for most of today cleaning and I fly out to the AGDC tomorrow. So I will be counting on you guys to keep me updated on all the PTR 3.0 info.

Copying Cele over now, we shall see what happens to my Windserpent, Dragonhawk and Nether Ray soon enough (if i can get the PTR to download)
Celeglad, Nether rays are interesting now. Not in a bad way, just take a bit of getting used to. I like them, and as an update I believe the caster stats are gone. As fair warning, netehr rays won’t use nether shock if your target doesn’t have a mana bar. I still have to go test a spore bat….
hi guys just thought id let you know that the ptr 3.0.2.8916 installer client is ready for download on the ptr download page as of this morning and i am in the process of downlowding right now total of 900 mb

haha, my Ray was a Coilfang one so i never had to worry about the caster stats. dropped him for the other two cuz he couldn’t hold aggro though… :(
The PTR is pretty fun, I like being able to mess around with the exotic pets, but i definitely wish they’d let us got to northrend so we can try out things there, otherwise this is going to get old fast

Is the current client that sdownloadable for 3.0.2? God I hope so. WOuldn’t be surprised if it coincided with WAR’s “Head Start” release XD
FYI – if you have changed your WoW password in the last month or so, you will have to eventually (after all the patching of the PRT) log in with your old password. I had. logged in after install, but it went to 3.0.2 after which it failed. checked on regular, is ok changed to not use the authenticator (that had an issue with a patch before, but same same. did a change globally, just for grins – no joy.
then I tried my old password and all is well,even using the authenticator.
bout the only exotic I could think of was Tyranus but he’s lvl 71 – duh. levelin time again.
For anyone who’s on, are you able to tame any exotics currently in-game (AKA Corehounds or Chimaeras?)
Yeah you are able to tame all the exotics currently in game! =D I already tamed myself a core hound, Chimaera, and as I speak I’m flying down to Un’ Goro to get me a Devilsaur!
One bug I have noticed is that my cunning pets are getting the dmg bonus from Feeding Frenzy all the time instead of just when the target is under 35%. Thus making them do about 10-20 more DPS than my furiosity pets. Anyone else notice this or are my pets just bugged?

Spent all morning on the PTR, here’s what I did
I rolled SV and tamed a wasp. I chose wasp because the armor reduction, and found it to be really useful. Currently there’s a glitch that causes the 10-minute cooldown of Heart of the Phoenix (self-rez ferocity talent) to reset every time the pet spawns. i.e. every time u die in BGs, hearth, dismount, relog, the ability gains a cooldown. I’ve been yet unable to test this ability at all.
Apart from me and one other hunter, all hunters I encountered were Beast Masters. The most common exotic pet was the Core Hound (when i logged i thought Ironforge was having an earthquake lol). In the BG all hunters I fought had a Core Hound level 65, and dealt good damage.
P.S. Explosive Shot is mega mega imba!!!
I’m really glad to hear that patch 3.0 is up and being worked on. Unfortunately, I won’t have time to play it…I’m already in Beta and don’t have the time to spread between beta, live, and PTR.
That being said, I’m glad the exotic pets and new pet skills will be released before WotLK hits. Alot of the exotic pets or lower level pets I’ve tamed aren’t really viable in Northrend because of the five level difference and new pet skill quirks and bugs, unless they happen to be a tenacity/tank pet. Getting ahold of these beasties before WotLK will give me some time to level them up so they are more usuable in the exapansion areas.
I was finally able to tset Heart of the Phoenix, and the auto-cast didn’t seem to work. I had to open my spellbook and manually cast it.
Do I have to drag it onto my toolbar?
Or is this a technical glitch? Because it would seem to be a big one.
Any1 confirm this?
HotP isn’t autocast any more – it was too likely that the pet would just re-rez directly on top of what killed it in the first place.
The only glitch without is the 10 minute cooldown being triggered whenever the pet is summoned instead of being preserved across pet death and dismissal the way other long cooldown pet abilities are.

has anyone managed to copy over a hunter with a ghost wolf to see how theyre fairing in the ptr? i wanna try but it keeps saying the queue for character copies is full…
Hyena84: I copied with my ghost wolf “Kiba” today to the PvE server. He’s the same as every other wolf (cept he did this cool “shrinking’ thing for awhile. Everytime I called him, he’d start off companion pet size and then grew to normal size again).
EXCEPT he still can’t run. =/
iv noticed a weird shrinking thing with some of my pets on live to.
i dont mind if the ghost wolves run funny.i kind of like it.
i was (and still am) worried they would make them unfeedable somehow or reskin them.im likeing what im seeing for alot of the pet talents so far though.seems like they actually listend to us and tryed to help with pet happyness issues…
Blizzard killed the ‘uniqueness’ of the ghost wolf. I saw many shamans summoning spirit wolves, which are the same model but a little larger.
When I tamed my wasp (remember, non-exotic) it didn’t shrink compared to other non-exotic pets. Curious…
And nice info on HotP, but why does it have the ability to still toggle the auto cast with right click? Needs to be fixed.
Think i’m gonna try a pet that can slow/root the enemy in some duels, see if it helps against melees when combined with the new Disengage.
Vish: Which wasp was it? I noticed when I tamed my Kurken, it didn’t grow at first, and after I dismiss’d/called it again, it got substantially larger. The wasp might’ve been just the right size for its level.
I don’t think they killed the unique-ness. Spirit Wolves should belong to a shaman, but not many hunters are going to have them as pets =)
Double Whammy: Realized that for some reason my Track Beasts and Track humanoids aren’t working properly in netherstorm. ><
track beasts and humanoids seem to always be on, no matter what we do.
It was a wasp from zangarmarsh, was lvl 61 jumped to 65 on tame.
Wish that HotP could be dragged onto MY toolbars as well as my pet’s
Most of the trackings don’t work at this point. As noted Humanoid AND Beast are always on @@ Guess they wanted to make it easier for us to track things lol. I have in fact found it quite amusing that my Cat can get charge XD It made me giggle for the fact that I could now have a charging feline by my side. GO LONG!
And 50g for the 4th pet stable slot, bet it’s 100g for the 5th one on us >> sheesh my pockets are never going to keep money so I can save up for my Epic flyer.
I noticed they either nuked the Chimera’s attack or their still working on it. Mostly because it only dealt 89 damage at one point on me before dropping a nuke bomb and then some XD Un’Goro Crater, you couldn’t get your hands on ANYTHING, Devilsaur was out of the question so haven’t had the chance to tame one of them buggers. Core Hound, I tamed a Spawn of Uv only because it was easier for me to get to and such. I tamed the Chimera in Blades Edge, that thing was HUGE xD and I’m a Tauren!
Then I went back to Thunder Bluff to tame myself a Silithid, which I adored the most. They are so cute and the Venom Web Spray is just awesome heh. I gotta remember too many pets now and it’s going to be so hard keeping them all leveled at 80 even if they do an auto skip to level 75 for you XD

Well i tried to get into the ptr but it won’t download the first patch it keeps staying at 0%. Guess no luck for me oh well.
