I was wrong.. there are Gryphons that are neutral to Alliance - 'Wild Gryphon' at the entrance to Hinterlands from Hillsbrad Foothills.

Here's a wild idea... one I am sure will NOT be added... but it would be fun. All the little critters that people use as target practice (cows, snakes, frogs, skunks, squirrels... the list goes on), why not make it so hunters can trap them and sell them as "vanity companion pets". It would be kinda nice for hunters to have a way to make a little extra cash at auction. besides, the vanity pets I would like are never at auction. just thought that may be kinda fun. I know, it has nothing to do with this, but still,I like the idea.

I'd like the option to be able to tame more things even if some people may never want them. Nothing wrong in having more choice available.

Hell, I'd even try one of those snakes you can get in WC (for example)

Really, being a mount shouldn't necessarily exclude a beast from being tamable though. Netherrays, cats, wolves and raptors are all tamable and mounts.

Since the 2.4 patch, dragonhawks are used as both pets and mounts along with bats. That said, I also don't expect to see gryphons, wyverns or hippogryphs as pets - there are more interesting options out there.

Seidouyumi - The Wildhammer faction was removed a while ago, and they were incorporated into the alliance so currently all gryphons are alliance friendly. I don't think Gryphs or Wyverns or Hippogryphs should be tamable since they already serve as faction taxis and are already mounts ingame. The odd exception to this ofcourse are the giant bats that serve as undead taxis, but my guess is that these are far too big to be pets and the bats that are tamable atm are the max managable size ( but then we get devilsaurs...gah well that puts a spin on it).

... but... Pinky's intelligent, and tameable.
I'll hear nothing about pinky not being intelligent! :)

(Pinky being the pink plainstrider, at least thats what I've been told he's called by my fiancee)
More like beaten into submission...

Darknez-

Chimaerae are listed as 'sentient', but not intellegent. They do have a strong bond with the Night Elves and are extremely territorial. They do tend to protect areas, and once protected Nordrassil.

I read somewhere that Chimera are guardians of nature, friendly with night elves... however I've never seen a nice one in the game!
Whether that classes them as intelligent I don't know...

I don't know if deer/horse-like animals would be tameable, but I'm all for variety.
We shall see soon enough...

Of the non-tameable beasts out there I would say that the probabilities are good for Chimerae, Hydrae, Basilisks, Diemetridons, Mana Wyrms, Worms, Pterrodaxes, Stags, Talbuks, Tripods, and Zhevra.

Another thing about Gryphons, Hippogryphons and Wyverns is that they are all highly intellegent creatures. They are either on par with, or just below human intellegence and, thus, would not be tameable. Typically, Wind Riders and Gryphon Riders form life long bonds with them from birth in order to be able to ride them.
