Name That Pet: Vongoul’s Cats

Today’s somewhat belated NTP is brought to you courtesy of Vongoul, a troll hunter from Darkspear who, like many of us, has more cats than names. Vongoul writes:

Hello there! I’m a Troll Hunter Named Vongoul, and I live on the PVP server Darkspear and I just tamed 2 new lovely and awesome pets. I always liked big cats, so all my pets are cats, and since I like to have unique special ones, I tamed as my main pet a Ghost Saber. And I just tamed Humar the Pridelord and King Bangalash also because they are so cool and gorgeous, but im having trouble finding the best names for them. I hope you guys can help me!

I would like mythical and names in other languages for my pets. My play style is simple I always play to be the best and have lots of fun. =]

PS: I leave you a pic of my Ghost Saber also. I named him Ghost and I took the picture at Undercity when he was Prowling.

Note that Vongoul has already named his Ghost Saber, but I wanted to include it because I really like how he posed all three pictures. (Be sure to check out the large versions by clicking on the small pics!)

So our task is to find names for his new black lion and white tiger. Should be easy!

Suggestion for the Black Cat:
Kuroioni – roughly translates to “Black Demon” in japanese.

and for the tiger:
Shiroioni – which roughly translates to “White Demon” in japanese.

I thought they seemed fitting, for the pair ^_^

Oh I love those cats Vongoul! Very nice choices indeed. Here are some suggestions for you.

For Humar:
Kali (The Black One in Hindu)
Achilles
Rajani (The Dark One in Hindu)
Donovan (Dark in Irish)

For The King:
Berwyn (White head in Welsh)
Whisper
Eirwen (White snow in Welsh)
Gwyn (White or fair in Welsh)
Zurine (White in Basque)

I myself have tamed both of these beauties on my dreanei hunter. I named Humar Leonidas (His nickname being Leo, which means Lion in Latin, so I thought it fit) And I named the King..which I turned into a girl, Persephone for fun really.

Zeus

Obsidian or Onyx for your black lion
and
Raya (“stripe” in Spanish) or Streifen (“stripe” in German) for your tiger.

“Manticore” (a mythical cat-like monster) and “Skadi” (the Norse goddess of winter and hunting).

I have no names, because I’m really bad at that. Grats on the cool cats, though.

Tsuki – Moon in japanese
Tasogare – Dusk in japanese

King:
Shirotsuki – White Moon in japanese
Hi (pronounced Hee) – Sun in japanese
Akatsuki – dawn in japanese

About all I got. Yes I like japanese, its a beautiful language.

Hi is the wrong dialect to complement Tsuki. Its Taiyou.

For Humar – Glaugan, same as KOF Zero’s black lion pet (means Darkness or King Lion).

For Bangalash, – Hikarioni, means Light Demon.

•Cauchemar – The French word for nightmare
•Cadifor – “Battle King” in Celtic
•Tonrar – Inuit for ghost/demon

For King Bangalash:
•Kaneq – Frost
•Kasumi – Means mist in Japanese
•Reiko – Lovely / Handsome
•Akos – White falcon
•Irusan – The king of cats from Celtic myth
•Roi – “King” in French

I second Cryptography’s names, they really go well with your cat you’ve already named.

My troll hunter’s white tiger is “Sorrow” and I wouldn’t give her up for anything!

Nior is “black” in French
Schwarzer Löwe is Black Lion in German
Leone nero is Black Lion in Italion
Leão preto is Black Lion in Portuguese

and for the tiger..

Vittiger is White Tiger in Swedish.

well i like Cryptography’s Suggestions for Shadow and Fade, but i guess they can sound a lot more Original and cool if we translate the name to other languaje, don’t u guys agree??

If you haven’t named your cats yet try this:

Yin for the white, Yang for the black. :)

Hey Vongoul, glad you liked my suggestions.

I think they should stay in English language since your existing pet is named in English.

If you chose another language, go with one that has influenced English a lot so that the names have a familiar feel to them.

Shadow is meant for Humar, and Fade for King-B. Perhaps “vanish” or another synonym could be used instead.

lol, i named my ghost saber ghost also, i named my humar onyx which is a black quartz i think

I named Humar Arya. I tend to go after characters from books. I had Bangalesh on an old hunter and named him Kipling. Sawyer is a favorite of mine as well. I’ve also had cat pets named Killian and Guinness.
