Darn it! I was trying to get to 70 so i could snag one of those critters, missed it. people keep mentioning the Dire ravens, is there a bug with them too?

Curiously, while I COULD use mend pet (didn’t try Bestial Wrath–I’ll need to next time I have one), I couldn’t use kill command. I got a “you don’t have a pet” message.

I found the training bug by accident, noticed that as BM spec the ravenger could use all the BM talents.
Beastial wrath et all;
Sooo…i tried giving it growl , then other skills, then all of them…
tamed Ravenger with neg 1009 skill points.
Everything maxed , love this guy!

As a warlock you can cast health funnel during this quest. It seems that they just take the normal pet routines to get this quest working… poor blizzard…

by the way: for what reasons we have test servers? ;-)

Well, apparently there was a bug behind these guys being made untameable–not a behavior glitch or a problem with the quest or anything, but an actual exploit.

Hunters doing the daily may have noticed that they can use mend pet on their temporary ravager while it’s under the influence of the flayer gland. Apparently this extended to pet TRAINING as well, because “mind-controlled” Razorthorn Ravagers could be taught ANY pet skill (available to the ravager family), regardless of the amount of training points. The kicker is that you could then release them and tame them “for real,” and they’d STILL have all those skills trained. So you could theoretically have a pet with all ranks of all resistances, all the lovely active skills, full ranks of great stamina and natural armor, etc., etc.

So yes. They couldn’t patch around it, so they made them untameable to avoid people abusing this. :x

Got one on my dwarf. No problems so far. Tamed before the quest hit, if it matters.

Wow, I recently got mine to best friend. I never had problems with her behavior, nor did I have problems taming her. It’s actually a common ravager pet on my server; everyone grabbed one when they appeared up there on the ridge.

I was thinking about getting one of these to replace my lvl 65 rip blade ravager from BEM, but i guess ill have to lvl him now.

You know, everyone’s running around and seems to have missed what I posted.

This may be one of those horrible examples of where an expansion is better than a patch. They may, indeed, be intended to be tamable, but this patch code conflicted with the last patch code and reverted them back to untamable.

It may not be until the expansion that this could be fixed.
