There are many places to be elitist pricks, and as a partial elitist prick myself, I have to say that this is not one of them. If you don’t have anything to say about the topic itself, go away before spewing your garbage.
As for naming the pet, I personally like Shadowfang – all things considered, it sounds like a cool panther name. I’m not all that great at coming up with names, myself, so I don’t have any new ones to suggest.

What’s with all the jerks giving grief to this poor guy? ._. I’m quite sure he knows what he’s doing by now, fellas. Here’s a couple name suggestions for your cat!
Grimalkin – A creature in myth that is said to be a man by day, and a wild panther at night. Often portrayed as a servant to witches.
Nekomata – A two-tailed cat from Japanese myth that is sometimes said to bring misfortune.
Ankou – The Fae/French version of the Grim Reaper.
Dusa/Dusanek/Dusan/Dusek – “Soul”, “Spirit”
Obsidian – A shiny, usually black, volcanic glass
Tonrar – Inuit for ghost or demon

What about Nakita? As in La Fem Nakita, I have a cat just like that from STV and that is what I named her. In the TV show la fem nakita the main star was one bad a$$ and was working for this dark spy group.

I love panthers! They are some of most gorgeous cats in the game, along with ghostsabers and the white frostsabers. My very first panther was named Guenivar, a respelling of Guenhwyvar from Forgotten Realms, to get around the filter. I know, I know. But I loved my spelling of it, and as far as I know, no one caught the reference.
So, my suggestions are:
Arashi – Japanese for Storm
Chasm

id like the name inkheart, but i also have a question for mania the chimeras in thousand needles the riding ones, are those going to be tameable in the expansion.

Dae and Morchaint are elven words for shadow from the Silmarillion.

It’s a shame to see a guy get flamed here, no matter what the reason. Mania herself professes to not be the greatest hunter in the game, and you wouldn’t dare ridicule her, so why the off color remarks about one of her website devotee’s? Ridiculous, unacceptable and totally disheartening for this wonderful website. Save it for channel 2, as it seems that’s what people think the trade channel is for.

I was thinking Smoke would be a good panther name. Most com with prowl of some level anyway and can always be trained for higher ranks if need be.
I tried Guenhwyvar with my panther on my very first hunter. The filter won’t allow it. ‘Tis a shame; it’s a beautiful name.
Hehe… I was reading through this thread and realized that Mirutar chose the name Shadowfang for his panther back in comment 23 and thanked everyone for their suggestions in comment 25. Whoops. Did everyone catch this and I’m just completely oblivious, or do we just enjoy naming panthers so much that we continued on anyway? ;)
