Demon Hounds are Wolves?!
Ceron gets full credit for finding the most interesting change in beta build 8778 so far: the Vargul Blighthounds in Zul’Drak can now be tamed! (That’s him with his new hound to the left.)
This is a bit of a surprise to say the least. Vargul Blighthounds were undead in the last beta build, I believe. And they use a model that is most commonly used for demons. But now they can be tamed, and not as an exotic creature but as a plain old wolf (with Furious Howl and everything)!
As I see it, there are three possible explanations for these gorgeous critters:
- This is entirely a mistake; Vargul Blighthounds weren’t intended to be beasts.
- Vargul Blighthounds will eventually be a type of new exotic pet but they skipped out early, and it’s a bug that they are currently wolves.
- This is a new type of wolf model, giving us four really cool looks for wolves.
I’d be happy with either #2 or #3.
And here’s a bit more of a close-up for you:

Awesome, of to search the beta for more tameables ^_^
Someone check the Hellboars…
Still waiting for a notice if the maggots are tameable or not:) Am I starting to sound a little naggy?:P
Sorry for the typo. They are called Vargul Blighthounds.
Anyways, I put in a suggestion/feedback for these guys last build to become beast and tamable with the reasoning as their skin is pretty darn awesome and there are other demondogs with that skin classified as “beasts”. Not sure if it did anything but they are tamable now! :-D
Now I guess its time to put in feedback for the Beryl Hounds, Coldarra Mage Slayers, and Mage Hunters to become beasts/tamable. They have the same exact skin as the Vargul Blighthounds, but they are blue with blue runes/blue flamed paws.
@Bradagore
Hellboars are still Demons.
@Keilden
The only maggots that I have checked were the Larvae in Blade’s Edge. A no go there.
I was just running for the comments box to ask about Helboars, myself. We have been needing new boars, after all!
I’m assuming the various demon dogs in the Plaguelands and Tirsfal are still considered ‘demons’, but… hey. You never know! Rather less impressive than these ones, of course! If they stay as wolves, I think I know one of the pets that I’ll be getting with my Survival hunter. Imagine raiding with one of *those* babies.
Oh, my hunter stables will be getting *SUCH* an overhaul come WotLK. ;)
Kurasu: Unfortunately yes — I just logged off from checking the Tirisfal and EP ‘hounds, as well as the blue magehunter hounds that Ceron mentions in Dragonblight, Borean Tundra, and Coldarra, and all of them are demons.
However, I noticed that Wowhead does list one plaguehound (the old style) as a beast — the elite level 61 Plagued Deathhound. But … it was in Naxxramas.
Zhevra Runner/Zhevra Charger/Zhevra Courser… Cannot be tamed.
Barrans Giraffe/Wandering Barrens Giraffe… Cannot be tamed.
Lost Barrens Kodo/Barrens Kodo/Greater Barrens Kodo/Wooly Kodo… Cannot be tamed.
Stormsnout/Thunderhead/Stormhide/Thunderstomp… Cannot be tamed.
Silithid Grub (maggot marked as beast)… Cannot be tamed.
Blast. Doesn’t seem to be anything new in the Barrens. Checking Wyverns in Thousand Needles before sleep. Hm, despite mashing “d” Autorun ran me over the Great Lift to my death. Annnnnd…
Highperch Consort/Wyvern/Patriarch… Cannot be tamed.
Sorry folks.
Mage hunters = epic win!
I get suspicion this is a slight mistake on blizz side
since seemingly the others are still counted as demons
i hope i am wrong tho and maybe the others become beasts aswel
since i saw the compilation picture with the different color hounds i wanted them ^^
@Cheron
Thanks for checking and :(
I’ve always wanted one of these me’self. Though if these do make it out of beta, I definitely want one of the blue ones over the fire-colored one.
Oh god I think I’m in love…..new pet number one….please please please PLEASE bliz don’t take this away from us…..*/beg /cry /pleed /grovel*
Ive asked in posts before, if the wasps in zangarmarsh can be tamed. I have not got an answer from any posts, on any sites ive made. I think those wasps are some of the coolest looking mobs, and if scorpids, and those hive insects can be tamed, why not wasps?
So Grimtotem Spirit Guides don’t fit the feel of the hunter class, being “undead” and ghostly, but a tatooed, flaming wolf does? I don’t understand Blizzard’s thinking sometimes.
Verun, thanks for checking all those beasts.
@ tony - agreed about the firecly/wasps in Zangarmarsh - I’m hoping that Silithid wasps and fireflies are merged into a flying insecet exotic in a later update.
That is an awesome hound, but screw them! :O
WTB Hydra pet. Blizz needs hydras to be tameable :<
And wyverns.. and hippogryphs.. and griffons. Hehe.
Sick wolf though.
Tarjin -
While that was the explanation they gave, it’s more likely that they initially allowed it but later decided to give enhancement shamans ghost wolves that use the same skin, and disallowed hunter taming to prevent confusion.
@ tony: As much as I hope they do make the wasps tameable, they are currently unclassified at the moment (like slimes). I would check to see if they’ve changed that yet, but the US beta hasn’t opened yet. =(
Regarding maggots, the Jormungar Tunnelers in Dragonblight (which are beasts with a maggot-style model) also cannot be tamed.
My Jormungar Feeder from the same area is very pretty though - now I just need to come up with a name…
Sweet maggots
Given that there are other corrupted creatures that can be tamed, I would love it if they switched the old world demon dog types to beasts especially since there is not a heavy demonic presence in those areas.
i think its a bug, cuz those models arent for beast, thery are demon.
Someone go and check the demon wolf models in tirisfal :D
Amani Bear check please….
Speaking as a player of course I’d love to tame one of those, however they are so much cooler looking than really any other hunter pet (by virtue of their energy effects) that I think if they are left tame-able when WotLK that it will become a majority pet (if not THE majority pet), to the point that hunters may begin to look generic (much moreso than at present with the legions of leaping hunters and their sleek cat friends).
And as others have noted, if hunters are allowed to tame these, then Blizzard’s earlier nerfing of the spirit wolf will look like a pointless, petty slap rather than the attempt at preserving overall game feel I believe it was intended to be.
So I’m kind of conflicted about this… if they are going to keep this thing tame-able then I feel Blizz should look into ways hunters can “upgrade” (at least some of) the other pet models to exhibit cool energy effects (e.g. things like heart of the phoenix could cause a pet’s eyes to glow and so forth), or perhaps modify the tenacity tree to include an “epic tank” talent at higher level that builds on the barding talents to make the pet’s model actually show barding (as well as provide a bit more actual +armor), and so forth.
Because otherwise, hunters are going to look like warlocks with bows.
OMG I SOOOOOO WANT THAT !!!
The ultimate pet for a blood elf huntress :)
Correct
Now someone just needs to find a tamable Hippogryph and I would be happy.
Wow that’s a nice bug in this build but those are clearly demons and not beasts. I’d assume that this is corrected in the upcoming patch next week.
I’d love to have that as a pet. Do you think that they would consent to getting rid of the spikey, um, thing that my Warlock summons and giving her that instead?
And, Strawberry, you’re probably right about it being a glitch that will be fixed in the next build.
Actually, I have a question for those who have tamed: how are its animations when it’s moving along? No funky run/walk animation? No odd jumping (or lack of jumping) when you use Eyes Of The Beast?
I was told back when I tamed a Torranache (or whatever they’re called; the purple striders) that they had a funky run (or lack thereof, actually) animation because they were originally not made to be tamed. Therefore, the animations hadn’t been added for a ‘tamed’ creature. Likewise, the Ghost Wolf’s animations were all rather odd, from what people said, because of the same reason (no added ‘walk’ animation). So how about this dog?
The way I see it: if there are complete animations for run, walk, jump, et cetera, it says more strongly to me that it was intended to be tamed.
If you ask me the only way blizz could combat everyone using the same animal is make the pet stables work like the mount tab. This would allow a hunter to change pets out on the fly out of combat.
And yes that demon wolf better not be a bug :P
also mania wanted to point out im a web programmer with knowledge of databases and php if your needing help with that proj.
I think it would be awsome if this wolf was kept tamable. The very uniqueness of its skin, gives a “new-world” feel. I’d love to tame a blue fire one, go my pretty kill kill!!
Though, to Scotts comment “it will become a majority pet (if not THE majority pet), to the point that hunters may begin to look generic”
I think I said something about this in another post. Everyone remember warp stalkers? when they first came out every hunter had one. Now, I see lots of hunters running around again with ol’faithful cats. Warps arent everywhere anymore. As hunters get a feel for the different pets, they’ll find the ones that work for them. Each hunter has thier own play style, and different things/stats they need for thier pets. So, I think that yeah, if these are tamabel come the official release, then there will be lots of hunters running around with them…for a bit, then it will die off.
Its going to be the same for a bunch of these new release pets. I know I am going to be doing alot of “Test taming” to find out what all these new pets can do. Though I think my Hyena Nanaki will still be my favourite pet.
Well that beast looks cool and i bet if it stays we will see loads of them about , my guess it will be in the top 5 of the new hunters pets , not including exotics .
So far i can see nothing bad about being a Hunter when we get the expansion apart from i will want to see how much more fun they will be at low levels.
Guys every time a ‘new’ pet or something is found, there’s one or two people screaming “Everyone will tame these, you won’t see anything else and all hunters will be generic” Happened when they unveiled the Devilsaurs too, and the silithids. The hunters I’ve seen and read about here are anything but generic. They all have their likes and dislikes. Heck I think moths are insane as pets. A moth? But there are MANY here who love them. Crabs? I’d never tame a crab. Yuck, but for some people they are their faves. Turtles? While I like the look I don’t run around with one, but my own guild leader’s lvl 70 has a turtle named Horatio.
“OMG!!! NEW PET!! Awwww everyone will tame it so I don’t want it” is just not true. Some people will tame some new pets and some not. The Devilsaurs that lots and lots of people are so hot and wet for, don’t do much for me. I think they’re neat but I’ve got no plans to tame one. The worms? Same thing. Chimera? I think are ugly. I’ll probably tame a silithid (( because I’m a BM spec and it’ll go nicely with my ravager)) but some won’t.
There are 100s of different pets to tame and choose. You’re not going to see everyone with the same pet in wrath. People like different things.
Wow that is pertty… Now of course because 75% of the hunter community might want one of these they will nerf it back to demon… much like the amani war bears…
I’d very much like these dreadhound-model wolves to remain tameable - but warning bells sound when I read above that it was flagged undead originally - and that other creatures of a similar model were flagged demons (like the usual old world dreadhounds) - I do wonder whether someone had it on their list to set the undead blighthounds to demons, and pulled the wrong creature type from the list.
But if they remain tameable, by popular demand, that would be very nice.
Kurasu: Ceron mentioned animations in his original report but I didn’t think to copy that to this post. Yes, they do seem to have some run animation peculiarities — like the ghost wolf.
HEY will some1 please check if phase-hunter in arcatraz is tameable PLEASE!!!!!! that’s an awesome skin or tell me if another warpstalker has that skin… AND some1 please tell blizzard to give some other creatures an awesome skin like this (armored hyena’s would be AWESOME!!!)
BUT THANK’S TO CERON FOR THIS GREAT UPDATE AND EVERY1 PRAY THIS STAYS!!!
The wasps in Zangarmarsh are still “Not Specified” so they can not be tamed
If this is mistake, I wonder if the older Azeroth EPL and Undercity area (forgot the name) have tameable demon hounds too. I gotta say i love that rune-covered skin. I think it may be a mistake though, if they have a run-animation problem like the ghost wolf.
sweet baby raptor jesus… I hope they stay tamable.
crap hit enter to early. one of those suckers would go nicely as Mae’s back story is that her dad was a demon on the run.
First let me say that I am just super happy that they are making all pets viable to play with although some will have cooler abilities than others. There are all sorts of neat looking skins on spiders but they have never been a pet that was very good to play with.
Second I also really hope this skin stays tameable, but if not there are other great looking wolf out there and I am looking forward to having one again. The first pet I sought out as a teenage hunter was a worg from sfk (yes I am alliance), then they went and normalized pets and screwed things all up but I digress.
Thanks for all the great work you guys are doing in beta.
Tbh, I don’t think its a bug. It has proper talents of a Ferocity pet, which is the same tree Wolves are in. Also, they don’t seem buggy outside of running speed/pursuit speed, which Chimeras have a similar problem with (range check on froststorm makes them stutter step to the target while checking for range). Maybe its me being optimistic. Anyways, I’ve put in feedback for the blue runed ones with the same skin to become tamable. We’ll see what happens.
Not saying it’s NOT a bug… but.. we didn’t used to be able to tame Devilsaurs…. or Slithids.. or Worms… or Chimera… and we got them in a trickel here and there…
Kurasu, good point to make.
Eh, I don’t think I’m gonna Tame 1 of these. And I totally agree, with posts of “brand-new-pets-everyone-has-1″, “different-play-styles”, ect! I am definitely, 1 of the 1st things I’m gonna do, gonna get myself an Epic, white Devilsaur. And these “wolves”, if left as is, are, doubtfully, gonna be “THE mains” here.
Ive Never posted here before. BUT DAMN I LOVE THAT WOLF!! Ive wanted one every since i saw them eons ago but they were untamaable. I HOPE they stay Tameable!!
Thanks, Mania. I didn’t think to check about the other posting. :D But the fact that they have a bugged animation is, for me, a red flag that they weren’t made to be tameable. Here’s hoping that the animation will be fixed, rather than the pet be removed, but until this definitely hits live, I’m not going to be overly hopeful.
… if only because I *really* want one for my Surv, and getting hopeful will get me all disappointed if they remove it.
Heck, I don’t even care if they don’t stay tamable - I’d be happy just to see more of these running around the place. Er, when I’m not having to peel them off and keep them from chewing my face off. That is a lovely design - I really like those circular markings.
You know, that is the great thing about hunters. There’s enough folk out that that must have a new skin, so that the rest of us can sit back and just enjoy.
…And start counting our stable slots and wonder if eventually that 4 will seem too few! Heh.
PepsiJedi:
You said it much better than i could. I think some of the new pets look cool, but I haven’t seen any I plan on taming. I will stick with my Zarakh Spider (named Arachniphobe) and my blue scorpion (named Thoth). I don’t plan on taming any of the new stuff, but there are “old” pets that i want to use to fill my stable with. I still want the silver gorilla. After that, I have two open slots to tame something that catches my eye while I am playing. Come to think of it,I won;t waste the talent points on the 51 point “tame exotic” talent. I can use it on other things to make myself (and thus, making my old pets) more powerful. Still,I do feel that is players don;t want the exotics, and they want to get the 51 point talent, reward them for it by giving their old pets beefed up abilites. I still think that “exotics” will be a lot more powerful, so give the “old” pets some new abilities for getting the 51 point talent. Unless maggots do become tamable, or unless my old pets get new abilites, the “exotic” talent just won’t be worth it to me.
I’m worried that it is a bug. They are so obviously not beasts (burning feet, glowing rune markings ((which I LOVE!)) and a glowing snout) that it is unlikely that Blizz meant for them to be tameble. After seeing the Ghost wolf get wisked away, I wouldn’t start putting posters on your walls.
But still.
That is one freaking awesome beast. If he is indeed tameble when the game is released, I know two hunters that will bee-line strate towards it. Thanks much, Ceron, for finding it, and thanks much Mania for communicating it to the hunter community. =^.^=
@38:
What I said is that demon hounds would become A majority if not THE majority - not sure who said that “everyone” will have one but it wasn’t me.
Now, why would demon hounds potentially (dramatically) outperform warp stalkers and other “cool” pets in the hunter polls? Because they have something very obvious that no other hunter pet does - energy effects.
Not just glowing eyes - glowing runes, glowing breath wheezing out of their snouts and most dramatically burning feet a la felsteed. This thing would look right at home with a warlock.
The only other pet even on the same wavelength in re: energy effects was the spirit wolf. Which was why people would go to such insane lengths to get that pet and why Blizzard chose to yank it before the situation got out of hand.
I said it before: I hope they do keep these as tameable, but wouldn’t exactly be stunned if they hit it with the spirit wolf nerf stick either… we’ll just have to wait and see!
Oh yes - no points for saying “Arikara” or that black warp stalker; I’m talking about energy effects that are permanently on display not just a nice entrance animation. :)
Oh man, I hope these stay tameable. I really do–I want the mage hunter skin SO bad, and I know with the changes to Furious Howl and wolves becoming Ferocity I may need to get a wolf for raiding.
Anyone in beta check to see if hellboars in hellfire penninsula got changed to beasts or at least tameable? That and the plaguehounds in EPL?
oh yeah, can’t forget basilisks of any kind
it looks to nice.its probubly a bug.i probubly wouldnt get one if it stayed, but heres hopeing they dont nurf this one to…
Sexy…..which is why it has to be a mistake.
I know for me, *I* want a bunch of the exotic pets. Which is why I’m presently powerleveling a Beastmaster. Because I prefer my raiding alt to stay Survival and be a living raid-buff, while still having the ability to run around with all my new pets.
Already planning on getting my BM a Devilsaur and a Silithid (two pets I’ve been wanting for you-don’t-know-how-long), and we’ll see what other fun stuff comes out for me to play with with him. Meanwhile, the raiding alt can be satisfied with filling his stables with solid raid-pets. Sounds like it’s perfect for me!
I’ve always wanted to tame one of the demon hounds ever since I saw them in Tirisfal! If these stay tameable, though I doubt it, I would snatch one in an instant!
But sadly I bet this is going to have #1 for why they’re tameable and get hotfixed next beta patch.
But I wish it stays tameable <3
@Makoes
I think the main reason why the warp stalkers went down in popularity was due to the lowest tameable ones being caster stat pets, which most people still don’t know about. So they tried using them, found out they sucked, and then applied that thought to all warp stalkers.
I did tame one when I hit 63, fully knowing they had caster stats (thanks to Mania’s Petopia), and played around with it through leveling up to 64. It did reach loyalty level 6 some time before I dinged 64. Once I got that level, I went to tame a warp hunter that has melee stats. End result? While only loyalty level 1 and having nothing else trained aside Growl and Warp, it was doing as much, if not a wee bit more, damage than the fully trained one I had before, tooks hits better too, and held aggro more.
As for those new wolves, they do look quite awesome. Still, I already made my choices of pets, and unless something pretty impressive comes out, I won’t tame anything new. =P
The way I see it, if it IS a mistake it will be taken care of in their nexts build on the Beta. If it’s not, we get another rather interesting Pet for many to drool over. I honestly don’t care much for them, though the Runes and effects look VERY interesting on it and if it’s nerfed heck I’ll be happy just SEEING it out in the world.
And as someone stated it might have animation glitches but there is also the Chimaera, and Worms that do the stop/go run for range and stuff. It could VERY WELL be kept tameable (And if everyone keeps suggesting it, it might)if WotlK goes live. I myself am a Beast Master/Survival Hybrid. I might dock myself and finally go to a full 51 point talent tree in Lich King but yet I also might not. I love Devilsaurs, ALWAYS wanted one as a lowbie hunter so this made my dreams come true. As well as Basalisks. And yes, if it does STAY I know a lot of people will be going MUST HAVE but not EVERYONE on the planet like some think. Everyone has their faves, everyone has their hates, and everyone has their own style. I mean even if this COMES up I don’t think it will be more popular over the new riding spotted cat model they have up.
A lot of people have already gone about checking the other demon hounds I believe. Most of them I think are still demons but who knows, they might change a couple *shrugs*
Can wasps in zangarmarsh be tamed? Seeing as those hive insects, scorpids, moths can etc, I would love to see wasps tameable. Still looking for a answer from someone on beta !!
@ tony
Not currently. They aren’t classified as anything yet.
what needs to be a epic win untameable pet is the mana wyrm
i mean dreaneis get ravagers , but we get cats
Have you guys tried worgens? I do hope they are tameable… :P
@petmania
You do know they are humanoids right? Not only that, they are a subrace like goblins and such and have heavy lore. I doubt that will ever happen though. Playable Worgen?…maybe :-P
A Worgon Hunter with a Wolf pet?
Being a wolf fine, I like the look. However, I think it could do to be a different family from the wolves, with their own family ability. I don’t think it was an accident, Blizzard did say there’d be new pets, and new families in Wrath. So I believe it will stay.
That, or some one punched in the wrong number on a spread sheet some where….
wolf FAN* Dog gone it….
are mana wyrms tameble?
I say they fit more as an Hyena than wolfs…
just tamed one in Zul`Drak, you can find them in Thrym`s End and are level 74.
OOOOoooooooh Warlocks are gonna be jealousssssssss XD
Awwww…Its soooooooooooo cuuuuuuuttttteeeeeee!!! I want one now!! Dont make it Exotic or take it away Blizzard or I’ll blow your company up!
The blue mage hunters look way cooler! :D
http://i278.photobucket.com/albums/kk112/Meh_110/wotlkx7zzzmo2-1.jpg
I hope this stays and I hope they make the other colors tamable!
stays tamable^ >>
Anybody tried Nethermine Flayers (and other Stonescythes) so far? Well… they are beasts…
I can’t see these making it to the live release as tameable to be honest. For the same reason they took away the Grimtotem Spirit Guide.
I’m actually expecting them to use the new pet training method as an excuse to take away those of us who still have ghost puppies by saying they’re “inccompatible” or some other rubbish.
@DeluksZ:
Nethermine Flayers are still not tameable.
I hope all the darkhounds are tamable. when i was a noob tauren hunter i went to tirisfal glades just to see the “beast can not be tamed”.
Perhaps the whole Darkhound/Demon Dog family could be added (tameable by everyone) with their own Demon something-or-other ability.
But why they maybe wolves: Darkhounds drop stringy wolf meat.
@Rasen
i half expect that to.gonna checking mine befor i use my copy of the expansion.
hopefully they wont mess with the wolves again…
@Meh
i kinda like the green one myself.not to fond of the shoulder circles, but the rest of it is nice…
Well we all know blizzard, so im not gunna say *i hope its not a bug* becuase knowing blizz it almost has to be… but if im wrong (and i hope i am) im gettin a blue one and naming it frostfire. Much to the “enjoyment” of mages =]
I predict that Blizz will give this to the Locks like they gave the spirit wolf to the Shammys.
i wish this wasnt beta so we could quickly snach them up befor blizz nerf it or maby it will make it into live who knows :P maby if we keep it hush hush blizz wont realise
Hyenas don’t have a jumping animation thing.
i went to go tame BUT! they were level 74 :/ and im 72 :/
@ Kristy
My hyena does have jumping animations. They actually have the same animation move list as the coyote model for wolves. However my warp stalker does not have jumping animations, and man does it look stupid when I make it jump using Eyes of the Beast. /cry
At one time, nearly all pets didn’t have jumping animations. At some point, Blizz added swimming, jump, and direcion animations for nearly all pets, but the newer ones (Warp stalker, for example) don’t yet have them.
That’s true Wolfington, but I honestly think Blizzard should get their act together and give all proper animations to all pets. Still taking the warp stalker as an example, while it doesn’t have a jumping animation, it does have a swimming one. O.o
I don’t know if anyone else has checked on all of these yet - but I took my hunter to the Borean area where the blue and ones of these are and they gave me a mouseover of demon - and I couldn’t do beast lore on them. I’m wondering if anyone else had the same thing happen? Will pop by tomorrow and try to tame one, just to see if it works - am betting no.
The orange and black ones are in the death knight starting area, so I’ve not had my hunter over there yet.
To Shin, sorry, my bad. I like the jumping animation thing on it. hehe
And I remember the update patch for pets “swimming animations”. That was cool. But I must’ve not seen the patch where the other kinds of pet animations got updated too though. hehe
Check wild elekks, clefthoofs & basilisks, plz!
I reeeeeeeeaaaaaaaaaly NEED basilisks, hydras and deviate pythons, they r sooooooo cool! (im a HUUUUGE fan of reptiles in case u havent noticed) :)
Are these still tameable or have they already removed them from our possible lineup?
GOD DAMMIT ARE MANA WYRMS OR WRYMS TAMEBLE OR NOT!!!!!!!?!??!!??!?!?!?!?!?!?!?!?!?
NO HAS RESPONDED TO MY QUESTION YET! ITS MAKING ME MAD!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
*slowly move away, one step at a time, from the topic*
wait i need a really good question are core hounds tameable
landonC: We’re checking all the creatures every chance we get. If there isn’t a post on the front page titled “OMG I TAMED A MANA WYRM!” then either they can’t be tamed at this point or it just changed and we haven’t seen it yet. But believe me, we’re testing everything we can find and we’ll share it with you as soon as we find something new. :>
mr. or mrs. mania im sorry i was stressed out at that time i am so very sorry
p.s im a little 13 yr old boy and i stayed up at 5:00 the morning
landonC: It’s okay. I wasn’t yelling. :> We’re all anxious to learn what’s going to be tameable and what’s not. On the one hand, beta is a fun period of seeing what happens — on the other hand I rather wish it would hurry up so we’d *know*, you know?
man i so want to be in the beta a tame a slithid
and thanks mania.
lol are you going to tame a pink tallstrider like your icon because blizzard said that when you tame a lvl 1 or any thing it lvl up five levels under your and the pets talent are there to, but they also said that if you a lvl 70 and you tame a 64 the level stays 64 right?
Sooooo, any updates on these guys? :o
landonC, turquoise tallstrider with orange neek better (http://wotlk.wowhead.com/?npc=2172)
I wanna tame a Yeti.
This must be a bug or something…Demon HOunds are clearly…demons…. Now, is this a prelude to a hero class, Demon Hunter? Cuz that would be cool. Demon Hunter hero class is the reason I rolled hunter way way way back. Course, I abandoned that silly dream, and fell in love with hunters.
Oh my god, if these stay hunter pets, I will be pleasantly surprised and will definitely be grabbing one of these up.
It’s too sexy to not be a pet! Note to self: Tame one on my Blood Elf if Blizzard is nice enough to keep them around as pets. If not, complain.
Mania I am confused about a detail what exactly is an exotic pet?
That is pretty dam cool alright!
So far more excited about this than any of the exotic pets lol.
Now just make the Kurken tamable Blizz, come on you know you want to!!!!! (oh and Zhevra’s too…)
Beastkeepa: Exotic pets are a new addition in the Wrath of the Lich King (WotLK) expansion. (WotLK is currently in beta, so when we talk about exotics we are only talking about the beta realms, not the live realms).
Exotic pets are new pet families that can only be tamed by hunters that have bought the talent at the very top of the Beast Mastery tree. For example, devilsaurs are exotic pets and can only be tamed if you have that talent. Moths, on the other hand, are a new normal (non-exotic) family — any hunter can tame them, just like cats and wolves and such.
“sweet baby raptor jesus”
You, sir, have just written the funniest four words I have read today.
Ah thank you mania :)
It is a very amazing-looking creature, and grats to Hunters for being able to pick it up… but I am strongly sensing that it might be something Blizzard will renege on later on (which would be a shame). They might even use the excuse that it looks more like a Warlock pet, or that it should be a demon, ect…
We’ll see what time brings, eh?
I’d really want one of these for my hunter too - I hope they stay tameable, but wouldn’t be surprised if they were reverted before my girl got old enough to get one.
I’d prefer the blue - but a purple flavor would totally rock.
I seriously want the blue version of the hound to be tamable. It was a demon last time I attempted to tame one <.<; Hopefuly Bliz will look into allowing this.
