Community Round-Up: Threat, Boars, and Talents
I’m still trying to clear out the backlog of blog posts that accumulated in Google Reader over my absence. Here’s a few posts I wanted to mention (and yes, several of them are quite old).
- WoW Addicts Anonymous posted two nice little introuction articles that I found helpful: an introduction to threat mechanics and aggro, and an introduction to hunter shot timers. Since these are both concepts that I ignore whenever possible (because I’m a bad hunter), these simple intro helped me sort out the concepts quite a bit.
- Znodis has a short summary of why boars are such a strong recommended pet. Like Znodis, this state of affairs makes me a little sad, but for hunters who want the ‘best pet for soloing’, it’s the unfortunate truth. Incidentally, Znodis is moving his hunter blog to a new home at The Mystic Hunter.
- Lassirra at The Hunter’s Mark has started her epic saga on the hunter talent trees. Part I is all about Survival.
By the way, there are no Big Red Kitty posts here despite the fact that I marked quite a few of them because I haven’t finished reading through all his posts yet. Man, that guy is prolific!

As for BRK posts, yep, he surely is! But then again, his signal to noise ratio is increasing, that is, there are fewer really “can’t miss” or “must bookmark this” type of posts lately…

I have a hard time judging BRK sometimes — our … philosophies of gameplay, if you will, are vastly different. In fact, he did a series of posts right around the time I left that I wanted to comment on that highlight that very well. But I am quite glad he exists so that I can send people his way when they ask me to compare weapons. :>
Mania, I’m sure I’m not the only Hunter out here who is breathlessly awaiting authoritative info from you on the Fel Reaver Pet!

Hey, thanks. That shot timers link is just the sort of thing I’ve been (not so diligently) looking for. My poor hunter alt got set aside for almost 2 years before I picked him up again, so even though I’ve pulled him up to 66 I still feel like such a noob when it comes to basic shot rotations and mechanics.

Chris: You mean there’s an end to the wet, humid season? Things really have changed since I’ve been gone! :>
