WoW Action Figures: No Hunters

I’m not really an action figure type of person. (Although last night I did have a long and involved dream about model horse figurines.) But if I had the opportunity to buy a nice hunter figure with a pet alongside, I might well take it. After all, I spend half my waking hours on WoW hunters — I might as well have some cool real-life decorations to go with.

Unfortunately, it doesn’t look like I’ll have that opportunity any time soon. Although DC Unlimited has just released Series 2 of their WoW action figures, there are no hunters in evidence. Nor were there any hunters in Series 1. Worse yet, they’ve already got listings up for Series 3, to be released in November, and there are no hunters in that series either!

I wonder what they’ve got against hunters?

Here ya go… get your toon immortalized in the form of a figurine:

Don’t get too disheartened. Judging from the fact various action figure selling sites are taking preorders, it looks like we will indeed get a hunter. Specifically, Brave Highmountain the Tauren hunter:

Boven: Huh — I noticed that Series 3 only listed four figures and the others have five. I guess the fifth one is the hunter, eh?

But … no pet? That’s disappointing.

Messyah: That’s actually why I don’t want a FigurePrints — no pet. I could care less about my armor, but I’m not paying that much for something that doesn’t inclue my loyal cat Cloud. :>

Yeah I was going to post about the Tauren hunter but it seems someone beat me to it.

Not only are we getting a hunter but it’s a Delux figure. I currently have all the wow Figures and my delux Illidan is massive, his wings are what, 14 to 16 inches from the bottom of his hooves? The Draenei Pally with series two is likewise massive and thick.

Both Illidan and Maraad went for $25 if I’m not mistaken, the Tauren Hunter is going for a full $35.

Now that could mean simple inflation, with the gas prices making everything rise it could be as simple as that, or it could mean that he’s just that much bigger. He looks sizable in the picks. As for no pet, he may come with a pet. The stuff isn’t due for months and we only have one pic of each so far. Or he may not. I hope he does but won’t cry if he doesn’t. I Have some other stuff I can stick beside him if need be.

“I wonder what they’ve got against hunters?”

The same thing they have against taurens it would seem. I would love a tauren shaman figure, but there aren’t any in the 3 series they have on the site.

    3 warriors
    2 rogues
    2 paladins
    2 priests
    2 draenies
    2 blood elves
    2 humans
    2 undead
at least one of every race and class except taurens and hunters.

I should read through all the comments before responding I guess. >.<

well, there IS the models you can buy of your own characters…you mail the people the name of your toon and your server, and they make one. maybe for like 20$ they’ll add a pet. id LOVE to have my alt Yesnumbrtwo with his serpent coiling around him while Yes draws back his bowstring.

*holds up a sign reading “DWARF HUNTER OR BUST!”*

I wonder if we’ll ever see a female tauren model. I don’t even care if she’s a hunter or not (I’ll get the male tauren to satisfy my hunter-y needs) but it doesn’t look like there’s much female toon love unless they’re a ‘hot’ race. =/

And maybe they just aren’t showing the pet? If it’s going to be a ‘deluxe’ figure, and it isn’t on the DC website yet, the site with our tauren hunter on it may not be quite accurate.

Edit: They have a female blood elf, female undead, an upcoming female priest, and an upcoming female draenei…. but no female night elf?! Weird.

And by priest I mean human… I’m sorry for bogging down your comments, Mania! T.T

Yeah, I went to a shop that sells WoW Action Figures and I asked if they had any hunters and they said that ‘They werent made/They never recived any to sell’ So that really sucks..

But hopefully hunters will come out soon, so I guess I gotta wait..

    Stupid waiting..

  13. Boven - July 10th, 2008 @ 10:56 am UTC

Mania: Yeah. The Tauren hunter is listed as a deluxe figure, which presumably means he’s larger and better detailed than the ‘regular’ series 3 figures. I do wish he had a pet, too, but I’m sure that someone would inevitably complain that he had X for a pet when Y was better or more Tauren-y or something.

On the plus side, he looks very much like my Tauren hunter. Now if only I could get a Mazzranache to stand at his side.

  14. Boven - July 10th, 2008 @ 11:00 am UTC

Looking at the picture again, the hunter is standing in a pose that’s very similar to the male Tauren casting pose, so it could be argued that he’s rez’ing his pet. That could be used as an excuse for a lack of a pet and his kinda grumpy expression.

I can almost hear him muttering “Stupid Malacrass and his spirit bolts….”

  15. Jindar - July 10th, 2008 @ 3:17 pm UTC

No pet? Well, that’s not hard to fix. Just get an animal figure from one of those dollar-store grab-bags (Y’know, the ones that say “Zoo Assortment” or whatnot) and a little model-paint…

  16. PepsiJedi - July 10th, 2008 @ 5:10 pm UTC

It could be worse.. they could give him a pet and make it something ugly…. (( insert the pet you think is the ugliest/stupidest here))

  17. Dustin - July 10th, 2008 @ 10:43 pm UTC

If he is the deluxe figure from the series whats coming with him? if no pet?

  18. PepsiJedi - July 10th, 2008 @ 11:25 pm UTC

I imagine, much like the Drae Pally and Illidan it’s going to be about twice as much if not more plastic. Illidan was close to 15 or 16 inches tall if you put his wings on him. Maraad was BIG and THICK and HEAVY. The Tauren looks bigger than both. (( not Illidan’s wings but still)) He might just be a truely massive chunck of plastic with all that intricate tooling. To be honest that’s what I believe he is. I do not think we’re getting a pet with him. He’s just BIG.

  19. Blaiddwolf - July 11th, 2008 @ 12:41 am UTC

Um, I know this is going to make me sound like the dork that I am but Toyfare did a think about the new up and coming figures for WoW and the Tauren Hunter picture seemed really so I don’t know why you seem to think it’s not.

  20. PepsiJedi - July 11th, 2008 @ 3:46 pm UTC

Seemed really what? Really good? Really Bad? Really furry? Not saying you’re a dork, but you’re missing some words in your post. :)

  21. Bloodwin - July 12th, 2008 @ 5:13 am UTC

I was hoping for a Tauren deluxe figure. I got the Broll Bearmantle one yesterday. The Illidan figure is relatively small as it’s his wings that are huge (and damn impractical for most shelves) The Draenei deluxe figure is a big bugger but nicely detailed. I think the lack of pet is down to the cost. The scale of these figures s pretty huge. I know my Bear would be massive. Perhaps they should go for a female Dwarf hunter as it would be the smallest hunter figure and then you might be able to include a pet.

  22. PepsiJedi - July 12th, 2008 @ 11:19 am UTC

I have to disagree here. I have them all and Illidan isn’t small by any stretch of the imagination. He isn’t as “thick” as the orc or the NE druid but he’s taller and wider and his wings DO add enormous size to him. Maraad, the Drae Pally is bigger than any of the “regular” figures by half. He’s BIG. Your post makes it out like there’s little to no difference. There really is. If the tauren is THAT much bigger to necessitate a 33% price jump over the last two deluxe (( and it’s not just inflation)) then he’s going to be massive. Now.. with gas prices making other prices jump, everything from Milk to action figures it might just be that, but if not, if the 33% jump in price is due to 33% more figure there, that taruen is going to be close to a foot tall and wide.

I personally think the ‘lack of pet’ is due to these being “Wow” figures and not “Animal” figures. And with over 100 different pets be it color or family or details and what not, they couldn’t make a pet that appeased everyone. If they made it a cat, all the boar and ravager people would complain, if they made a turtle people would bitch about it not being great, if it was a spore bat people would complain ect ect ect. So they’re making the FIGURE.

Course we could be wrong. The thing’s not due out till christmas. Maybe they will give us a pet?

  23. Vellie - July 12th, 2008 @ 11:18 pm UTC

The figure pictured on that site is NOT a Hunter. It’s wearing Druid Tier 6 aka Thunderheart. :(

  24. Boven - July 14th, 2008 @ 10:03 am UTC

Vellie: The picture is the one that DC Unlimited provided for the figure.

While the breastplate may appear similar to Thunderheart, it’s more likely simply a generic thing. It’s rather similar to the one on the old Tauren shaman figure. It looks like they were just going for a Tauren look.

Besides, he’s holding a crossbow, which is rather un-druid-ish.
