Patch 2.2.3 is Live
Patch 2.2.3 went live this morning. It’s primarily a bug fix patch for a number of sound-related issues introduced in Patch 2.2.0, although it also covers a couple of gameplay bugs I’d never heard of. *grin* Full patch notes will eventually be in the normal location, although as I type this they aren’t up yet — and neither are the servers. *sigh* One of the drawbacks of being on the wrong coast …
In the meantime, here’s the notes from the patch download this morning:
Bug Fixes:
- Clients utilizing OpenGL video modes will no longer experience graphical anomalies and missing textures after minimizing/maximizing the window.
- Fixed an issue that caused Fel Eye Stalks during the Legion Ring event to not despawn when the event is completed.
- Fixed an issue where zoning after mounting and summoning a pet was disconnecting players.
- Fixed an issue where the Shift key would get stuck in game.
- Using a /equip macro while affected by certain crowd control spells will no longer cause the items in the macro to be stuck in your inventory.
- Using very low values for SetScale() will no longer cause Mac users to disconnect from the game.
- Default sound channels have been changed from 12 to 32.
- Microphone resources will no longer be claimed by World of Warcraft when Voice Chat is disabled.
- Sounds will no longer stutter and pause if large amounts of creatures are being hit with AoE attacks from multiple sources.
- Sounds caused by spells cast on or by the player will now play more consistently.

Well, patches come and go on the PTR these days that I almost not even get a chance to try them!
I did managed to see one of those fixes though: on “normal” server I would DC if trying to enter the oulands portal from outland side while mounted: since the Blasted Lands side does not allow for mounting there, you’d be DCed for being mounted on arrival! Didn’t happen like that on the PTR.
I still have some tests to finish off for my taming project, but these PTRs are just too much trouble as they keep coming and going! Doing those on my main char on the live server however, would set me back in some 100g or such and I’m trying to save for epic training so that I can get my druid his flight form in 1.5 levels! :)
I just has the SHIFT key get stuck on me for the first time. I couldn’t get my toon to jump and it was driving me nuts. I went into key mappings and re-mapped the spacebar to the Jump command and that’s when I saw it mapped it as SHIFT+Spacebar. Tapping the shift key a few times corrected the issue.
I’ve never experienced the other issues, with the exception of the sounds not always playing. That sucked in Arena because there were times where I never heard the hidden mages charging up their big, giant and PAINFUL fireballs. :-(
Shift key! Are you saying my keyboard isn’t broke? I had to dig out another keyboard and had the same problem there too. Well I sure hope this fixed my issue. Because BG are not fun when you cannot move. =P
I am SO glad they finished the SHIFT/SPACE thingy… I got so annoyed with that.
This is just one of “repairing” patches
I am not interested in patch 2.2.3 in compare with patch 2.3 . Of course, everything what happen with my loved World of WarCraft makes me wary, but it seems that Blizzard is doing ebverything much more better these times (except few events like Brewfest, but they repaired it very early). It lookes like that new patches are of two kinds: 1) New feature adding, 2)Repairing issues. In case of 1) we can see much new and funny and useful things, in 2) is Blizzard just repairing what they did wrong in 1).
So easily, patch 2.2.3 is just not interesting, because it is repairing patch. I’m waiting very impatiently for patch 2.3.
And, BTW, sorry for my bad english, I just envy (is it good word?) that most of you born with english in their blood… I wish I was born in US or GB too… Czech Republic is sooo backward, retarded… /cry /sigh
I have one absolutely off topic ask: How is it about pet scaling? I heard that pets are growing bigger when they hit highter lvles, is it true? I don’t see this on my pet… at least i think i don’t see it :-)
Pets grow by ~1% or so per level.
You won’t notice it every time you level up, but if you stable your level 70 cat, and train a level 10 one, you’ll see a difference in size.
All level 70 pets of a given type should be the same size.
So first pet (lvl 10) have about 60% of size of 70 lvl pet? nice, thanks for information
So far as I know: The major patches are X.X (2.0, 2.3, etc.). Minor patches are X.X.X (2.2.2, 2.2.3, etc.). Most major patches are content patches — with new dungeons and whatnot — but not all of them. 2.2 for instance, was mostly voice chat and new sound tech. Minor patches are usually either bug fixes (like 2.2.3) or seasonal content (like 2.2.2). Minor patches happen as needed; major patches happen on a more-or-less regular schedule every couple of months.
Hye whats the bigest size pet . like if i get a cat its long but whats biygger than me and noticeable
