Name That Pet: Kindinos’ Ravager

Kindinos and RavagerKindinos is a Night Elf with a ravager habit! He writes:

I’ve had an orange Nethermine Ravager from day one when they became tameable. I’m kind of tired of looking at it, and have even had a few incidents where the Horde has mistaken it for a Nethermine Ravager and tried to kill it. I managed to tame one of the new Razorthorn Ravagers before they made them untameable, and I’m working on raising its loyalty.

Some information about me:
I am a raider named “Kindinos” which is Greek for “Danger.”
I would prefer something mythological (Greek preferred to match my character’s name).
Silly, serious, fantasy names are all open to consideration even if to just nudge me in the right direction.

Let’s see if we can nudge Kindinos in the right direction!

  1. a friend of mine has a cat named “Theron” its a greek for something, not sure what but its an awesome name

  2. “Theron” is Greek for “hunter,” actually. ;) Which would be a clever name for a ravager.

Phobos (fear) or Deimos (panic) might work well, too.

  3. I have one of these I named Shrike, after a character in Dan Simmons’ Hyperion universe.
    From Wikipedia

The Shrike stands roughly three meters in height and is described as being composed of razor wire, thorns, blades, and cutting edges, having fingers like scalpels and long, curved toe blades. It is basically a gigantic, bladed killing machine.

It’s also a type of bird that impales it’s prey on thorns to make it easier to tear them apart.

Both are good descriptions of these pets.

in the name of full disclosure mine is in the stables now because I got tired of watching him and he has been replaced by a Blackwind Sabercat named Obsidian (after a sugestion in the Name That Pet: Celestarry’s Blackwind Sabercat thread.)

  4. How about “Thanatos”?

Or Charon? In Greek mythology, he was the guy who ferried the dead across the river. (Was it the Styx or Acheron? – I get muddled!) As you possibly already know!

PS cool pet. I never understand why people think Ravagers are ugly!

  5. Thanks for all the suggestions!
I ended up naming it after a buddy of mine. I get some laughs when they see a person on the DPS charts who isn’t even online :)

  6. i had a green ravager like that too i named mine infection it was just the first thing that came to mind when i see black and green

  7. Zhahadum – from babylon 5, its the homebace of the evil shadowrace… they are pretty hard to kill :D

    Ammon- means the hidding Egyptian

Anubis – God of the dead in Egyptian mythology

Xerri – Dun Mikiel Xerri was a Maltese priest, who was executed by the French rulers

Fratianna- from the mafia man; Jimmy “The Weasel” Fratianno

ACANTHA – from Greek Mythology (Latinized)
Latinized form of Greek Ακανθα (Akantha), which meant “thorn, prickle”, well suited for a ravager.

    ANDROMACHE – from Greek Mythology
Means “battle of a man” from the Greek elements ανδρος (andros) “of a man” and μαχη (mache) “battle”

    ARGUS from Greek Mythology (Latinized)

  8. I named my old ravager Freki. Freki is one of the norse god Odin’s wolves but because the name means ravenous, I think it’s a very fitting name for a ravager.

  9. Ah, I didn’t see that. It’s usually added to the original post when a name is chosen, but since he didn’t actually say what name he picked there wasn’t anything to put. /shrug

  10. Mine is named “Munchkin” as the TGC. ^_^

If you like it and you server is not Tyrande, use it.

I think is goos for a Ravager, because os the “Munch” mandibles sound and the “Kin” suffix.

    Sorry my horrible English ¡^_^
