Someone: Taming the Whole World of Warcraft

And I thought I was crazy!

Someone, the hunter from Wildhammer EU, has embarked on a new and exciting project — collecting extensive wild and tamed data on every pet in the game via an add-on he’s written. Check out what he’s done so far on his blog post Taming the Whole WoW (Part II). (You can check out Part I also, of course, but Part II has more updated info.)

As someone who has attempted to tame every creature in the game at least once (although I haven’t been 100% successful), I have to applaud this kind of project! And as someone who finds it annoying and tedious everytime Blizzard slightly adjusts some underlying number because it means I have to go out and tame 100+ creatures just to get valid base readings again, I am sincerely grateful that Someone doesn’t mind sharing his results with us.

    I have this saying:

    - There are 6 billion people in the world: some just gotta be screwed up! :)

BTW: feel free to download and try the add-on! If you find something weird, let me know so that I can fix it before I finish taming all those 1610 possible pets! :)

I already thought of a change to make/test later: preventing data collection from other player’s/NPC’s pets. Will have to see if I can reliably detect those and forbid them! Also, on a 2nd thought, maybe stripping bare naked will give better results, but I’ll have to try that later too…

BTW: Stop ruining the fun with my name!

Wrong: “Someone, the hunter from Wildhammer EU, has embarked on a new and exciting project”
Right: “Someone has embarked on a new and exciting project”

That name was chosen to create confusion! :)

    Such as in:

    player1> Invite Someone please.
    party-leader> I’m trying but I can’t find anyone!

    Or:

player1> Someone said that this is like that.
    player2> Who?
    player1> Someone.
player2> You don’t know or you don’t want to tell?
    player1> Tell what?
player2> Who it was that said that…
player1> But I already told you! Someone did say that!
    … :)

(Yeah, I know: I’m one of those few in those 6 billion!)

This is a huge project and quite admrable. I’m going to test it out but the respec costs are not teeny for me - pushed a few respecs already. Now ’strip nekkid”? hmmm I am compassionate to a sense, exposing my hunter to innocent critters might skew the results.

btw, not sure if you are old enough to remember Wavy Gravy (ala the Woodstock festival) had a presidental campaign long ago: Nobody for President! Nobody will increase your Taxes! Nobody Cares! etc.

@Shibumi: do the test on the PTR: free 70 hunters and 5000g to boot so enough for a few respecs! :)

Someone - you betcha, PTR is the happening place to test. :)
