Name That Pet: Korrupted’s Undead Boar

Korrupted and Undead Boar. Click for elephant.Final Name: Frankenswine

Korrupted, hunter and frequent visitor, writes:

I recently tamed one of the Undead Boar from Eastern Plaguelands (I love how they charge. It rocks.) … but my naming skill have apparently vanished for a while.

I always use names that have meanings. My 70 Aqua Tiger (rare spawn Rak’shiri) is Avalanche, due to the cold. I have a Crab (Rare spawn Crusty the Red Crab) is Cakes. I’ve had Leviathan the snake. But this one … is difficult.

If anyone can help me find a good name for this guy, I want to keep him! Anything that has to deal with him beind undead … or Mythology … anything Fantasy-ish. Here’s a picture!

  1. To go with ‘korrupted’, how about….’Fel’? As in fel energies. Those have corrupted many. Plus, it sounds neat.

  2. How Aboud something retarded?
I used Gobbles, after the retard turkey pet timmy has in one of the southpark episodes, i know its not anything mytholical but it rly suits the “no thinking”style of the boar and it sounds rly great, im gonna get the sound track of timmy yelling gobbles and try to replace the charge sound so u hear it when he charges :P, just say it a few times out loud its rly nice :P

  3. “(On)Dood Varken” which basically means (un)dead pig in Dutch :P

Personally I also like Eurylochos, Kirke or Aiaia. WARNING! Long explanation coming up:

As we all know Odysseus was sailing around the Mediterranean sea, not knowing where to go. He and his desperate crew went ashore on the island of Aiaia hoping to find food and water. Odysseus sent twenty-three men to explore the island but only one returned. As the men walked from the beach they could hear sweet singing from Kirke’s home in a forest glen. Wild lions and wolves (drugged by Kirke) came, wagging their tails, to greet the strangers. They were charmed by her beauty and drank the potions she offered as refreshment. As Kirke’s vile drugs took effect, the once valiant men began to change shape and were soon fully transformed into swine. Kirke herded them into pens and threw pig food on the ground before them.

The sole survivor, Eurylochos, ran back to Odysseus and urged that they set sail immediately. He told the story of the evil goddess and how they would all be turned into swine if they dared to stay on that dangerous island (his warnings unfortunately took on the air of cowardice… Odysseus almost killed him for it). Odysseus was not afraid. He would not leave his men as swine and he would not risk any of the other men in a fight with Kirke. Odysseus went to Kirke’s palace alone.

Along the trail, Odysseus met Hermes (the messenger of the Immortals) in the guise of a young man. Hermes told Odysseus that he could entrap Kirke and free his companions if he obeyed the gods orders. Hermes reached down and pulled a plant called ‘moly’(‘Molos’ thank you very much. What a bad translation -.-) from the ground and explained that mere mortals found it difficult to dig-up but he, as a god, could do all things. Odysseus took the ‘good medicine’ and went boldly into Kirke’s house. She welcomed him as another victim and gave him her vile potions but the ‘good medicine’ gave Odysseus protection. When Kirke thought the drugs had taken effect, she struck Odysseus with her wand. The wand was supposed to complete the transformation process but Odysseus drew his sword and sprang upon her. The astonished Kirke surrendered instantly. She released the twenty-two pig-men and ceremoniously anointed them with another one of her potions. The men were restored to their original forms but they were taller and more handsome than before they had been enswined.

So there you have my suggestion :)

  4. Hehehe, um, guys? Just so you know, I think she chose Frankenswine at about comment 26. :P

But I know I love reading all the suggestions if I ever get one myself, so it’s cool to keep them coming.

  5. Glad the winning name was already chosen. Undead creatures lend themselves to so many freaky names!

Of the above I like Rottingham and deadmeat.

Frankenswine is awesome, but you could also call it Mary as one step more obscure. Mary Shelley was the author of Frankenstein.

I might pick up one of these on my hunter. If I do I’ll probably call it Spam… that stuff’s been dead a LOOOONG time!

Mania, would you ever consider going through these comments and adding the suggested names as an extra link available on petopia’s pet family pages? Go to petopia, chose a pet family, pick a skin you like, and get suggested names all at one place!

  6. I have the exact same boar as you..named it BoinkBoink..before i named it that I though of naming it Meatshield =)

  7. okokok…i may get LOTS of good and bad responses to this, but name it NotoriousPIG. i came up with this a lil while back, and need to use it somewhere, so have at it if u want, and enjoy.
