Celestarry is a level 70 Night Elf hunter with a stable full of cats. Her latest find, a Blackwind Sabercat from the Skethyl Mountains, is in need of a name! Celestarry writes:
Celestarry is my first toon to hit 70. As a Night Elf hunter, I love spending time with my pets (all cats). I am especially fond of trekking around looking for interesting places to visit in Azeroth. I love having the companionship and the protection. My cats have saved my butt more than a few times. So I treat my cats with respect and affection.

Game News
I had a report today that the Amani Bear (the bear mount-type beast from Zul’Aman) can now be tamed. If you remember, these guys could be tamed when they first appeared on the 2.3 Public Test Realm but were made untameable before that patch went live.
Since I’m still on a quasi-vacation from WoW — and since Zul’Aman is well beyond my capabilities anyway — I’d appreciate any help you guys can give me confirming or debunking this news.
My thanks to Alanonymous of Vek’nilash for the report.
Big Red Kitty has a short series of posts up that goes a long way towards explaining why I prefer to solo. *grin*
And then Znodis went and added his own: UU Guide to Wiping.

I’m not certain, but I think this is our first Name That Pet segment from Mexico! Xable, a raiding hunter from the Andorhal realm, is looking for the perfect name for his new Dire Raven carrion bird.
I am the proud owner of the new carrion bird in Raven’s Wood in BEM. I’ve wanted to tame one of these extremely cool looking birds since I first saw it and found out it had a diet, sadly it was untamable. Now that 2.4.2 is out this bird is tameable and the first thing I did was tame one.

I have to admit: the pure white Frostsabers of Winterspring have always been some of my favorite cats.
So I’m pleased that Messyah (frequent commenter here and also the blogger behind WoW Jones) has written in looking for name suggestions for the newest pet of his Tauren hunter Corynthian.
Read on for his great back story!

A young and adventurous Blood Elf hunter named Caelima is looking for some advice naming her new bat. Caelima writes:
Recently I decided that I was going to go with a flying pet and not an owl. So after two or three days of carefully weighing the options between Carrion Bird and Bat I choose bat. So I got a few higher level friends to take me into RFK. I was hoping to find and tame the Blind Hunter but no such luck so I got a regular Kraul Bat.

There’s a rumor going around that in Wrath of the Lich King, the pet skill Bite is being changed to:
- Do less damage.
- Cost less focus.
- Not have a cooldown timer.
In other words, Bite would be a lot like Claw.

Life
Last night my husband and I went to a small send-off for a friend who is moving to Oregon. One of our friend’s friends was wearing a J!nx rogue shirt, so the conversation quickly turned to WoW. The rogue wandered off after a bit, but I was left talking to another guy, a friendly survival hunter who does a lot of raiding. He’d heard of Petopia so I got to show off a bit. (I love that.)

Rassaa, a dwarf hunter from my old stomping grounds of Cenarion Circle, wrote in to ask for some help naming her new green raptor.
I recently got on my Dwarf Hunter, Rassaa, who just got a new pet. I have always wanted an Azeroth raptor on one of my pets, so I got a pretty Green Raptor from Wetlands. Here is the story of how I got him/her…

I don’t know if it’s obvious, but I haven’t been playing much WoW lately — or anything else, really. I need a little break to recharge my batteries … and to prepare for the long upcoming season as we move towards Wrath of the Lich King.
So I’m going to be around just a little less for the next week or so. I’ll continue posting hunter pet news as I ran across it (and feel free to send me tips on anything I miss) and I’ll continue to post Name That Pet features (until and unless I run out of them), but I won’t necessarily be able to keep up with my usual goal of at least one post per day. This slowdown will probably only last for a week or two, but I wanted to let you know what was up.
It’s good to take a break sometimes. I’m particularly lucky in that I can take a break and still participate in the hunter community via you guys.
