Name That Pet: Yaghor’s Croc
We don’t often get Name That Pet requests for crocolisks, so today’s request is a real treat.
My name is Yaghor Bloodspiller, Orc Hunter from the fine realm of Defias Brotherhood (RP PVP – EU). A week ago I tamed my lovely new pet; a crocolisk! I’m a big fan of crocodiles in real life and decided to get my hands on one of them in World of Warcraft. Love the lil’ beast already, the hissing sounds it makes, so cool. And he does a hell o’ a job tanking as well.
Seeing as I really like this site and visit it quite often, I decided to ask you dear readers for a fitting name for my crocolisk. I had the name ‘Ripjaw’ in mind, to be honest, but I would like to see what input you guys can give me. I currently have two other pets as well, a ravager called ‘Rampage’ and the black lion Humar called ‘Nightshade’.
Here’s a little description about Yaghor, this might give you a better idea about what type of name would best fit the pet. I wouldn’t have mind putting down the background story here, but seeing as I still have to find the time to write it down, I’ll just give a short version of the Orc.
“Yaghor used to be a member of the old Shattered Hand clan. He took out his own eye with a rusty dagger during a ceremony to prove his worth and to raise in ranks. The other two Orc’s who wished to achieve the same thing failed however and died a slow, awful death.
Yaghor became one of the top ranked assassins of his clan. Using his pets to do most of his work, making him the ideal killer. He could use the venom from his Scorpids to envenom his weapons or his arrows, or use a swift creature to hunt down Yaghor’s ‘prey’ easily. Being able to track down his target’s made the job even easier. Those days in the Shattered Hand are over now however.
Now he does almost everything to get a quick buck. He enjoys the hunt for his targets still, but he put this on a sidetrack. He may change his mind though, if the price is right.
He joined up with the Sixty Thieves, a criminal organization. Mugging people is what they do best, gladly taking some precious golden coins from unfortunate people. The members are never called by their real names, instead, each member gets his own nickname. Yaghor got the nickname ‘Patch’, because he now wears an eye patch where his eye used to be.”
So as you can see, the Orc is quite the bastard. Cold, brutal, and very greedy.
Thank you for your suggestions!
A brutal, greedy orc with a croc! This should be fun.

My crocodile pet is named Dundee, after the movie (Crocodile Dundee – http://www.imdb.com/title/tt0090555/).
How about Faust
Slayer
ironHide
Deathroll
I like Deathroll too
The only croc I had for any length of time was named ‘Bindi’… for the aforementioned Croc Hunter reasons.
I’ve also seen ‘Suitcase’ and ‘Gucci’ , but… I suspect you want something more serious than that. XD
A couple names came to mind when I saw this guy.. and kudos for choosing a croc!
Lockjaw
Hex (for the six legs)
Murklash
Terminus
Lowground
or, for a joke, Anklebiter ;)
I’ve seen crocs with the name “Steve” and “Irwin” before.
I had a croc for a brief period of time for pet skill upgrades. I named mine “GatorAid” which made people LOL when they saw him. Although I also suspect that is probably not serious enough for you.
You could name him “Gustave”, which is the name of a famous, huge man-eating crocodile that lives in Burundi, Africa. Google up the words: “Gustave crocodile Africa” and you’ll get all sorts of information about him. (Now, if I were to keep on a crocolisk on as a serious pet, I’d totally name him this).
Hannibal
The first things to me that come to mind are
Gustave – a massive Nile crocodile living in Burundi. Estimated to be at least 6 metres (20 ft) in length and weighing around 1 ton, he is the largest crocodile ever seen in Africa.
Sweetheart – Sweetheart was the name given to a crocodile responsible for a series of attacks on boats in Australia between 1974 and 1979. Sweetheart attacked outboard motors, dingys, and fishing boats.
Gomek – Gomek was a large Saltwater Crocodile captured by George Craig in Papua New Guinea. He was purchased by Terri and Arthur Jones in 1985 and was kept in Ocala, Florida for five years before being sold to the St. Augustine Alligator Farm Zoological Park in Florida.
Acco – 73 year old Saltie Croc that lives in Australia Zoo (in a bit of a tie to Steve Irwin if you liked him XP)
Agro – Another croc from the Australia Zoo
Bindi – Croc/Daughter of Steve Irwin (Whichever you prefer)
Casper – Though this might be more so for the Albino Croc skin it’s still a rather amusing name for a Croc XD
Connie – Australia Zoo Croc
Graham – Australia Zoo Croc
Monty – Australia Zoo Croc
Mossman – Australia Zoo Croc
Other names that hit me up and come to mind
Glen, Basil, Charlie, Jade, Pamela, Frankie, Lulu, Ora, Se Se (Sese), Esperence, Jub Jub (JubJub), Pinko, Goliath, Echo, Cleo, Teela, Kiah, Myndee, Siam, Sabu, Vatobe, Julian, Ethan, Sunita, Manas, Maneki, Juma, Singha, and Laura
TickTock
…here comes the Croc!
I like Ripjaw too, but if I had to suggest other names…
Gnarlfang like Gnarled fangs
Hookfang I’m liking the toothy theme.
Maybe just Rip?
Or even Aggro!
I personally named my croc Banjo.
Deathroll gets my vote.
“Handbag” like you stole it!
Ripjaw or deathroll sound great to me.
well, since you actually like the hissing, maybe you should try Vader.
Crikey!
i’ve always loved using latin to describe an attribute of my pet that i like.
vesper (twilight, or evening star if you want to get literal) for Humar.
aequus (the calm) for the white lion. i’m a black tauren, and having a beast opposite my color makes me feel like he’s my opposite. as i am the wrath, he is the calm.
although i don’t think those above words would quite sum up your pet, i think you may like finding some to be that perfect fit. here’s the site: http://www.tranexp.com:2000/InterTran?url=http%3A%2F%2F&type=text&text=da&from=ltt&to=eng
some possibilities:
Vereor (fear)
Devasto (ravage)
Exitus (the end)
and so on.
translate a fun word and pick the choice that sounds cool. hope you like it! (i love your story by the way)

Here are a couple of names if you want to pay hommage to Steve Irwin.
Essendon – Steve’s home town.
Trev – The name of the elephant seal that Irwin voiced in, Happy Feet. (He died during post production of this movie)
Bindi – Irwin’s daughter.
Neyyar – A wildlife sanctuary that was named after Irwin, after he died.
Elseya – The name of the species of Turtle that Irwin discovered.
Caloundra – Where Irwin’s funeral was held.
I hope these help.
RIP: Stephen Robert Irwin (February 22, 1962 – September 4, 2006)
Either Deathroll or maybe Ambush.
I’ve always liked Hissyfit for crocs, but maybe something like Sawback, slang for a dollar…
Trash, Leviathan, Deathroll or Deathtoll, Snapjaw, Trunk, Bonecrusher… springs to mind for the serious names.
Snappy, Uboot or Crocy for the silly ones ;)
How about Greenback? Since Yaghor is a greedy orc, naming him after the US dollar might be nice.
Doomjaw.
i like greenback. very clever.
The first name that jumps to my mind would be “Snappy” – but that may be too frivolous for you
Wow, good suggestions people!
Keep ‘em comin’! ^_^
@ irwinn
It’s gettin’ really angry now!
(pokes it with a stick some more)
Crunch, snapjaw, leatherhead, snappah, crunchbite :D
Deathroll is a good one…
I don’t know them and am too lazy to look now, but you could go to some of the language translators and look up “man eater” in different languages for something different. Also, look up “gold” and then combine it with something like “snap” or “bite” or “crunch” and you may come up with something cool and unique?
Goldtooth…summarizes both of you
fang
riptorn…always loved that name lol
You can scan movie names, too…on one of my hunters, I have both the black and white lions and they are called “theghost” and “thedarkness” from the movie of the same name…that may be something to try out, too!!
leatherhead gets my vote for a tanking pet, very cool name indeed.
Deathtoll (not roll but toll), Ganker, Yoink, Megajaw, Snapback or Snapper (after the name of its new skill in wotlk), Hook (from peter pan), umm thats all that are coming to mind right now.
Reptilicus – old movie reptile
Loafer – They’re always pretty much laying down
Eatchou – ’cause he eats you
Facerip – so many violent names to choose from
Biteyerbutt – obvious
Bitey – just because
How about “Tebow” after the Heisman trophy winning quaterback of the University of Florida Gators Tim Tebow. That’s what I named mine. I got alot of hate from Buckeye fans. hehe
speaking of peter pan, Mr. Grin is the croc.
How about Shattermaw? Shatter(ed hand)…you get the picture. :P
Stonewulf:
You’re unlikely to find even 3 people on all of Defias Brotherhood-*EU* who know who the hell Tim Tebow is, or what team he plays for at what godforsaken university in the US. ;) Hardly anyone cares for american “football” in Europe…
For a whimsical name, Schnappie perhaps? :D http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=RJbpAtvdXxc
i read your backstory on your guy and i was thinking for a bit and heres what i came up with
Lockjaw
Bane
Krusha
Slick (they slide it looks to me)
Scrapper, Scrap for short (these suckas got a mean streak a mile wide)
well hope one catches your eye :P
Good names, fella’s. ;)
Quite hard to pick one, so I’ll think about which one to pick, I’ll let you guys know. ;)
Devourer
Devastator
Annihilator
Akuretari from the Emerald Knights saga.
Goldsnap is all I’ve got.
I like the backstory. It’s nice to see a less-than-friendly backstory here and there (No, I’m not being sarcastic. I usually am not one for stories full of happy-happy-joy-joy :P )
Anyway..
Palustris — “Mugger crocodile”
Blackheart
Quietus — killing action
Viletooth
Felfang
Something like that maybe.
