Fly Like the Wind

Mania on her Swift Purple Windrider

After months of lackadaisically completing daily quests, Mania has finally saved up enough cash for a fast flying mount.

(The entire process sped up a bit when I realized that if I wasn’t going to use all those flower bits to make potions, I should probably just sell them on the Auction House. It hadn’t really occurred to me to do that … but it worked wonderfully.)

Haha, grats! An epic mount is a heady experience… and then, you realize you can’t just have one, when you try to play your other characters. x) Yay Mania!

Grats Mania! Having a druid, I was able to experience the joy of flying at level 68. It sure is nice soaring through the air, don’t ya think?

I’m with Mike on this. I’m a notorious mount/rep whore on my faction of the Muradin realm. I have all the netherdrakes, all the alliance mounts, and well the list goes on. I have 2 bank bag of 16 slots filled with epic mounts. Only mount I’m missing is Baron Rivendare’s. My epic flying mount is my favorite though, who doesnt love flying so fast, things dont even LOAD in time?

Ha dont get me wrong i’ve given my fair share of attempts at baron’s mount and ZG mounts and i eventually feel i’ve spent too much money on mounts hence why i have only 2 drakes on any one char. lol But then i have a ton of those stupid pets u get via xmas or w/e so bank slots are at a premium lol

  8. Kristy - February 2nd, 2008 @ 2:21 pm EST

Wow, you’re on the side of evil eh? Didn’t know that. Gratz though…

  9. Mania - February 2nd, 2008 @ 2:24 pm EST

Evil? No — I’m an Orc!

  10. Kurdor - February 2nd, 2008 @ 4:16 pm EST

Oh snap. Start on the Netherdrake quests, Mania. Even if you don’t want the dragon, the gold is great and you get to do some truly fun dailies, such as flying around throwing boots at worthless peons.

  11. Mania - February 2nd, 2008 @ 4:21 pm EST

I wish I could, Kurdor. But there’s this nasty group quest sitting between me and the Netherdrake dailies. Eventually I’ll get desparate enough for a drake to seek out help with that, but …

For context, I just today completed the last four Nessingwary hunting quests in Nagrand — you know, with Gutripper and Bach’lor and those guys. I happened to see a warlock looking for help as I was flying through and I was in a mood to cooperate, so we finished them up. Otherwise I never would have.

if your talking about saving the mother netherdrake its fairly easy, pull him into a room dps, dps dps, and when he summons the demon run to the other room the demon will sit there in the other room like statue while u kill the orc. The only problem would be finding a group of players not already attuned.

  13. Kristy - February 2nd, 2008 @ 9:05 pm EST

    lol O-kay.

  14. Taylor - February 2nd, 2008 @ 11:27 pm EST

For the Horde! Nice mount. =)

  15. Kurdor - February 3rd, 2008 @ 12:54 am EST

Group quests can be a bummer, yes. It’d be much nicer if anyone was actually using the quest part of the LFG tool.

I’d help you with the quest. We just would have to get past the whole you-being-kill-on-sight-for-my-dwarf-hunter thing. =O

Also, you being on a different server doesn’t help any.

  16. Mania - February 3rd, 2008 @ 1:00 am EST

Well I appreciate the thought, Kurdor. :>

Hey hey, “evil” is a Personal idea. I like horde, wouldn’t dare play Allience, but I am not a melicious Ally killer. I don’t bother to attack flagged peeps or do the Taunt dance. (my gad i have seen alot of people from each faction do that!)

    Dig rats (grats) Mania!!!

  18. Noburo - February 3rd, 2008 @ 9:07 am EST

No side is evil, it’s all on point of view. If you play horde, then the alliance seem evil. And if you play alliance the horde seem evil. Just think of it as two groups of people who have the same goal, but don’t agree with how the each other approaches it. Anyways! Grats on the mount! For the Horde!

  19. Mikeoneal - February 3rd, 2008 @ 4:55 pm EST

Ha, yeah I’d have to agree, with how anti horde i am, I’ve made friends with some hordies. In WSG we were just looking for a few quick badges so basically let em take the flag, so one ass of a hunter decided to hide our flag in the water mill. Eventually everyone but the friends from his server got pissed and me and this taur warr just sat down and chilled, throwing the occasional /rude at the passing buddy of the hunter, course I’d get killed by em eventually, rezed ran back, same for the cow when the alliance tried to zerg the hunter. lol

But you all have to admit the horde have done some terrible things in Westfall.

  20. Volcan - February 4th, 2008 @ 1:57 pm EST

Congratulations! Oh and alliance… well… theres is nothing different between allys and hordes rly. One factions says some like ‘OMG theyre sooo nubz theyz deedz ‘ but they dont realise they do the same. Oh and, if you are gonna get some rep mount, get a nether ray rather than Netherdrake. Netherdrake is boring farming, Nether ray have some nice quests in it and it looks better IMO.

  21. Kristy - February 4th, 2008 @ 10:48 pm EST

Yeah, I hear ya. I am anti-Horde too.

  22. Mythrandir - February 5th, 2008 @ 5:57 am EST

New pet in eastern plague land - its a white bat called Duskwing ,looks like the rare one in rfk but lvl 60 :) its was near southern tower where i spotted him

    Mythrandir

  23. Mikeoneal - February 5th, 2008 @ 7:17 am EST

    Duskwing is untameable, always has.

And as to Nether Ray vs netherdrake, everyone has one or the other or in my case multiples of both and honestly theyre all annoying to grind and very lucrative in the mean time. And remember annoying has no link to hardship i attained exalted fairly easily for both.

  24. gundorith - February 6th, 2008 @ 12:08 am EST

yea man i think the netherdrake is best i mean who wants to fly around on the back of a bat u dont know where they have been hangin on the other side riding on the back of a dragon would be tight i mean if u like the books of eragon and eldest (best books ever) u would love the idea of flyin on the back of a dragon like a dragon rider peace out ohh and the horde vs alliance this is lame im neutral on the matter i have even amounts of characters on each faction

  25. Mikeoneal - February 6th, 2008 @ 1:43 am EST

They really need to add mounted combat. Especially flying mounts, If nothing but allwing the mounts themselves duke it out using the stats of the rider and the losing one causing itself and its rider to crash to the ground out of stam, dead. Even better would be allowing us hunters to use our ranged abilities, same as locks mage etc.. Casting would be able to be used as long as the person does nothing to change the direction of the mount since doing so would be like moving during a cast. Even warriors could do this having the mount take on aspects of a warrior in say abilities like charge and intercept and even stunners like shield bash.

Hardest to think of i think would be rogues, feral druids, demo locks, and unfortunately us Beastmaster hunters. Druids i guess would have to have combat skills added to flight form. Feel like i should add all of these ideas are subject strictly to player mount vs player mount, seeing as a druid with epic flight form and combat abilities would be godly in farming, or a hunter dpsing from high in the sky, but then that would most likely cause evasions.

Demo Locks i guess could get a flying version of all the demon triggered by combat since ofcourse all pets disapear when mounted.

As for us BM hunters i was going to suggest the mount takes the place of our beloved pets but abviously we it cant dps while be are and vice versa, so maybe a minature version of the mounts we’re riding at the time? That or we get more slots for aerial only pets, ofcourse those using bats vultures netherrays and spore bats should be interchangeable

Now rogues are just a pain to think about. Obviously they just dont have the ease of dps as the warrior would. Theyd have to be able to stealth the entire mount at the cost of a ton of speed. Maybe a way to cause an auto dismount in the form of a stun, obviously a one shot at high heights and just annoying at lower heights

Well, congratulations! I remember when I first tried a flying mount, I was like “wowzors omg!” and all I wanted to do was fly. I’m on a new hunter, after abandoning a lowly Nelf hunter. Now, I re-joined the Horde as a BM Belf hunter. I absolutely love hunters, no other class works for me. I cant wait ’till I get my flyer on this new hunter.

P.S. To all you “Anti-Horde” I’d like to inform you, WE ARE NOT THE “BAD-GUYS”! The Alliance are the real A-holes. And yes, I have evidence. First off, the orcs lived peacefully on Draenor (AKA Outlands) with the Draenei (who were formerly known as eredar, draenei means “exiled ones” after being driven out of their homeland by Sargeras. Kil’Jaden (or however its spelled) was an eredar who sided with Sargeras, and wants to destroy Velen and the draenei race. He told the shamanistic orcs thru their ancestors that the draenei would destroy them, and Ner’Zhul beleived them, and told the orc clans to side and kill all draenei. The Draenei tried to make up, but Ner’Zhul simply refused. Durotan (father of Thrall) and Orgim (his best friend) let the captured Velen go. Later, the Draenei fled to Azeroth in the time of Thrall’s reign as Warchief of the Horde. Thrall set up an alliance with the Human leader, Jaina Proudmore.
I forgot some previous information… some orcs became Warlocks, and Ner’Zhul corrupted some orcs, and thats how orcs got a bad reputation witht the Alliance.
Thrall was not a racist, and didnt care about the differences of humans, night elves, and such. The Alliance broke that alliance with Thrall after some time, and Thrall didnt really appreciate this. Since the races on the Alliances are a bit of racists, they couldnt forgive the Horde. We are merely trying to fix things up, but look, you arent letting us, and the Alliance betrayed the Horde. It only seems like we are bad guys because we have the Undead, and orcs, who earned a bad reputation thru those warlocks T_T. So… I hope this was good enough evidence to prove that the Alliance have performed the most wrongs against the Horde. Even tho the good/bad doesnt exactly matter, the history says that you are the true “evil” ones.

Btw, sorry for the long post! I just wanted to clarify some things with those pesky, misguided Alliance players. The Horde (the group Thrall formed) was put together to unify the inhabitants of Azeroth. Not to be “evil” and take over Azeroth, Thrall only wants peace. So… I hope you understand, and sorry again for the long post! =/ Well, good luck to you other players shooting for your flyer!

  27. Mikeoneal - February 7th, 2008 @ 1:58 am EST

I’m not racist, if anything I’m classist :P, i dont like rogues lol. They’re small and have large stingers.

Secondly, i always liked the cows. They’ve caused me much pain in pvp, but over all if we had only helped them kill the centaurs they’d either be neutral or alliance :D.
And Undead are undead humans lol, you dont see any orc versions or any version other then that. It’s not my fault Bolvar has watched too many Romero movies and has a huge fear of zombies :P. I’d like to see an alliance priest ressurect an Undead and bring them back as a human lol.

Troll’s just have a messed up background and i doubt we could ever get along.

And as for orcs if only that bastard in CoT doesnt wipe his mind we all be cool with eachother ><
Let’s face it too Blood elves are recovering meth addicts honestly :P.

But to be fair, Dwarves are drunkards (Here Here!!!) gnomes are self destructive terrorists, NE’s are hippies, Humans will always come with an air of superiority, and the draenai are burning legion ffs lol

  28. sarai - February 8th, 2008 @ 9:53 am EST

Too true about the races lol.
I’m not a huge fan of the whole horde/alliance thing either, I play both and always try to be as polite as possible to the other faction. I even just made a new hunter (Belf) & have decided to avoid pvp with him totally (neutrality ftw?).

  29. Mikeoneal - February 8th, 2008 @ 7:28 pm EST

Have to say i believe in no mercy usually,
and hate to use a 300 reference, but “Give them nothing, but take from them Everything!”
thats basically how i play, but you can always say I’ve killed more bosses in my life then horde :D
