Holiday Tip: Pets and Mistletoe

As batgrl reminded us in a comment earlier today, you should stock up on mistletoe during the holiday event.

And a helpful tip to everyone while the seasonal stuff is still out - be sure to kiss the winter revelers in the inn and stock up on mistletoe. While you can’t use it on yourself it does make a lovely pet buff! I store mine up until I have a particularly squishy pet or a harder quest to run.

Mistletoe gives a +20 Spirit buff. As Wolfington tells us:

Spirit does in fact affect pets! It increases their health regeneration! Great for those, *chuckle*, “particularly squishy pets.”

In my very quick tests, the mistletoe increased my pet’s health regeneration by different amounts depending on the level of the pet (which means I don’t understand health regeneration at all and I need to do some research there). *grin* But particularly at higher levels it was a noticable increase.

I’ve noticed this while leveling my Boar pet through the 60’s. Combined with the Sporeling Snack buff, the Mistletoe buff is actually quite a nice thing to have–I hardly ever have to use Mend Pet, even though poor Pigglesworth takes quite the beating.

As for some research into pet health regeneration… perhaps the higher Spirit (and consequent HP regen) would be a reason to take a Caster-stat pet over a regular one? Just a thought.

i have also noticed something going on with health regeneration and pets and am getting curious about caster pets as well , as even on my normal pets i sometimes see depending on pet a + on the spell damage ? and am thinking of trying out a caster pet and getting more spell damage items as well to see if i can boost a caster to equal or beat a normal pet , something like a wind-serpent perhaps , i know our hunter shots or at least some of them are classed as spells and have seen a few hunters with + spell damage items

has anyone tried that out ? and had good results , i can see it would not be that easy to check as it still surprises me on the normal type hunter items i do not always get the results i expect when i check my stats , as my main is now 70 i may just try on any armour i find that has spell damage as i know on my server at least it is almost impossible to auction most items and so i either vendor or send them to be disenchanted anyway , i have a dragon-hawk that i may just see if i can increase its fire damage a bit , if anyone has tried it i would love to read your thoughts on it.
