Community Round-Up: Tools, Guides & Lists

I’m sure many of you have already heard about this, but the folks behind the Twisted Nether blogcast have set up a Twisted Nether Wiki of WoW blogs and utility sites. Next time you need something to read, just head on over and take your pick from the smorgasbord of WoW goodness.

A hunter named Tyrae let me know that he’s put together a site called Ferocious Inspiration that highlights “information on end game content through the eyes of a BM hunter”. I don’t do a lot of end-game content myself but I know a lot of you do, so check it out and let me know how it is.

Mugungo let me know about a neat little thing he found that might be helpful if you are looking for a pet or character name. It takes a word and sort of … turns it sideways to create another word. It’s odd, but interesting. Be aware, however, that sometimes the words it comes up with are somewhat embarrassing.

And here are some links to posts I marked in my blog reader that I thought were cool. (You know, I really need to remember to do these community posts more often. Some of these are more than a month old.)

  • The Great Green Hunter ran into some interesting aggro behavior with Sporeling Snacks.
  • 35 Yards Out got reminiscing about some of the worst memories of a young hunter.
  • Almost Evil shared a really useful tip for bringing up a small zone map. I’d never heard of this before, but considering how often I get lost I’ve started using it all the time.
  • Pike at Aspect of the Hare posted part II of a series on hunter stats. Both parts are very useful.
  • Drotara at Less QQ, More PewPew posted a really nice 1-30 leveling guide for hunters.
  • Mama Druid posted a partial list of bloggers who don’t raid. (I know exactly how she feels. I enjoy reading many blogs about raiding, but I do sometimes feel a bit of an outsider.)

I fixed the Ferocious Inspiration link — thanks for letting me know it was broken.

The Public Test Realms aren’t currently up — they only bring them up when there is a patch they need tested.

As always, thanks for the link, Mania. :) And thanks for the WotLK updates. I’m looking forward to what it has in store.

I just read the Sporeling Snack thing. Now THAT explains a lot as to why I sometime took aggro from my pet for no apparent reasons. x_x

What a nice surprise for a Monday morning! Thank you Mania. The new comments generated by your link here have provided me with more “non-raider” blogs to investigate. :)
