WoW Forums: Egad! Drysc in the Hunter Forum!
Drysc posted several interesting teasers yesterday about hunter changes in the upcoming patch 2.3. A quick summary:
- Serpent Sting, Immolation Trap and Explosive Trap will scale with ranged attack power.
- Wyvern Sting will be instant cast.
- Arcane Shot (ranks 6+) will dispel 1 magic effect in addition to the normal damage.
- We will be getting 20 and 24 slot ammo pouches and quivers.
(I’m sure this has been reported elsewhere already, but I’m still frantically trying to catch up with my Google Reader — I had almost 700 new posts to read on Monday, although I am down to 271 now. If I run across more news like this I’ll just throw it in here.)
Edit: And one more! Trueshot Aura will be free to cast and will last until canceled.

Fantastic stuff coming the Hunters way i see, I’ve been off Hunter for while leveling my new Draenei paladin and i can assure you its nice to be back in the good’ol Orcish ways of Wolf and Orc, Loving it!
Woohoo! No more perfectly timing Wyvern sting to interrupt healing mobs, and cursing Silencing shot when I’m .01 seconds too late!
serpent sting is nice
those traps, nobody uses em unless they go up A LOT
instant wyvern sting is nice
arcane shot dispel is something nice, but not really awesome
the bigger ammo pouches is the best, although i wish they would give us 28 like what warlocks get
I wish we had a extra slot for Quivers and Ammo pouch… sucks not having 4 bags like most classes
I agree on comment #4. That’s the biggest drawback ever, they should make us have a seperete replacalbe ammo container slot. As well warlocks should have the same for soul shards, it’s just not right to cripple us by only having 3 bag slots. It’s not like it’s optional either, hunters have to use ammo for everything we do, and warlocks have to use shards for nearly everything they do.
BTW is Drysc a “blue” as in a warcraft GM? Are the things he’s posting 100% offical, or just speculation?
Drysc is a CM (community manager) which is a paid position of go between between players and devs. So, yes they are official, but as always things can change.
Personally, I’d love a 20 slot quiver with only 12 ammo slots, but 8 general slots. You could still fill it to 20, but as ammo was used you could put items in the open slots, instead of waistng them.
@znodis: imagine looting one of those beasts that drops some slimey stuff: your arrows would be all sticky and would loose some speed! :)
I think that 100% chance on dispelling with arcane shot is too much - it should be a seperate shot with shared CD for Arcane Shot and the dispelling shot, so you either go for dam or for dispelling not both and not with 100% chance.
What they should do is lump it into one of the 5-point MM talents to have you get a 20%/40%/60%/80%/100% chance to dispel. They could even go so far as to make it a Survival talent.
Ummmm, why are hunters posting about ways to nerf a hunter skill we don’t even have yet? strange.
IMO the larger ammo bags are really not necessary. I raid regularly and almost never us more than half the bullets in my 18-slot bag, and when farming, I have to go somewhere to empty my other bags way before I need more ammo. The improvements on Arcane Shot, Wyvern Sting and traps are all very good. The best improvement in 2.3 by far is the elimination of the dead zone. No more backing up constantly in instances. No more pvp frost nova’d with a mage 8 yards away blasting you while you just sit there and die unable to defend yourself…lets face it, the dead zone was stupid to begin with….I think they should let us shoot at point blank range….I don’t see casters having to melee when in close combat…i say let us put a bullet in their face up close and personal!!
m.. thank you
