PetEmote

Just a quick note today while I compulsively level pets. *grin* I’ve been seeing a lot of references lately to a WoW UI Mod called PetEmote that allows you to easily perform emotes that look as if they are coming from your pet.

For instance, I type: /pet sniffs the air and then whines softly.
And people around me see: Maja’s hyena Scorn sniffs the air and then whines softly..

The mod is very configurable — you can set up the beginning of the emote in a variety of ways to suit your needs — and there are random emotes to play with per family as well.

I roleplay lackadaisically, but I’m excited by the potential in this mod for personalizing my pets. And Funny, the developer, is actively seeking feedback and suggestions for new emotes and features. So check it out!

Here’s another trick you may or may not know. If you target another friendly player or target, and hit growl on your pet, you’ll of course get the cannot attack that error but your pet will make its attack sound. I Love making my wolf bark at people doing this. Though if your target is flagged, you’ll be flagged too.

Thanks for giving it a try! :)

Here is the thread in the Blizzard forum where I asked for more emotes and some corrective action.

its cool the first time… but when someone’s pet dies several times in a heroic or kara and they have an emote when they feed it, its gets really annoying, really fast.

I’ve been using this for a while now and I love it. It’s especially great on RP servers because I think pets should have just as much character as their hunters and this lets you express it!

Ey Mania, thanks for this. Its a fun mod =)

Are the emotes still hindered by the language barrier between Alliance and Horde?

I am on a Mac too and have never had any trouble seeing or using emotes. Emotes only show up in your log (not in word bubbles) — i’m not too savvy on this, but is it possible to turn off the log and that is why you’re not seeing it?

Emotes are also the only way to “talk” to the opposite faction so I would assume it would not be hindered by the language barrier.

Unfortunately, only the preset emotes (like /thanks or /nod) can be interpreted by both factions. If an Alliance character does a custom emote (like /em bows and thanks the handsome troll warrior.), any Horde in the area will only see a message about the Alliance making strange gestures. And vice versa, of course/

Since the emotes produced by PetEmote are custom emotes, they can’t be interpreted cross-faction.

WOooT! I have been making emotes such as /e (names)’s pet Sorrow stalks the clearing
    and etc.

    WoooooT!!!111oneone

Oh uh, BTW, I can’t get it to work. I said /pet (ect) and it just gave me the “say /help for a listing of a few commands” message. Ideas?

    thanks!

Oh wow, I use this all the time (the older version’s odd tendency to replace letters in my pet’s name with foreign language symbols notwithstanding) and thought it had gone inert5–SO glad to see it was updated. Thanks for the headsup! :D

You being on a mac has nothing to do with your emotes showing up lol. I can’t log into WoW atm, but from memory, while logged in right click the Chat Tab of your chat pane, and scroll around in there till you find emotes, and make sure it’s checked for your chat tab. or possibly under the word bubble menu to the left of the chat pane.. try those two spots.
