PetEmote 1.5 Needs Your Help

Jorna, the brains behind the wonderful WoW add-on PetEmote, wrote yesterday to let me know that the newest version is almost done.

PetEmote 1.5 is just some days away from its official release. I began asking for help in the new dynamic emote configuration system on Blizzard’s Roleplay Forum as I did the last time. Release date will be at the end of the week (until Friday I hope, maybe Sunday, belongs to the community’s response).

So what kind of help is Jorna looking for? Well:

PetEmote 1.5 uses a new emote configuration system, which allows our pets to do their things in different ways. Unfortunately, this will make it a bit harder to build your own emotes. For that reason, I wrote a tutorial and created a dummy file, to hide as much complicated code from your eyes as possible.

I ask you to read my tutorial (and give me feedback, of course) and try to write a configuration of your favourite pet. For the first release of PetEmote 1.5 I’d like to have some bulky configurations for most wanted pet families - cats, ravagers, erm… bears?

So if you have the time and the inclination, you should definitely try your hand at the new system (and incidentally help Jorna out). It sounds really, really cool.

Other new features in PetEmote 1.5 include:

  • Emotes can be defined with conditions, which allows us to get emotes depending on the pet’s (or even player’s) gender, on the current target or pet happiness (which is not so important as in 1.4).
  • File structure has changed - now there is a file for everyone to write his own emotes. This is also a part of the tutorial.
  • You can define emotes not even by pet family, but also by pet name. That means, your bear Scrubby can have its own set of emotes, which no other bear you tamed can use.
  • There is a key binding now to trigger random emotes whenever you need them.
  • Did I say that Warlock’s Pets are well supported now?
  • Of course, many changes and bugfixes have been made to make this cute addon better.

I can’t wait to see it!

I’m certainly looking forward to seeing this new addon. I love Pet Emote, but I always hated that it called my cat a girl. I was prepared for him to turn around and try to eat my face for making him emit that publicly to people. /shifty-eyes

I stumbled across PetEmote not long back and even though it’s not a vital mod, I really love it. I do look forward to being able to more easily edit the emotes and love the idea of custom emotes for particular pets. I know my hunter’s tallstrider Peck (formerly Mazzranache) will be emoting about how pretty he is and lawn ornaments and such.
