Eyonix posted on the WoW Hunter forum today to request class feedback. If you have the opportunity, please drop by that forum and give him what he needs!
But take a moment to read the details first — Blizzard is looking for fairly specific information:
We’re currently gathering class feedback from players for Wrath of the Lich King concerning thoughts on the areas of each class that is perceived to be most in need of improvement. This thread is not intended for discussion purposes and we ask that you please review the below format before presenting your feedback. It’s very important for us to be able to review all provided feedback and as a result, not following the required format will very likely result in your post being removed.
- List your primary talent tree(s), i.e. Holy/Disc.
- List the content you’re primarily pursuing or most enjoy, i.e. Raiding, PvP, Solo, etc…
- Provide a brief description of the areas you feel are most in need of improvement (you may list a maximum of three issues and each issue should be described in one or two sentences).
- List up to five specific spells/abilities/talents you feel most need change, redesign or improvement in the order you feel each is most in need of attention. (MOST to LESS)
Please remember to be constructive when providing feedback, and avoid discussions with others so that this thread can remain a promising and reliable source for feedback. It’s also important to note that we’re not looking for suggestions on how aspects of your class can be improved, but rather which areas are in need of improvement by your own assessment. When we have collected enough feedback we will reply back to this thread thanking everyone for their assistance, and the thread will be locked. Thank you very much for your participation!
Don’t forget to mention pet abilities and stable slots!
id go post, but my account is expired at the moment, it wont let me post on their site(s). however, i do plan on putting my biggest area of attention being the survival tree. that should be the king of pvp tree.
survival tree should make hunters much much harder to kill. id so take an ability to let us get to range faster for a bit less damage.
25% HPs with survivalist talent, give us a “soul link” type of thing with our pet (give us a reason to have bears/boars/other high HP pets), a way to remove snares, move silencing shot to survival and new MM talent – improved aimed shot – MS effect lasts 3 secs longer and takes 1 second less to cast. they can put this in the old TSA slot and move TSA to the end with a 300AP bonus or scale it with our level better… (125AP at 60 was nice… 125AP at 80?… seems kind of weak).
Pet abilities. I’d LOVE an ability that lets us learn skills without having to tame. Make mend pet a percentage based heal, or make it affected by AP. Family abilities for pets are overall weak or entirely absent.
Huzzah! A chance to actually complain for a good reason.

Any idea if this is (another) U.S. only thing? Or is there an equivalent request on the European boards?
Pretty sure this is a blanket request, can’t say I am positive though. I mean if your looking for a way to improve something, wouldn’t you look your fan base over, and not just one country?
HI CAN WE LEARN TO TEACH OUR PETS STRANGTH or int ok agi etc etc WITH OUR TRAINING POINS PLEASE AS PETS ARE SORT OF WEEK..THANKS may be also some lifting the YOU CAN,T CAPTURE A FEL BOAR FOR A PET THEY LOOK THE BEST OUT OF ALL CREATURES PLEASE LET US GRAB THEM FOR HELL LOOKING PETS TY

1. The pets need a vast improvement. I have had a crab since level ten and I really like Artey, but honestly he is useless. One ability, Claw, and thats it. If you are going to have so many pets give them different roles. (ie. tank, dps, interrupt) An armor ability for tank pets would be good. Bliz has done fine with dps pets,if not a little bias with the animals they chose to give all the talents to, and an interrupt pet something to give us fighting chance in Battle Grounds. I understand some of the pets already daze and BM gets a stun, but I would like something more equivalent to a rogues’s kick.
2. I am tired of my pet running off every time I get attacked. How about another command that would stop this; so far pets have, attack, follow, and stay. I would like something in between follow and stay, like attack only when I say.
3. Bliz has done a better job with pets being able to follow where ever a hunter goes without aggroing everything while trying to RUN to us instead of jumping down with us. I would just like to see that this continues.
Next set
1. We are hunters, master of beasts, could we not get some cool unique flying pet or at least get reduced prices on riding. Hunters are supposed to be all about the beasts yet Druids get free flying, Warlocks got questable minions, and Hunters got nothing.
2. I am out of ideas for now maybe more will come later. I appreciate Blizzard inquiring with the player and hope that our suggestions are not in vain.
Natur, on 2, you can put your pet on passive (the very last button the right-hand side of the pet bar) and they’ll only attack when told. :) It’s already in there.
But yes, I want to see more pet role variety. Warlocks have very well-differentiated pets for many different roles; we…kinda…sorta…do. Maybe.
Not to be unkind, Naturservent… but uh, concerning your first #2? There is such a thing. It’s called “Passive” instead of “Defensive”. :>
Note, self: avoid class forums like the plague for a bit. *shivers* Oh well, I hope they get some useful info.
No Wark. Nothing good ever comes from the hunter forums. Nightmares come from there. Thats all.
Sorry, I knew about passive just forgot because my stupid UI never loads. Is there a way to fix that?
@ Natur
Try typing in “/console reloadui” to fix your UI. I’ve had issues with some addon from cosmos screwing my UI up ever since the pet started disappearing when we mount up.
My biggest gripes & wishes are:
Too many near-useless talent boxes.
Too easy and often for our ice-cubes to break.
Still too vulnerable to rogues.
Should be able to tame our own mounts.
Need “Camo” talent, to let us get the drop on prey.
Need /prone ability, to let us shoot while laying down,@ +rng/-def.
Need working sniper scope, that lets us see from that perspective.
Pet AI not customizable enough.
Hunter traps look too much like “magic” traps; Give us graphics that match the raw iron feel of the mountain survivalist.
Give us:”Avenge The Master” talent:
“When he hunter is killed, their pet will remain active and attack the hunter’s killer until either enemy or pet is killed, as long as target is nearby.”
a comment to fleabeard
the new fireworks ?? shot is the worst change in graphics i have seen , hehe looks like a kids firework
the n.e. with stealth already has the camouflage talent
the avenge the master , nice thought but i usually die after my pet has died anyway
as i am mostly bm the talent tree has mostly good talents from my way of thinking , but i guess one day i will try out the other trees and may change my mind
as with others comments about pets yes i agree more pets with 1 extra slot would be good though , and pets that retain their normal attacks after training would be better
example is spiders , poison spit , traps and their poison bite , now that would make them more usefull
others that have all sorts of fear and resists to training them ? you know the ones if you have tried training them sian/shy-rotam ? hehe nice pets but if you get it wrong you run around like a headless chicken
or the ones that the icetraps do not work on , you either take a real beating or die taming them
less caster pets would be good as well i waited till 70 to try a dragonhawk that was not a caster and i think its a nice pet , not perfect though as it can only learn bite/fire breath
more boars spread through the levels would be good as well , to me the boar has to be about the best starting pet , it is fast , the only fast pet at low levels it has a good stun it has good survivability and it eats anything and everything you offer it so cheap to feed as well
to any hunter that has not tried one , well you are missing out on a great pet for low level play , we need more like that , it seems crazy that only a boar has fast attacking below level 30
most of these suggestions are for pvp/survival hunters
flare (i know its under the marksmanship part of the spell book) isn’t really that useful and could use some improvement. its diameter should be a lot bigger so it gives the hunter time to react to the rogue or feral druid trying to sneak up on them.
deterrence needs a shorter cooldown. i dont mean something as short as 1 or 2 minutes but maybe 3. it would make it considerably easier to use counterattack more often against melee classes.
non-BM pets could use more armor/health so they can last a little long
put black arrow into the next expansion. its disappointing that it was removed before TBC was released and would help out a lot in battlegrounds.
