I got a bit distracted this weekend, I’m afraid (and just a little bit ill), and I didn’t get the new info on chimeras up on Petopia until late today. I’m still digging through my e-mail trying to rally everything else I need to post as well.
But thankfully I still have an immense backlog of cool things that other people have written that I want to share with you, so I don’t look like I’m completely slacking.
Pike at Aspect of the Hare has written an excellent multi-post series called “So You Want to Play a Hunter”. There are five parts so far, and I believe there’s more coming. So keep an eye on it!
- So You Want to Play a Hunter? Part 1 – Intro, creating your hunter.
- So You Want to Play a Hunter? Part 2 – The first five levels.
- So You Want to Play a Hunter? Part 3 – Levels 6 to 10.
- So You Want to Play a Hunter? Part 4 – Talent points and taming a pet.
- So You Want to Play a Hunter? Part 5 – Life with a pet.
In addition to that magnum opus:
- Bremm’s Musings posted Hunter 101: A Primer.
- Drotara at Less QQ, More Pew Pew built a nifty little Shot Damage Calculator for level 70 hunters.
- Aspect of the Capricious takes on the tricky question of what the current pet skills really do.
- The Kitty Collector has a nice comparison of the Barrens vs. the Ghostlands for young hunters.
On the fun side:
- Mama Druid made me feel a bit less silly for checking out what all the NPCs are wearing.
- Faradhim at Doctors of Philosophy linked to a neat site that lets you make your own motivational posters from (for instance) WoW screenshots.
There! That should keep you guys busy for a bit while I try to catch up. :>
Oh! And before I forget (again!) — did you see that Breanni, creator of the great non-combat pet site Warcraft Pets, made it into Wrath of the Lich King as an NPC? She hangs out in Dalaran and sell pet toys! I wave at her every time I hearthstone in.
(To be perfectly honest, I’d be rather creeped out if I had an NPC named after me. But I think it’s great that Blizzard recognizes how important sites like Warcraft Pets are to the WoW community.)
Wow; thanks for the linkage, Mania. Although I did it to satisfy my own curiosity, it’s nice to know other people like it. :D
There should be a Horde Hunter trainer named “Mania”.
It’s really neat that Blizzard does stuff like that. Yay Breanni! And thank you for the links! Every time you link to me, my Sitemeter floods =P
Get well soon, Mania! Take it easy. :)
I think it’s great that Breanni is in the game. I’m still hoping for a Mania or Kaet pet trainer or stable master. ;)
I am feeling better now, thank you. :>
That’s very cool about Breanni – I can’t wait to pay her a visit ingame. Thanks again for the link Mania!
Thanks for the shout out Mania. Which beta server does your husband happen to be on? I get to start my adventures in Northrend this evening. :)
Drotara: I think you have me mixed up with batgrl. :> My husband doesn’t much play WoW, although I do maintain an account for him for those rare times when I can talk him into it. My account is is the beta, though — I have three characters on Northrend, the PvE beta realm.

Oops, I guess I was just confused about the posts on the blog about Ghostcrawler and what not. I feel silly. :)
Well, I transferred over Drotara to Northrend, as well as my Alliance Warrior (Aratar) and Warlock (Arathos). I guess I’ll see you in-game. :)
Drotara: Completely understandable. :> But definitely look me up — I copied Kaet on the Alliance side and two copies of Mania (as Mania and Maniacal) on the Horde side.
Hey..Mama Durids site..Why does the charecter modles look so good?? is that becasue she is in the beta or is that just what it looks like with graphics all the way up?.
Oh and Mania…awesome work again! :)
Shadowkaizen: I think that’s a screenshot from live, so I believe it’s just the graphics turned up.
And thanks. :>
