Name That Pet: Brutesy’s Wolf

Brutesy and WolfYou know what I like about these posts? Sometimes hunters send me elaborate stories about their new pets, and sometimes they send me only the most basic of requests. But you can tell that they all love their pets.

My toon’s name is Brutesy. I tend to be more in your face style fighting. I duel wield and I love to BG. I really like my wolf, and I cant figure out a name for him. I would like a funny or mythical pet name. Please help me. =(

We’ll see what we can do, if only to fix that sad frown at the end! So what do you think, everyone? What’s the perfect name for this wolf?

  1. Hey Tesh,

thanks for the weblink. I have Irish Wolfhounds and am always looking for names to use or modify for them.

    cheers,
    fran

  2. Your wolf looks like a Loki to me. Loki was a trickster god in Norse mythology.

For a funny name, I suggest Pizazz, meaning energy, vitality, or vigor. That model of wolf is always moving, unlike the dire wolf model, and makes me think of endless energy.

@cloudmonkey: I have a cat named Rags! He’s a darling cat, very sweet and lovable.

  3. I may be sounding out your name wrong (I went with Brute-see), but what keeps popping into my head is Cutesy, to rhyme with your name. But that may be just too silly. :P

  4. My friends suggested -
    Winterfang
    Winterpaw
    Wolfsong or
    Mistpaw
I had no ideas so I just go along with my friends tee hee

  5. Mythology wise there is the obvious Fenrir(or Fenris) and Freki/Geri, Sköll/Hati. And this is just from Norse mythology. lol

Fenrir(Fenris) is a gigantic and fearsome wolf. Son of Loki and his Giantess lover.

Sköll and Hati are the sons of Fenrir. Sköll chases Sol (the sun) through the sky each day, attempting to eat him. And Hati chases Máni (the moon).

Freki and Geri are Odin’s pet wolves whom he feeds all of his meat to, because Odin survives on nothing but whine.

  6. I always try to keep pet names as short as simple as possible. But still with a bit of uniqueness to it. I tamed a wolf my self at level 10 and still use him as my main pet to this day. I named him Agro. It’s gotten to the point where I call him “Agro” instead of just “my pet”. Also have a lynx named Sable.

  7. You could also use the name of the wolf (Lupa) as in Lupine who suckled the babies Romulus and Remus the original founders of Rome.

  8. I’m not immune to typos, and this one made me laugh a lot. (In a great way, no offense intended.)
“Odin survives on nothing but whine.”
As the supreme Allfather of the Norse pantheon, I’m sure he hears a lot of whining… but to survive on that? No wonder the guy toys with the lives of his subordinates; he *needs* them in turmoil, if he’s feeding on the whining. ;)

Fran, I’m glad that list helped. Irish wolfhounds are beautiful beasties. :D

  9. I have to second Preypacer…. that is also the name I’ve given my faithful wolf friend I’ve had since I was young belf exploring in ashenvale. =)

  10. Personally, I’d steer away from mythological wolf references because I think they’re a bit overdone. Much like the number of tigers named Hobbes.

If you like amusing names, I did like the rhyming name idea mentioned before, like Cutesy (or Bootsy, Tootsy? ;) ) But if that’s too cute for you, you could go with something alliterative to match your name, like Brutus, or something that matches by the ending “-sy” (but admittedly I can’t think of anything good right now…)

  11. First thats how i sas with my hunter till i realized tha i did more dps with a good bow and rapidfigher… now back on topick facesreader

  12. I sure hope u found a name … I gotta agree i like to swing my blades but the bow is handy always…. anyway gotta be imaginative …. I told a friend to name his new wind serpant WhypLash … so there u go find a name & mess with the spellin… happy hunting

  13. Zahabu (means golden one) or Arjun(the white one in hindu) or Howlite(it’s the name of a precious stone used to encourage emotional expression)
