Name That Pet: Tedorus’ Boar

Tedorus & BoarFinal Name: Ironsides

Today we have a special treat! A dwarf hunter named Tedorus sent me not just a normal name request, but a lovely photo collage!

You really need to see these pictures at full size, so click on the small version on the right to see the full-sized collage.

And in case anyone is having difficulty with the text on the collage, I’ll repeat what Tedorus wrote on the collage.

Tedorus says:

This here is my boar. I’m Tedorus, the dwarf next to him. However I can’t find a fitting name for my boar. I really like combo-names, like Silverpaw (my cat) and Bluetooth (my snake).

Tedorus is a smart but lazy dwarf who likes to hunt on wild animals or frosttrolls. He loves the nature and the silence, he also fishes a lot and he can be a good cook. His boar is very loyal to him and he’s almost always hungry, his favourite thing to do is to go for a swim in the nearby Iceflow Lake.

Well, I’ll set out a lil’ assortment of ideas for ‘mashed’ names that I hope will help ^_^

    Prefixes:
    Iron, Steel, Stone, Frost, …
    Suffixes:
Hide, Spine, Flank, Pig/Swine/etc, Tusk, Snout, …

Comes up with things like StoneTusk, IronSnout, FrostFlank, whatever you manage (and not just limited to the above) =D

    Again, hope this helps!

  10. Deòraidh - August 13th, 2008 @ 6:16 pm EDT

my favorite name for a boar: Madmartigan

    It’s from willow.

  11. Pythia - August 13th, 2008 @ 6:19 pm EDT

Mine is named Baldric, from the Black Adder TV show.

Best boars in the game. I painstakingly got mine when I was 70 and leveled him up into a charging, killing machine.

My favorite pig name is Truffle. I also think Spam is a cute name for a pig.

  12. Dweezill - August 13th, 2008 @ 6:22 pm EDT

I have a pet pot belly pig and I named him Fluffy. Also, it was the name of Cartman’s pot belly pig on South Park. doesn’t fit the “two word” name scheme you have going, but I like Fluffy.

  13. Tvae - August 13th, 2008 @ 6:24 pm EDT

    Razorback, Ironback, or Ironhide.

  14. Phiamaar - August 13th, 2008 @ 6:38 pm EDT

    Hungryham

Just ’cause I’m a lazy hunter, I like my cat(Rak’Shiri)and my owl “WindDeath”. Cat’s named just forgot it for the moment.

  15. zifero - August 13th, 2008 @ 7:15 pm EDT

    Froststeel or Frosthide…just a thought.

  16. Jesper Fransson - August 13th, 2008 @ 8:13 pm EDT

    I’d vote for Frosthide ^_^

  17. Jesper Fransson - August 13th, 2008 @ 8:14 pm EDT

    Or Razorhide

(Razorback dosen’t sound as “cool” ^_^)

  18. blah - August 13th, 2008 @ 8:36 pm EDT

    Leadbelly

  19. Seveil - August 13th, 2008 @ 8:53 pm EDT

    Battlegore, Razormane, Steeltusk

    Or maybe “Glutton”, hehe.

Ironhide is good, if it’s not blocked due to copyright :)

    Hamshanks

  24. Solarshot - August 14th, 2008 @ 12:18 am EDT

Pigleet its a leet pig and its just a baby to = )

  25. Kettu - August 14th, 2008 @ 12:18 am EDT

    My suggestions for combo names are;

    - Baconshanks (This is my one “silly” suggestion. >.>)
    - Blitzhoof
    - Bristleback
    - Ebonhoof
    - Flyswatter (Cause ya know… his tail and what not… yeah…)
    - Hambuckle (I have no idea where I got that one.)
    - Ironsnout
    - Ivorytusk
    - Steelhock

    @ Niabi

You know, I like the name “Eisenschweine” quite a bit. I’m planning on making a Dwarven huntress with a Germanic naming scheme. If you don’t mind, could I possibly use that? :)

  26. Lucasta - August 14th, 2008 @ 2:23 am EDT

    @ Kettu

That would be “Eisenschwein” , cause “Eisenschweine ” is plural.

  27. Kettu - August 14th, 2008 @ 2:28 am EDT

Ah my bad. Bleh, note to self… Take German classes.

  28. Siela - August 14th, 2008 @ 4:31 am EDT

    HogginDazs ( A little spin-off of Häagen-Dazs :] )
Saw someone running around with their pet named that, and I just love that name to pieces.

  29. Niabi - August 14th, 2008 @ 5:21 am EDT

@ Kettu, I am so happy you liked one of my suggestions :-) Take it, it’s yours.

@ Lucasta, Thank you for clarifying the interpretation of the spelling — I used an online translator by typing in the words “Iron” and “Swine” and the result of which is what you see in my earlier post.

  30. Keilden - August 14th, 2008 @ 6:10 am EDT

    Stridsgris

  31. Gutler - August 14th, 2008 @ 9:46 am EDT

My first pet on my hunter was a boar and i named him BaconBits.

  32. Blasterion - August 14th, 2008 @ 12:58 pm EDT

    Feltusk

  33. Aroinak - August 14th, 2008 @ 2:56 pm EDT

I’d vote for either Ironhide or Razorhide. I like Ironhide.

  34. Wolfington - August 14th, 2008 @ 4:04 pm EDT

    Darkiron
    Blacktusk
    Pinetusk
    Ironheart

    Nice boar

  35. Tashi - August 14th, 2008 @ 9:16 pm EDT

    Isn’t a Bluetooth a phone? Just a thought :P
I do like Ironhide, but I don’t however like to refer to the pig as bacon, ham, or pork, because I wouldn’t want him to live in fear of being my next meal… lol
I think his name should be ICEFLOW, after the lake he likes to swim in.
    I did my best ^__^

  36. Lona - August 15th, 2008 @ 5:28 am EDT

If I ever tame a boar again, I would name him “Squiker” ;)

  37. Paytonater - August 15th, 2008 @ 5:32 pm EDT

I called my my boar “Kitty” but may i also suggest pigzilla

  38. Zurro - August 15th, 2008 @ 6:44 pm EDT

  39. Solarshot - August 16th, 2008 @ 10:30 am EDT

also if you plan to raid and use that pet to do it at 70 name him after yourself cause some bad damage meters mold ur pet and u if its named after yourself, and it helpes in arenas.

  40. Tedorus - August 18th, 2008 @ 1:28 am EDT

Thanks everyone! I love those names you made for my boar. I especially like the names like Ironsides, Baldric, Platetusk, Iceflow and the suggestions of Ankihe. I liked the “snout and belly” suggestions aswell but I don’t think I’ll name my pet after a piece of meat ;P. I’m gonna think about this and post my decision tomorrow. Thanks everyone!

  41. Tedorus - August 20th, 2008 @ 10:15 am EDT

Well I’m a day later then I promised but I deciced to name my boar Ironsides. Thanks Pouncival ;D

  42. Infares - August 31st, 2008 @ 5:37 am EDT

I have an orange pig with a yellow mane named Snarf.

    Seemed rather appropriate.
