Earlier today, MMO Champion reported that Blizzard had opened registration for the Wrath of the Lich King beta in Europe. Now it appears that US registration is also open.
To opt-in for beta, log in to the appropriate World of Warcraft site (EU or US) and visit your Account Management page. There’s a button at the end of the list for Wrath of the Lich King Beta Opt-In.
[correction] Blizzard has posted a FAQ that explains more about opting in. Earlier I said that you didn’t need to opt in if you have a BlizzCon or WWI key, but I was wrong. That only applies if you have a guaranteed key from buying a special Dell or winning the Frostmourne art contest. Otherwise, you still need to opt in. See the FAQ for more details.
yay! thanks for this info, opting in right now.
Hey thanks if it wasnt up sooner i mit have missed reserving it and well i’d rather not miss out on any of the action.
“According to Eyonix, players with a beta code from BlizzCon or similar events don’t need to opt-in. They will be entered into the beta automatically when the time comes.”
Argh, I went ahead and opt’d in! Now I have to hunt that “this is your secret pass” thing from Blizzcon…. Hmmm. Except that link to Eyonix says
“Keep in mind that opting in doesn’t guarantee you’ll be selected for the beta. And players who’ve previously been promised beta access through a promotion or contest (such as by purchasing the Dell XPS M1730 World of Warcraft Edition notebook) don’t need to worry — you’ll still be entered into the beta automatically when the time comes.”
They were REALLY cagey at Blizzcon as to what that “secret key” they gave us actually was. And they’ve never mentioned it specifically again to confirm or deny what it’s for – so…I’d say that I’m glad I still went and signed up for the beta anyway. Unless it’s down in that thread further and I didn’t see it that “yes this is what the Blizzcon key was!” – in which case, oops, didn’t read all 7 pgs on the forum. (I really hate spending more time there than I have to.)
I put my ticket in. Hopefully I get in :) Of course, full coverage on crabs :P
batgrl: You are entirely correct, and I apologize — I misunderstood how the BlizzCon keys worked. I’ve corrected the post and linked to the FAQ they put up, which clarifies the situation pretty well. (And then I went and opted in my main account, sadly, because I was really hoping that the BlizzCon key would give me a guaranteed spot.)
“I was really hoping that the BlizzCon key would give me a guaranteed spot.”
Same here! I just wonder WHEN they’re finally going to tell us what it is. Meanwhile I er, have to find that darn key card. It’s somewhere in my desk. Which means a massive cleaning/searching festival will go on this weekend…
If anyone gets in we would greatly appreciate hunter/pet info. Would like to get a look at the new pet talent trees, try and get a collection of them all for different families on this site to choose the best pet to take to Northrend.
I’ve signed, and if I get in i’ll be sharing info whether im allowed or not. Unless i’m not allowed…
>_-
Vish you’re probably not supposed to, but Blizz probably also expects it. As long as there is Prnt Scrn there will be showings of the beta testing. I myself might say a few things if I manage to get in, but only after I finish the beta stuff or it nears finishing.
Don’t want them taking it away from me lol XD
I would assume by beta that the new spells/talents would be posted on the wow site anyway, which would remove my desire to go to beta. I don’t wna spoil the new lvl grind, I want to take it as it comes with my friends. But I want to know about the new pets talents/abilities, how shot rotations will exist, if they will still do so, and wiether this clipping removal from steady shot will be mirrored to the aimed shot resetting auto.
But I will have to post anything I find about crabs, turtles and penguins. I know the last one isn’t a beast but they should be in Northrend, with the Penguin King.

I got my name in for the Beta Thursday night.
Open beta isn’t covered by an NDA – that’s why they call it “open” (well, that and the various random drawings to choose participants rather than being extended specifically by Blizzard employees).
So when beta finally starts, we will not only get more info being published by Blizzard, we will also get it being published by players that were in the alpha but previously restricted from writing about it by an NDA.
Just opted-in for beta participation. Thanks for sharing this information, and for Petopia!
I Opted-in, for the “Wrath” Beta, last night.
