I tend to name my pets (and rl pets) after characters and names in literature and movies. My first pet, a starving ghostclaw from ghostlands, was named Padfoot (from Harry Potter), and my current pet, a ghost saber, is named Shadowfax (from Lord of the Rings).

I found out about this trick long time ago (almost 2 years ago) but the trick itself can be tricky for the user him/herself. WoW ‘native’ languages aren’t that complicated… I do not know myself how much Troll language is complicated but I bet that Blizzard added around 4-5 words for 7 letters words like ‘Ravager’… That means that if You write in Troll language:

Ravager
America
Letters
Preview
LOLROFL

You will see the word “Craaweh” at least 2 times…
That’s why I think this trick is crappy… Because You may find a Troll one day who will ask You why did You call Your pet ‘LOLROFL’

I named my first ‘sewer beast’ tame ‘grip’. several layers of joke-ness there. First, his bite. second, old reference to a suitcase (in the days when they were made of alligator), and lastly and the biggest stretch – film industry grip. won’t get into that one here …

or caltrop for my first ravager – no matter how you tossed him, he always had a point up. sorta.

The fact you can’t do ‘ in a pet name is mildly annoying actually. Randomly generated Voidwalker names have em sometimes.
