Petopia Updated with Beta 8681 Info

I’ve updated Petopia with the pet talent changes we saw in last night’s 8681 beta build. I’ve also tried to clean up the pet talent section and make it a bit easier to read. The graphical charts will be coming back as soon as I get them updated. But let me know what you think of the organization for the moment.

I also cleaned up the family skill section a few days ago, and this morning I added the devilsaur family skill. (For now, I am just treating devilsaurs as a new family.) Devilsaurs are also on the new pet page as well. I still have more pets to add and/or modify based on info sitting in my mailbox right now. That should keep me busy until lunch. *grin*

I had my doubts about the Devilsaurs but I guess I was wrong. I’ve said before that the new 51 BM talent isn’t something I really want but it is kinda cool. I’d personally like to see Pterrordax become tamable.

I want to tame King Mosh jk have you read the thottbot notes on that guy? Might as well take him off the tamable list unless you use the ghost wolf strategy.

    Very nice!

Mania, you forgot to put the Devilsaur in the focus dump list on Petopia. Dunno where to alert that, so im doing it here. I figure they’d have bite, would like to see it claw with those little paws :P

Nice work so far :) Really anxious to see the next exotic :) (hopes for two-headed dog)

I have to join with everyone else in saying great work and thank you! Speaking for many, I’m sure, we really appreciate all of your work.

    Mania-

I look at all the work you’re doing and wonder when you’re getting to sleep and eat. Thanks for the work though :)

Sigh. . .I read over what I wrote and it sounded a bit flippant at the end. That was not the intention. My English grammer is sometimes a bit, well, rough.

Confess now, Mania – how long have you been sitting on those Devilsaur images praying that one day you’d get a chance to post them?

Is there any increases in pet buff or are the devilsaurs gonna be like a normal raptor? If theres an increase I may have to get one………..Tyrantus here I come! lol

i would like to get some info on the ghostwolf pet. do you have one or no someone in the beta that has one? i really want to keep mine, so i’d like to know if he is still there and if he is transitioned over to the new system or if he will suddenly disappear or be unfeedable… the exotic pets seem to be so cool that im going to clear my other two stable spots though …byebye humar :)

Hmm – some more investigation for you Beta-testers if you’ve the chance.
Post no. 19 on this thread http://forums.wow-europe.com/thread.html;jsessionid=DF404CF15CB89C4ADB90F58B422B7270.app06_03?topicId=5102273326&sid=1&pageNo=1 suggests that Dust Cloud (tallstrider), Bad Attitude (Crocalisk) and Nether Shock (Netheray) have all been nerfed in the recent update. Any confirmation?

    and Pin (crab), sorry

Don’t forget to add Chimera (Chimaera?) as a new pet family: –

“Froststorm Breath” appears to be it’s family trait?

Can you confirm something about the Crocidile’s ability Bad Attitude — it appears to be similar to the warrior’s Retaliation ability.

Does it have a set number of charges? Or does it retaliate constantly for two minutes? Is there a mandatory delay between retaliation strikes?

I currently use a bat for AoE tanking while grinding, and I’m trying to figure out what the best AoE tank is going to be. Bear vs. Croc seems to be the matchup.

  18. Palladiamors - July 30th, 2008 @ 11:15 am UTC

Ugh, Bradagore, I hope that thread is wrong, otherwise nether rays and crocs just got screwed hard. Personally I think all three of the possibly nerfed pets NEEDED strong abilities, having been on the back burner for so long. And honestly I’d take a one second silence for the nether ray on a 30/20 second cooldown over a two second silence on a 100/40 second cooldown any day.

  19. Palladiamors - July 30th, 2008 @ 11:16 am UTC

Zefram, from the videos I have seen the crocs bad attitude constantly counters everything, no cooldown, for a two minute time period. That may or may not have changed in the last patch, still trying to dig up if it has or not.

  20. Palladiamors - July 30th, 2008 @ 11:24 am UTC

Sorry Zefram, counters physical melee attacks. And UGH, if they nerfed pin that badly I am going to be angry. But so far WoWhead is confirming the changes, which isn’t reassuring me. If these changes did go through, it’d be nice if the hunters in beta could start a ruckus. Thats just lousy, to give those families something really nice, then make it into meh-ish.

  21. Zefram - July 30th, 2008 @ 11:29 am UTC

Looks like croc’s retaliate just got nerfed to 45 secs as well.

Bah, for a while I thought things were going to be different.

While we’re talking beta, is levelling/XP going to change? Currently levelling with two pets is possible (takes about half a level per), but with 3 permanent pets, are they making levelling faster?

  23. Soleil - July 30th, 2008 @ 1:47 pm UTC

I can confirm the Ghostwolf pet is working in the Beta he transitioned as a normal member of the wolf family, at least for now…

  24. drektharr - July 30th, 2008 @ 5:08 pm UTC

    phew :-)
