Name That Pet: Dragon’s Boar

Final Name: Pigassus

Dragon, a Bloodelf hunter from the Thrall server, would like our help. Dragon writes:

This is my 3rd hunter, and I plan to get her to 70 just like the others. She is a Bloodelf MM hunter named Dragon and I play on Thrall server Horde side. For this character I’ve tamed Princess from Elwynn Forest for her beauty and I like to have pets that people will instantly remember when I explain where they came from. I just love the way she squeals when she uses Charge, and she makes me giggle when she uses Charge under water or around a tree.

For the life of me I can’t think of a name for her though. I’m trying to find something simple and that you don’t have to think about (like my name) and something that would kind of match my name too. I am nothing without her and she has saved my life countless times, so I think she deserves an awesome name.

Dragon and her boar.

  1. When I see the name Dragon I automatically hear things like Dragon Riders of Pern.

But I did a couple runs around on the net to find some past and new dragon names that might match your lovely little boar there ^-^

    Chenth (Brown)
    Malirth (Brown? Bronze?)
    Rasenth (Blue, Brown?)
    Rhodrolth (Brown?)
    Kevalth (Brown? Blue?)
    Tanulth (Blue, Brown)
    Vanlith (Brown)

And for some book dragons <3
Glaurung – A fire breathing dragon from J.R.R Tolkien’s Middle Earth, known as “The Deceiver”.

Scatha – A long-worm from the Grey Mountains in J.R.R. Tolkien’s Middle Earth, known as “Scatha the Worm”.

Tintaglia – One of the two remaining dragons from the Tawny Man trilogy by Robin Hobb. The other is Icefyre.

And then for the greater list of dragon names if you are into such things for a pet you can take a gander over at

^^ Plenty of names for your lovely boar <3

  2. I’m going to come in from left field with a silly one: Pigasus! For some reason, “pegasus” struck me as a neat name. Mix it with pig and… ;)

  3. I second Kanaan’s suggestion of Pigasus, and if you don’t pick that then I’m gonna steal it for myself, heehee!

Maybe a real name would be cute and simple, like Stanley, George, or Piggifred (Winnifred!), etc.

Dragon and Stanley? Cute! Unless it’s a girl. Then Dragon and Piggifred is super win.

I hope you find something you like! You and the pig look great together. Happy Questing!

  4. Well, i keep thinking Panzer. Shes saved your life and seems to be able to hold her own, fair example of a tank and then i think theres some game Panzer Dragon? correct me if im wrong lol

  5. I’ve always liked simple names as well, and I usually try to link them with the animal in question, so here are some ideas:

Rath (as a corruption of wrath, and this happens to be the name of my windserpent)
    Tusk or Tusker
Ivory, as referring to the ivory tusks
    Snouter
Amarillo, which is “yellow” in Spanish with the double-L sounding like a Y
    Fatty
    Squeal or Squealer
    Rush or Rusher
    Nosy
    Maim or Maimer
Scythe, which is the a I gave The Rake once

anything short and simple is always good.

  6. Have you heard of a little fantasy book series by Mary Brown, that starts with a book called The Unlikely Ones? In it, there’s a little pig character with wings who is called Wimperling. Wimperling turns out to be a dragon in the end though =^.^=

It may not inspire fear into the hearts of your enemies, but Wimperling was a true friend to the heroine of the book.

  7. I once had a boar I named Kaiser (Emperor in German, although I’m Dutch :P), now I have the black armor plated boar from RFK which I named KaiserX, keeping the name but on a higher level … like Megaman X :P

Kinda nabish … I know xD

  8. I sedond Ember/Amber, it suits her color and how you are named Dragon.
If those don’t fit, maybe “Wilbur”if it is a boy and “Charlotte” if it is a girl. Just some suggestions!

Note — sorry if these where already suggested, so many that I did not read through them all!
    Nice pet!

  9. Here’s what I suggest…

    Serious names…

    1 – “Goresnout”

2 – “Chloe” (Sounds like a good pig name)

    3 – “Grimjaw”

4 – “Pern” (As in Dragonriders of Pern)

    5 – “Whippersnapper”

    Fun Names…

    1 – “Otherwhitemeat”

    2 – “Porkfromork”

3 – “Sawseige” (reads as “sausage”)

4 – “Applebreath” (Pigs are often roasted with an apple in their mouth)

    5 – “Hammydavisjr”

  10. hehe dobs i tried Princess allready and it says that it is an invald name. altho i like Pigasus a lot. anyone else got some ideas?

  11. I love Princess! My Draenei hunter tamed her as her first pet (It’s a long way from Azurmyst Isle to Elwynn if you are Lvl 12…) and I still love her at lvl 53. I named her Prìncess. Accents in names are somewhat silly, but I just couldn’t resist keeping the name. ;)

  12. Amberfat
    Goulash
    Sausage
    Bacon
    Ham
    Steak
    Tuskar

sorry if these were posted before, but i dont have time to look at ‘em

  13. Jeez louise! C’mon people, this is supposed to be a pretty little “LADY”. Give the pig some dignity for cryin’ out loud!

  14. call it erm..
    Cuddles
    Crumpet
    Cherry
    Wiggles
    Flo
Sapph(well thats after my char :P)
    Sniffles
    Huggles
xeon( thats a cool name for a cool piggy :D)

  15. No, no, no. You have to name her something personal, something that describes who she is on the inside.

For instance, I named my boar Squirts, because he’s had chronic bowel trouble ever since I tamed him at lvl 11.

  16. Draconia goes well with Dragon. Its stemmed from the latin word Draco which I think means dragon…and I put a littl nia at the end to make it girly lol

  17. If you r looking for something to match your dragon name, y not go with something like Draco, Drake, Whelp, or Wyrmling.

  18. A name of a yellowish food?
    Biscuit
    Custard
    Butterscotch
    Toffee
    Butter
Chiffon (either for the cake or the fabric)
    Strudel

Or a reference to your pet’s fondness for food?
    Epicure
    Epicurus
    Gourmet
    Gourmand
    Glutton
    Palate
    Appetite
    Gusto
    Relish
    Savor

Or perhaps an ironic reference to your pet’s excellent breeding and manners?
    Dainty
    Posh
    Swank
    Chic
    Style
    Genteel
    Polish
    Prim
    Dapper

Or a reference to its portly dimensions?
    Plush
    Cushion
    Davenport
    Curvaceous
    Buxom
    Zaftig

  19. Dragon, I just looked at your request again and realized that you’ve already decided your boar is female. That eliminates some of the names I suggested that have more masculine connotations such as Dapper.

Looking back through all the names I offered, I have say that there’s one in particular that goes well with the name Dragon. I think Dragon and Chiffon sound great together. The names almost rhyme, but Dragon, with its hard consonants and accent on the first syllable has a very masculine sound while Chiffon with its softer consonants and accent on the second syllable sounds very feminine. And Chiffon has an elegant princessy feel to it–all fluffy cake and sheer fabric. Besides, a food-related name just seems right for a boar!

    So there’s my vote:
    Dragon and Chiffon
