I don’t know about the bird, but I think the strength of the long-haired wolf would be well represented by the name “Sampson”.

WoW, tolkien names are always very useful to use for pet names if u get my drift. For pretty much all of my characters i use prefix’s and suffix’s from Tolkiens, The Silmarillion. i have the newer paperback version that has the name stuff in the back. and its all Quenya so that makes it a nice majestic and light shining name. unless of course u use dark names which have no elegancy in it at all. Like Grond. and Daur, Daeg, etc. I name my human mage Sereglin which means blood point, my pet bear tank, Lîthmîr which i believe is grey-mist or something. email me at djfeas001@yahoo if u want a list of some names and/or preffix’s and the like.

Wowwiki has the Thalassian that I used for my pet names, I’ll admit its not 100% but its a fictional language so I doubt people will get too uppity. But Diel means travel, Talah means death (according to something Sylvanis said) so Diel’talah means travel death, but looking at the way the language goes it would be changed to traveling, when a ‘ is added between two words one word becomes a descriptor for the other word eg Sin’Dorei which means Children of the blood but we know Sin means blood and Dorei means Children, the words of and the just appear out of no-where.

And as for the wetlands test I’ve tested it with my pets, my lion tamed form the rake came out male (lion with a mane is male, makes sense) and my windserpent tamed from Arikara came out female and the quest to summon that windserpent describes her as female, so it seems to be accurate.
